I have an Apple TV Gen1 and it has a blinking light that changes color and I dont get any video displayed

we have lost a few AV items due to a recent storm and i am trying to find out if my apple Tv model: A1218 is dead or fixable. It has a blinking light that changes color and I dont get any video displayed. the color looks to go red, green, off and keeps repeating that cycle.

Having read some other posts I think I have answered my question. If I was somehow able to terminate my old (unwanted) account and Apple ID I would no longer be able to access the material I bought with that ID- so I'm stuck. I have to learn how to manage that situation.
This is unfortunate for Apple consumers. Life is complicated for families these days and this "rule" although it is in place to prevent cheating and fraud makes things unnnecessarily difficult for me and my family as in my niaevity (sic) with the online world I bumbled into this situation. I like to have my bookmarks in a sidebar. I used to make that change once, and it stuck. With version 21 I have to make it each time I reopen.

I don't know whether this arises from the change of version because I very recently did a clean-up of my hard drive with Norton Utilities 16. Still, I tried making a change to the actual bookmarks, and it stuck the next time I opened.

Thanks for this. I was opting for a bookmark sidebar by simply clicking on the bookmark option in the menu. That wasn't working for me. I used Ctrl-B and the bookmark sidebar stuck. Didn't have to take the other steps suggested.

Call Apple Care for your country and ask for help resetting the password and the security questions.

I don't think you understood what I wrote. You don't HAVE to pay for everything if you are happy with using the other account for updates, etc. But if you don't want to do that then you will have to buy new copies of everything for the new account. There's only one purchase item per account, but you can redownload an item in the account many times.
The idea is this:
One computer, multiple devices, one Apple ID.
One user, multiple devices, one Apple ID.
The basic idea is that each user has an Apple ID under which he/she can manage multiple devices on a single computer.
Once you step outside of that model you create such problems as not being able to use or update apps purchase under one Apple ID when using a different Apple ID. Or not being able to easily sync one device on more than one computer.

It's a really bad idea to post your email addresess - it's an invitation to spam - and I've asked the Hosts to remove them.
This is a user-to-user forum and no-one on here can take any direct action. If your Yahoo address is not working that's something you would need to take up with Yahoo - have you checked it by sending yourself an email to it?

You will have to provide the correct password to delete the existing account, if you have tried but are not getting the password reset email, contact Apple for assistance by going to https://expresslane.apple.com, then click More Products and Services>Apple ID>Other Apple ID Topics>Lost or forgotten Apple ID password.

You can't merge Apple IDs. What you could do is set up your phone to use the same iCloud accout you are using on your Mac. To do this, go to Settings>iCloud and turn all synced data (Contacts, Calendars, etc.) to Off. When prompted, choose to keep the data on the phone. When everything is off, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account. Now add the iCloud account you set up on your Mac (with the same Apple ID) and turn syncing back on for Calendars, Contacts, etc. When prompted, you will probably want to choose merge, to merge the data on your phone with the existing data on this iCloud account.

When Microsoft decided not to support Windows Media any more, they made Flip4Mac available for free. If you have not taken advantage of that free download, this might be a good time.
It may not completely solve the problem, but your Mac will play more with the free player. No need to pay for the Upgrades.

Great question! What type of email account are you using? Most email providers these days offer IMAP accounts (as opposed to POP). With IMAP, your changes should reflect across your devices (for example: if you read an email on your iPhone, it should be marked as read on your iPad). You need to take your phone to an Apple Store in the US. You can purchase an Out of Warranty replacement if the phone is damaged. Cost is $269+ tax.
You cannot upgrade to a 5S at an Apple store; at best, you can turn in your current phone to get a gift card towards the purchase of another.

Close your iTunes,
Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
(Win XP SP2 n above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
netsh winsock reset
Hit "ENTER" key
Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:
