I have bought my daughter a apple ipod touch and she cannot connect to the internet,I cannot help her as i am  not computer boff.

why wont my ipod contact to the internet,please dont be techincal as i wont understand you. the router has a laptop connected and my sky tv.

    Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

    I've seen similar posts, but there doesn't seem to be an answer.
    I can connect my iPod Touch to my wireless router but cannot connect to the internet. Safari gives the following error:
    "Cannot open page. Safari cannot open the page because it is not connected to the internet".
    Other devices (wireless and not) can connect to the internet.
    In the Wi-Fi settings, I have an IP address and subnet mask, but nothing for Router or DNS. I have reset the Wi-Fi settings a couple of times.
    The router is a SpeedStream 6540.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    I had the same problem on older dsl modems if your IP address is 169 you must connect to your router even if it is showing bars that your wii-fi is available & working. It took some time for me to figure this out but you must go to settings click on wi-fi (even if its showing your wii-fi signal name & that it is on it will only do this if you put in a password which is usually on the back/bottom of your modem in form of a sticker that reads device/access code or something similar  or it may do this automatically remember just because you are connected doesn't mean you have access as of yet) Ok so here's the trick to it all you must select other then type in your network name same as your wii-fii name for example mine is a # yours maybe speedstreamer560 etc  and then enter security code which is usually found on the back or bottom of your modem it will usually be a very very long # if it is wep you may also have wpa wpa2 etc your modem's sticker will let you know what you have so make sure under the security tab you press the > to select the security that applies to you. then yousave it or press done I forget it says and you will be connected but you must make positively sure you typed in all the right info especially those of you with wep theres like a combo of letters & #'s totaling 26 so just one mistake & no connect.     So it's been a week & I've been trying to get my ipod to connect to the Internet. I searched up EVERYTHING of how to fix your wifi connections & stuff, & nothing worked. my ipod keeps telling me to put the internet password in when I aleady did (and its the right password). When I am only close to the router, it'll give me wifi, but when I am upstairs or some other place, it will not give me wifi.     because a factory-resetted iPod has no connection to your Apple-ID naturally. To Itunes / Apple it is just a brandnew device. They can't disable it remotely. Technically maybe, but not legally.
    Your only hope would be the police. Give them the serialnumber of the device. But chances are near to nothing to have it ever returned. I myself have had one stolen and it never was found and was never localized with the "find my iphone" tool. The thief has obviously wiped it and is happily using it.
    iPhones are in a better boat, they can be tracked by their IMEI code. Whenever a phone logs it into a cellular network, this code is transmitted. But wifi-only devices don't have that.

    I'm using wifi, and I put the correct password in and it connects. It shows the little wifi signal strength icon in the top left also. But when I try to open safari or any other internet reliant app it says there is no internet connection available. I am sending this question from my laptop, which is using the same wifi, so it is not the router. I have tried resetting the network setting on the iPod, and doing a full restore all to no success.

    Despite the WiFi connection sign you may not really be connected to your WiFi network.
    Your router may not have given your iPad a valid IP address. Go to Settings > Wifi > your network name and touch the ">" to the right to see the network details. If the IP address starts with 169 or is blank then your router didn't provide an IP address and you won't be able to access the Internet. The 169.254.x.y is a link-local address and is intended only for communication on the local network. The x and y are random numbers. The iPad assigns this address when it receives no IP address from the DHCP server (which is probably your router). This allows communication on a local network with no DHCP server. This is sometimes referred to as an "ad-hoc" network.
    Your other devices may continue to function with their existing IP address even if the DHCP daemon in your router is no longer issuing address. The fact that other devices on the network continue to work should not lead to the conclusion that your network router is faultless.
    Sometimes the fix can be as simple as restarting your router (remove power for 30 seconds and restart). This works because the DHCP daemon in your router will be restarted upon a router restart. Next, reset network settings on your iPad (Settings > General > Reset > Reset network settings) and then attempt to connect. In other cases it might be necessary to update the router's firmware with the latest from the manufacturer's support web pages.
    If you need more help please give more details on your network, i.e., your router make, model and version, the wifi security being used (WEP, WPA, WPA2), etc.

    Normally I would recommend this...
    Plug in the iPod, uncheck the box to show artwork on the iPod then sync the iPod (all artwork will be removed from the iPod).
    When it is done, reselect that check box and sync the iPod again (all artwork added to iPod).
    This often times clears up display issue with artwork on the iPod.
    However, I don't think you get the show artwork option for the iPhone, correct?
