I have an Ipod Classic and An Ipad 2. I dont want to sync my itunes complete library to both. How do I stop his from Happening

I Loaded my whole music library into itunes on my PC. I then synced It to my ipod classic. All went well.
Next day I wanted to add some songs to my ipad2 .When I plugged into my pc itunes started to transfer the whole music library to the ipad2. I cancelled this operation and now I have a bunch of Ghost icons on my ipad2 that I can't seem to remove. Can someone help me out and explain what I did wrong and how to fix it.I am brand new at this so forgive me if i am in the wrong support community

Open itunes.
Connect ipad. Select what you wan tto sync. Sync. Disconnect ipad.
Cnnect ipod. Select what you want. Sync.

All fixed Barry. When I went to restart my computer, the question was right there. Do you want to open Windows when opening. NOPE!!
I tried it a few times and thank goodness it worked. Thank you for your help today.

where on my computer am I suppose to make the individual picture files and have them to upload on my ipod touch.... I do have a photo library on my computer, but in the photo tab in itunes for the ipod touch and there is nothing checked for syncing, cause when I do check it it always says its going to replace everything i have in my photo library on my ipod touch..... So how am i suppose to have it checked and have it NOT replace pictures on it????
Also I cannot make more photo albums into my ipod touch, it just replaces the one album every time....
I am very frustrated cause I have tried the manuals and the apple support help etc and nothing pertains to my exact issue.....

You can go into settings and turn sharing off in the programs on the device you don't want to share too.

Yes. You're supposed to move it to the second device from the computer and not redownload it from the iTunes Store.

Are you sure the error message/prompt isn't referring to the amount of disk space available on your PC's internal hard drive? If you head to Start -> My Computer. How much space is free on your C: drive?
Maybe it would help if you could post a small screen shot of the error.

If you check songs, simply sync the entire library.
But I highly recommend (and it is far simpler) to create a playlist (or multiple playlists) and select only that playlist to sync.
Leave everything checked.
Then simply add/remove from these playlists and sync away.

WE have 2 Ipod classics and 1 IPod touch. One of the classics is not recognised by itunes library under devices and cannot be synchrinised with a playlist

We have 2 Ipod classics and 1 Ipod touch. One of the classics is not recognised by the itunes library and therfore canoot be synchonised with a playlist.

The second shuffle cannot be recognized by this computer ("USB Device Cannot be Recognized") so I don't think I'm able to reset it using that (it says "iPod is not recognized by iTunes, but is *visible in My Computer or in Device Manager* on a Windows PC, or in Apple System Profiler on a Mac.")
Like I said though, it works on other computers just fine and is visible so I don't quite understand what's up with this computer.
