I have a terabyte of movies that I would like to put on a the cloud so that I can access them via iTunes anywhere.  The movies are almost all .avi.  I have tried to drag them to my iTunes on my laptop but have not been able to transfer 1 single file.

Can anyone help me import .avi movies to a cloud drive so that I can play them on my iPad when I'm traveling.  It is one of the only reasons I purchased the thing and I cannot figure out how to access my personal movie files from a "cloud" drive.

To get that much storage, you need to look to professional online services.  Pro-level hosting accounts may offer you that much (well, many will offer as much storage as you are prepared to pay for), or Amazon professional cloud services.  You could also store the files on a home machine and pay for a professional hosting service so you could stream them over your own account (assuming your ISP connection and agreement allows for the bandwidth used).  You would still need to deal with the issue of finding an app for the iPad that supported avi streaming.

• My last computer died, but we've been able to transfer my files onto an external hard drive to put onto my new computer.I have now got exclamation marks next to 100 songs which I downloaded from Frostwire years ago. How can I fix this?

After my brother transferred all my files from my old computer to an external hard drive, he then put them onto my new computer. It appears that 100 songs which I downloaded from Frostwire years ago have the exclamation mark next to them. I cannot find the files on my new computer, and cannot remember where they were saved to on my old computer as it was over 3 years ago. I have also tried to consolidate the files as I've found people suggested, but that is not working. I have also read that you should tell itunes that you are moving the music, but my old laptop cannot be read when it is on. Is there any other way tofix this issue? I don't want to have to buy over 100 songs which I already have.

• Time Machine backup of iTunes didn't - folders are almost all empty.....

Posted this in the iTunes forum as that's what I'm trying to restore using Time Machine, but thought I'd try here too
Here's what happened....
Having a small hard drive on my old but current eMac and running out of room I decided to move my iTunes library to my external Lacie drive (with over 80 gb free)
I checked the Apple documents for what to do and was reminded to make a backup
I ran a last back up to Time Machine, which I have used a few times for document recovery and know that it works and how to use it, and then set up my new destination folder on the Lacie and deleted my iTunes library from its original location.
Now when I go into Time Machine, and no I didn't exclude anything from being being backed up, I can find the iTunes library, and the folders with each named artist, but every folder is empty, there are no music files. (Or rather there is one named 'Unknown Album' and a sub directory called 'Unknown Artist' which has a small selection of unamed audio)
Each iTunes Music folder is at about 800mb - the unnamed audio mentioned above
I have gone all the way back (though I have not opened every backup yet) to October 2007 when I did the first Time Machine backup on installing Leopard, and every backup I have explored has empty artist folders.
'Find' also seems to work only in a limited way with the TM files - a search for 'Music' for example should logically find every 'Music' folder back to the start of TM but doesn't even though I can find them manually in each backup
Does anyone have any ideas of where or whether there might be a full backup; even from October 2007 would be better than nothing! I 'only' had about 9gb of audio, though some is custom, one off work.
My basic assumption here is that the first TM backup would have backed up everything and then only alterations and additions as they occurred
Thanks so much in advance
Stephen

Death By Media and Kiraly
Thanks so much for the ideas and suggestions - no libraries were excluded, hmmm, and only one user account....
Do I have an iPod with the songs on it?
Well I can still see all the items I have lost in Music in iTunes (all of which come up with an exclamation mark and a 'can't find, do you want to locate the library' message...) so I know what went missing
I do have a 1st generation shuffle with some tracks on it, and some burnt CDs, and some Downloads which were saved by Time Machine
Of the 9GB or so about 6GB were from CDs or vinyl that I own so no huge deal - though the vinyl takes so much time doesn't it
1GB was almost everything by a favourite artist of which about 30% were rare recordings, live shows etc (*all legal downloads I must add*) which took lots of time to find, and convert etc
Then the recordings of conferences and presentations which are irreplaceable
Then there are the 250 or so purchased songs from iTunes which I really don't want to have to buy again.....
Any other ideas where at least the original archive created by Time Machine might be hiding...?
Thanks again
Stephen

• HT204266 There are some apps that I have on my Ipod that I would like to put onto my Ipad2. I searched the app store for them but the search came back with no results. Why???

If an app is available for an Ipod touch shouldn't it be available for an Ipad2?

There are some apps that are device specific....ipad only, iPhone only, etc
Go to your purchased tab in iTunes, and then look at the top and you should see 'iPad apps' 'iPod apps' etc. Look around in there and see if you can find your apps to download onto your iPad.

• I have a home video on a DVD that i would like to put into iMovie. Any help??

is it possible to move the content of a video from DVD Video Recorder (DVD Player) over to iMovie?

Hi
Depends on how - DVD Video Recorder - makes this DVD
Most probably a sort of .mpeg2 code as on standard DVDs. If You open the DVD on DeskTop/Finder - then You should find two folders
Audio_TS (empty - and must be so)
Video_TS (lot's of .vob and .bup files)
Then read on
DVD back for future editing
A. don't put a mini DVD into Your Mac unless it’s a tray-loaded DVD burner/reader
B. iMovie’08 prob. 09 can import from DVD (homemade without copy-protection)
C. I prefer one of these two ways
• Copy to miniDV tape from set-top DVD-player --> Camera -or-
• Roxio Toast™ - Can back convert to streamingDV for iMovie or FinalCut
D. Read what Karsten collected.
DVD back to iMovie.

DVDs are in a so-called delivery format (mpeg2), which isn't meant and
made for any processing as editing...  or, as honorable forum member
QuicktimeKirk stated. I use the analogy of the old Polaroid
"instant" cameras. Push the button, wait for the print to develop and
show it off. ..
for using the iLife apps, you have to convert-'em first, in
recommended order, choose one of the following tools/workarounds.
• DVDxDV (free trial, 25$, Pro. 90$)
• Apple mpeg2 plugin  (20$) + MPEG-Streamclip (free)
• Cinematize >60$
• Mpeg2Works >25$ + Apple plug-in
• Toast 6/7/8/9/10/11 allows converting to dv/insert dvd, hit apple-k
• connect a miniDV Camcorder with analogue input to a DVD-player and transfer disk to tape/use as converter
• Drop2DV (free) a free tool claiming to convert DVDs into dv-stream...
• Use iSquint for your conversions . www.iSquint.org

none of these apps override copy-protection mechanisms as on commercial DVD's...

• I have Mac version 10.3.9 and would like to upgrade my Firefox to a version that supports Google calendar.

I have a Mac version 10.3.9 and use Google email and calendar, and am now getting messages that they will be phasing out support for my browser, which is Firefox 2.0.0.20
The new Firefox version offered requires Mac 10.4 or above. Can I upgrade my Firefox to meet the Google requirements without upgrading my Mac?

You can alco check using the model number.
Check that your computer is compatible with Mountain Lion.
To check the model number hold down the option/alt key, go to the Apple menu and select System Information.
iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) model number 7,1 or higher
MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) model number 5,1 or higher
MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) model number 3,1 or higher
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) model number 2,1 or higher
Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) model number 3,1 or higher
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) model number 3,1 or higher
Xserve (Early 2009) model number 3,1 or higher
Your Mac needs:
OS X v10.6.8 or OS X Lion already installed
2 GB or more of memory
8 GB or more of available space
Check to make sure your applications are compatible.         Application Compatibility

• I have photos on iphoto that i would like to put on to my new iphone how do i do that, also when i click on an iphoto picture a triangle with a ! in the middle comes up can anyone help me?

can anyone help me out?
thx

You can transfer the purchases you made on your old iPhone 3 by plugging it in to iTunes and doing File > Devices > Transfer Purchases from your IPhone to the iTunes on your computer.  This will get music you purchased in iTunes, apps, etc.  (e.g., movies).
But for the rest you would need to restore a backup of your newly deceased computer.

• I have a new computer and I have not been able to transfer the remaining money on a gift card to i Tunes. It says its been redeemed although my old one says there is $32.00 in it

I have a new computer and iTunes will not recognize my balance on a gift card that appears on my olc computer. How do I transfer it??

You don't need to transfer anything; money isn't kept on the card but rather is tied to the iTunes Store account once you redeem the card. Just log into the iTunes Store using the account ID under which that gift card was redeemed.
Regards.

• I have recently purchased my I PAD2 and would like to know about  flash player

I have recently purchased my I pad and would like to know about Flash Player  and  what to download if any
thanks

Skyfire web browser is the most popular app that will allow you to view Flash content on many, but not all websites.  iOS devices don't support Flash natively due to stability and battery drain issues.  It's agood move overall, and most websites send HTML5 content to iOS devices.  But the transition isnt complete, so you'll still find that you can't view video on some sites.
Flash based games are pretty much out.

• I have a number of audiobooks purchased through iTunes on my iPod touch.  Is there a way to move or download them to the Cloud so that I can access them on other devices?

I have a number of audiobooks purchased through iTunes on my iPod touch.  Is there a way to move or download them to the Cloud so that I can access them on other devices?

Thanks - I didn't realize that.  I'm also embarrassed to admit that I don't know how to transfer the audio files from my iPod to the iTunes library on my computer.  When I select a book from the list on the iPod, the only option I see with the right-facing arrow symbol is "Show in iTunes Store ".  I back the iPod up to this computer so I guess those files must be on it somewhere, but all I can recognize in the iTunes folder under " Music"  are the music files found in the "iTunes Music" folder. (There are also a ton of files named "iTunes Temp (some #).) The Books list on the computer shows some but not all of the audiobooks -  I purchased the rest on a different computer that is now unfortunately dead. I'm guessing now that those didn't transfer over when the new computer was populated from the old one, so the iPod may be the only place where those audiobooks now reside.  I hope that made some sense- any additional advice would be appreciated.
