I just bought an iTouch and I've been trying to install iTunes for the past 2 days. I'm using Windows Vista and I am installing the 64-bit version. Me too. And if someone comes back on here with the same solution of "uninstall and re-install", please provide further advice after you have done that 3 times and the program still has the same problem in addition to the "failure to load the C runtime library" R6034 issue. I have removed itunes 3 times however I do not have permission to remove the program files/apple file and the uninstall doesn't remove it.

I was asked if I wished to download the latest version of iTunes to my computer. I have failed to do so. Error message : 'Apple Mobile Device failed to start'. I am unable to download iTunes on my second Windows 8 computer (64 bit). I got it fine on my first one and have used it quite a bit. After downloading the program and installing it on the second computer, I keep getting this error message: "Apple Mobile Device Failed to Start." Should you get the error iTunes.exe - Entry Point Not Found after the above reinstall then copy QTMovieWin.dll from:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
and paste into:
C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
The above paths would be for a 64-bit machine. Hopefully the same fix with the " (x86)" omitted would work on 32-bit systems with the same error.

I went to do an iTunes upgrade and got an error message that it could not be found? It suggested I uninstall and reinstall my iTunes. After a failed attempt, I realized the location was set to the default hard drive of C:, so I tried again by changing the location to my external hard drive. Now I get an error message that says:

Check for .dll files
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes and C:\Program Files\iTunes and look for .dll files.
If you find QTMovie.DLL, or any other .dll files, move them to the desktop.
Reboot your computer.
Note: Depending on your operating system, you may only have one of the listed paths.
Uninstall and reinstall iTunes
Uninstall iTunes and all of its related components.
Reboot your computer. If you can't uninstall a piece of Apple software, try using the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility.
Re-download and reinstall iTunes 11.1.4.

Hi Communitiy.
I have a window desktop and have had itunes for ever. The latest update failed and I am getting a strange error message. "Apple mobile Device failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privledges to start system service."
I have iphones and I am wondering if a sync of iphone and I tunes has somehow screwed up everything.
The update will not load. I have even tried uninstalling itunes and reinstalling.
I get the same exact message as before.

During the installation of Itunes I get the following error: Service 'Apple Mobile Device' (Apple Mobile Device) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privledges to start system service. I then have three buttons abort, retry and ignore. I have hit each button once and got no good results.

I too was having the same problem when I tried to update and then unfortunately uninstall and re-install itunes. But, like Nige above me says, you need to uninstall all your Apple software and then re-install itunes.
