You say you have a 1G iPod but the profile says iOS 4.2. A 1G can only go to 3.1.3.

  • Ipod touch 1st generation fully charged apple logo comes up but freezes before it turns on

i have a 1st generation ipod touch and i borrowed it to a friend for a while. she deleted everything that was on it when she gave it back to me. but now i'm trying to put it back onto my computer and it was dead now when i try to start it the apple logo comes up like it normally would then the wait symbol appears over the logo and it freezes and will not turn on. I tried to put it into dfu mode and it won't go into that either. has anybody else had any experiences with this and fixed them? please let me know. or do you all think i should just retire this one and buy a different ipod?

    Did you tru eferthing here:
iPhone and iPod touch: Frozen and unresponsive
If the iPod screen is always one,, let the battery fully drain, Then charge and try again.

  • Ipod touch 1st generation can't connect to my linksys wireless router wr110. THe signal is strong and there is a check mark beside my network name, but when I try to open safari it says "unable to find server".

My friends MacBook connected easily to my wireless, but why not the ipod touch? When prompted for "Password" I enter the security key info and nothing, nadda....zip.  The MacBook asks for the "Security Key" info not "Password", like the touch. What's the difference?

Click on the blue arrow to the right of the network name, if IP address starts with "169." ,restart your router. It should connect properly after your router reboots in a minute or two.

  • I have an Ipod touch 1st generation which for some reason will not sync to my itunes account because of an 'error', though the error it speaks of is unknown.I have restored the ipod to original factory settings and it still will not sync. What should I do?

My title question pretty much explains it all but here are a few more details. I have tried almost everything I could think of before restoring my Ipod. I switched cords, turned it off before I plugged it in, I turned it on before I plugged it in, I manually tried to sync it, I turned of the computer and restarted, and after all that I finally restored it . But before all of this I was having other problums with it as well. It will freeze up when I use certain apps and also has a tendency to switch album covers, though now theres no album covers left on the ipod, the my itunes library is still fully intact... What should I do?

Sorry for  the typos, I hope my message still gets across!

  • I have a ipod touch 1st generation and it started to not to respond in some parts of the screen. Its kind off old it randomly turns off and on. What can i do? is there a way for apple to help me?

I need help some one please help me

Basics from the manual are restart, reset, restore.
If these fail, it is likely a hardware problem.  You can call Apple to see about repair or look it up online:

  • Ipod touch 1st generation stuck in connect to itunes mode what do i do?????

    hey,
    ive tried everything,
i cant put it in recovery because i have a passcode...
itunes says to enter the password.. but how can i when its on that screen...
it wont even let me go in restore mode in itunes...
this is really annoying and i have really old pics on the device
    please help

Did you follow the instructions here for placing the iPod in recovery mode:
iOS: Unable to update or restore
I do not understand this statement: "i cant put it in recovery because i have a passcode..." since placing the iPod in recovery mode is how you allow a restore.

  • HT2052 Does anyone have a solution to getting my iPod touch 1st generation to show up in iTunes without having to pay a big service fee for tech support?

I have an iPod touch 1st generation.  Up until the last update it was recognized in iTunes and now it will not come up in iTunes at all.  Don't feel like I should have to pay $100 every times iTunes updates and there is a problem with it recognizing my iPod.  Anyone have any suggestions?  I have uninstalled iTunes half a dozen times and done everything they recommended including replacing my USB cable, nothing works.

    It is an iTunes problem

  • My iPod touch 1st Generation won't turn, charge or appear on my computer

I have an ipod touch 1st generation that I got about 4 years ago. I don't use it that often because I now have an iPhone but when I went to use it, I found it was dead. It won't charge, turn on or appear on my computer or itunes. I've tried recovery and DFU mode but neither work, since it won't turn on at all. I've tried charging it for almost a whole day but it won't even show me a red battery charging icon. I've tried holding the home and power buttons for several minutes while its plugged in but still nothing. My cord is fine and works with other ipod and i have the newest version of itunes.I have a windows 7 computer. I don't live near enough to an apple store to take it in for them to look at and it's no longer under warrenty and it costs $20 for a one time support session online!! Is there anything i can to fix it without spending too much money or should i just accept its dead and not recovering?

Try the remaining iTunes of the following. I think you covered all but the last.:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
