I have been using Adobe Photoshop since 1998. I recently replaced my computer and placed the Adobe Photoshop 5.0 CD in to install, and found that could not load the software, and referred me to Adobe. What should I do?

Downgrade Lion/Mountain Lion to Snow Leopard
1. Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area. If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing. SMART info will not be reported on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
4. Quit DU and return to the installer. Install Snow Leopard.
This will erase the whole drive so be sure to backup your files if you don't have a backup already. If you have performed a TM backup using Lion be aware that you cannot restore from that backup in Snow Leopard (see below.) I suggest you make a separate backup using Carbon Copy Cloner 3.4.1.
If you have Snow Leopard Time Machine backups, do a full system restore per #14 in Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions. If you have subsequent backups from Lion, you can restore newer items selectively, via the "Star Wars" display, per #15 there, but be careful; some Snow Leopard apps may not work with the Lion files.
In the future:
Before upgrading consider:
Don't upgrade if you are in the midst of important work. Wait until you have finished.
If you are having problems with your computer get them sorted out before you upgrade.
Verify that any mission critical software will be compatible with the upgrade.

My new one is a Windows 8 OS so I bought the 13 and downloaded it on the new laptop. Our desktop had died so I downloaded the 13 on the new desk computer also. Not thinking I downloaded 13 on my old laptop as I hope to get it patched up enough to be a backup for my photography. When I tried to activate it I realized that I had downloaded it too often. I didn't know you could only use it on two computers. Learn something new every day.. Any way I removed it and now my PSE 12 does not seem to be working. Now it could be something that I did or something that is an issue with the laptop. this laptop has all the previous editions on board as I always tried to update, except for the year I got a really good deal on Black Friday. I also notice that the new laptop has a copy of PSE 12 in the program list. To my knowledge I have never deactivated any of my PSE's except the extra 13 downloaded. Bottom line, do I need to go in and deactivate previous PSE versions and removed them from my computer? I could certainly use the space and secondly, can I deactivate the PSE 12 and then go back and reacitivate it and install it again on the old laptop or the desktop, whichever I deside would be the most appropriate place for the newer program. For the PSE 12 since it is an updater for 11, does the 11 still need to be on the laptop? thanks for anyone who can understand what I am trying to say and can advise me as to my next move. It sounds like you might need to contact Yahoo! if you aren't able to setup your email account as a new account after deleting it.

I did a search on my system and found the Photoshop has a fastcore plug-in. Creative Cloud includes a subscription version of CS6 version 13.1.2. I do not know if you installed that or not. The cc un-install may have done something. You may need to use Adobe Cleaner then Install The Perpetual CS6 version of Photoshop CS6 version 13.0.6 Mac or Photoshop CS6 version 13.0.1.3 PC and not the subscription CS6 extended version 13.1.2. The latest anorexic iMacs just announced do not even include a CD drive! Proof positive that Apple virtually prohibit the use of DVDs - although the newly announced Mac Minis do include a Superdrive.
Yet, they still include iMovie! Heaven alone knows or understands what you are supposed to do with your newly edited masterpiece - except make a low quality version for YouTube?

I have CS3 Web Premium on an Alienware Area 51 M12j 7700i laptop.
Recently I had to wipe the HD and reinstall the OS, and everything else.
Photoshop deactivated, installed and re-activated fine, but when I try to use any brushes(except the default ones), I get:
"Could not load the brushes because the file is not compatible with this version of Photoshop"
This is weird as they worked just fine before I had to redo everything...
Anyone know what's the cause?

corrupted.. maybe... but if you read the post, they worked fine until the rebuild...
And it's not "a" file, it's "many, many" files, maybe 40 or so brush files.

Web Logic 10.3.6 (64bit) - Could not load the sitemesh filter and library

Installed Web Logic 10.3.3 (32bit) and Java JDK 1.6.0_21 (32bit) in a customer's server (Windows Server 2008 R2 and 64-bit Operating System). The web page can be displayed with header and side menu.
However installed Web Logic 10.3.6 (64bit) and Java JDK 1.6.0_31 (64bit) on that same server. The web page cannot be displayed with header and side menu, it is just displayed with a blank background. Refer to the below "ERROR LOG", found the application could not load the sitemesh filter and library properly. We are using sitemesh-2.3.jar.
Have tried installed Web Logic 10.3.6 (64bit) and Java JDK 1.6.0_31 (64bit) in a test server (Windows Server 2008 R2 and 64-bit Operating System). The web page can be displayed with header and side menu.

Do you see any further nested exceptions OR errors in the log file.
Considering that the same WLS-JDK combination works on one machine and does not work on another machine, it indicates an environmental issue.

I am suspecting if it has to do anything with the native libraries being loaded JAVA_LIB_PATH.
Please review the server log file again for identifying differences in LIB_PATH or PATH or any messages saying "Unable to load native.. performance pack.."

Do a FACTORY RESTORE...not from your back...
Make sure you DON'T allow iTunes to back-up your Ipad before this as it will Replace your back up with the funcky New app arrangement and soo on..
Now after the Factory restore, restart iTunes and do a restore from the Back-p. AGAIN don't let iTunes do a back-up prior to this...

I have downloaded every update and my battery life is better than any previous iPhone I have ever owned. I see posts from hundreds of people every day, and this is not a commonly reported problem. While there are a few random reports of battery problems, it is no more than I have seen for any other model or any other version of iOS in almost 8 years. Usually problems of rapid battery drain can be traced to bad apps (FaceBook is the worst offender) or corrupt data being synced from iCloud or other sources (gmail, Windows Live, Yahoo, etc).
The simple test is to restore the phone as New. Do not create any email accounts. Do not install any apps. Do not enable FaceTime or iMessage. Do not enable Twitter or any other social networking app. Use it for a day and check the battery usage. You will find that it is working well.

If the password is not working to get into your iPad mini, you would need to follow the steps to restore it. If you have a back up through iCloud or through iTunes, you can restore from that back up and it would not bring back the passcode unless it is encrypted.

I've rented a movie from iTunes on my computer which I synced to my iPad - or at least it appears to have moved over however when I hit the play button on the iPad it tells me that it 'could not load movie', I'm not sure what to do next?

If you rented and downloaded it directly on the iPad then it should be in the Videos app - if it's not then have you got a film age rating set in Settings > General > Restrictions that is hiding it ?
