  • Hi am looking to buy the new ipad when on holiday in vegas can any one tell me if i can use a british sim in it thanks

hi am looking to purchase the mew ipad when on holiday in vegas can anyone tell me if i can use a british sim in it thanks

Using a UK SIM suggests that you will be accessing 3G data in the States using your UK card.  The cost of this is likely to be horrendous.  Advice: DON'T use a UK SIM abroad for data access, buy a local SIM at your destination and top it up as necessary.  Example: my local telco charges me 1p/Mb for 3G data at home; if I roam in Europe they charge £3.58/Mb.

  • How to delete entire time machine backup folder? as well as any backups placed in the trash

trying to free up a drive by deleting the back ups folder. Tried to do it via trash and ended up getting error 8003 or somthing. tried deleting a backup individualy but found that i now have the file stuck in my trash. Did not think it would be this hard tbh. Is there any fast and effeciant way of getting rid of these files?

Just to be sure I understand ... you do not want to erase the TM drive because there are files that are not part of TM on that drive?
If that is the case you can copy those other files to some other drive, before you erase.
Or do you just want to purge the drive of theTM files and leave the rest in place?

  • Re. apps - why not have a red ring around all apps connecting to the internet - so you can see which apps you can use off line ??

I was travelling in europe using both by iphone and my ipad.
My kids was using both, not knowing that they was using the internet  (3G) for some games.
It would be great if you could see on the apps whether they connect to the internet or not  - today you can only guess !

Not sure why you've posted this in the iBooks forum. But if you want to leave feedback for Apple then you can do so here http://www.apple.com/feedback

  • I have a free agent desk 500GB external hard drive.  Since updating my iMac OS to mountain lion recently, it will no longer backup, stating "an error occurred while creating the backup folder".  Can anyone help me with this?

I have a free agent desk 500 GB external hard drive.  Since updating my iMac OS to Mountain Lion it no longer backs up through Time Maching like it did in the past.  Now, after completing its work it says, "Unable to complete backup.  An error occurred while creating the backup folder."  I cannot find any sites that help me fix this.  Do I need to purchase a new external hard drive?

  • HT1414 I'm trying to restore from an earlier backup but my iphone only shows the most recent. I'm on Windows Vista and found the backup folder. If I delete the recent files, will it force the iPhone to backup from the next older file?  Why doesn't it show

I'm trying to recover a file and the app company said to restore from an earlier backup.  My iPhone only shows the most recent backup.  I've been searching the net for answers - I found the back up file and date sorted them (over 6mb of files).  How can I get my iPhone to restore from an earlier backup?
I am on Windows Vista so I don't have Time Machine.
I have backed up the backup folder so if I mess it up, I have it in a separate place.
Can I just delete all the files with todays date in that backup folder and have it forced to the next oldest date?
Why doesn't the iPhone show a list of the least several backups.
    Info:
    iPhone 4S
    Software version  5.1.1
Backed up to computer through iTunes (not iCloud)

As you backup the iPhone in iTunes, it overwrites the last backup. Files are kept as they are changed, so that would explain how you get different dates in your backup folder. The only backups that are saved and not overwritten are the ones done just prior to a restore. You do have the option to go back in time on a Windows computer, however depending on the last time you set a restore point in Windows, it could be back further than you are willing to go.

  • Accidentally I have deleted my Time Machine Backup but deleted files are in the Trash !

Accidentally deleted my Time Machine backkups but all files are in the Trash. I am copying my files from Trash folder to another Portable Drive just incase I will not be able to restore my files as Put Back is not working because seems Time Machine backups is a part large database.
Is there anyway I can restore the files to Time Machine again? If there is, could you please tell me step by step ! If there is not any procedures, please advise me what should I do in this stage?

  • By backing up the iTunes Library via saving the iTunes folder on an external drive, is it also backing up all iPad and iPhone backups as well as App Data and Documents from your devices?

If I backup my iTunes Library by saving the iTunes folder on an external hard drive using the instructions contained in the link below, will it also back up all my iPad and iPhone backups as well as App Data and Documents from my devices? In other words, will it also create backups for the backups? Thank you.
Back up your iTunes library by copying it to an external drive
Furthermore, when it is time to restore the iTunes folder I copied to my external drive to a new iTunes program on my new computer, how will it merge the information once I plug in my iPad or iPhone to that new laptop to sync? If I did the iTunes library backup a couple months ago and I've added documents/music/pictures on my devices since then, what will happen when I try to sync it with the new laptop now working off of the iTunes library backup from a couple months ago since the information is no longer the same? Which information will dominate and thus be kept? Will it delete the new information/data/pictures/documents/music off of the devices since it is not on the iTunes program when it syncs?
Sorry for so many questions, but they are all related to backing up and restoring iTunes. I am not very tech savvy if you cannot tell

It would be a good idea to look into a bigger hard drive. They are not that expensive any more and can save a lot of headach. This is even more important if you are buying music from the iTunes music store. If you lost those files they are gone.
The point of having it on your PC and iPod is to have a backup. If the iPod fails, or you need to go back to the DVDs and find they are scratched, or just can not be read you have lost days of work converting and organizing all of those songs.
Or the iPod could hard drive could fail and then you will have to try to bring all of those files back from DVDs. You end up with a mess since some songs will probably be on multiple DVDs, have different names ect. Trying to reorganize it all can be a pain.

  • How can I restore my iphone 4s to a previous backup I can see in the backup folder?

Ok, here's a question for the restore/ backup pros.
On 1/4/14 I thought I would back up my iPhone 4s because it had been over a year (yeah, I know not a good idea to wait so long) since I had last backed it up (8/13/12, to be exact).  So, when I connected it to my computer, iTunes recommended I update the iTunes software.  So, I did.  Somewhere in the middle of the update I noticed that my iPhone kinda "rebooted" and I saw what a friend of mine referred to as the "restore iPhone" image on it.
Then, I received an error message from iTunes saying that there was a problem with my iPhone & that I would have to restore it to factory settings.  WTH!!!!
I went ahead and befored the restore.  Oddly enough, I seemed to get all my data back.  Heck, I even got emails & contacts that I added minutes before I tried to back it up.  I thought I had dodged a bullet & then I started to notice Apps that were missing & other Apps that I had deleted long ago back on the iPhone.
Then, other anomolies surfaced, like photos missing, contacts missing, & worst of all the App that I used to store some really preceious pictures, photo vault, was also gone (and all my most precious pictures).  Those pics were not in my camera roll any longer as I had moved them to this App.
Okay, I studied all I could on the net & learned where the backup files are stored on my computer and huh, it looks likes it took a back up right before (during?) the iTunes update that caused all this mess.  The problem is, iTunes doesn't show this backup as one I can select when trying to restore it.
My Question is, "How can I restore my iPhone to the backup dated 1/4/14 that I can clearly see in the backup folder?"
    Many thanks,  psmcpher

oops.  typo:  "I went ahead and befored the restore."  should be... I went ahead and performed the restore.

  • HT3275 An error occurred while creating the backup folder.

What about : Unable to complete backup. An error occurred while creating the backup folder.
I have an external drive for my TM backup
when the computer starts the drive is mounted
TM starts a backup shortly after starting and is successfully completed
Then a couple of hours later TM attempts a backup and i get the error
Unable to complete backup. An error occurred while creating the backup folder.
If i dismount the drive and remount and do a manual TM backup it works
If I delete the TM partition and recreate it and start fresh backups it will continue to work for a number of days then it fails as per above, just working the first time after a restart or a remount
I thought it may be the drive spinning down bit there are 2 partitions on the drive one for TM and one as storage, so I set up a batch copy to keep a small file copy every 2 min
and i have watched TM count down and the drive has activity
The is discussed a lot in other places on the internet, but Apple support look to have avoided the subject
    Come on Apple Support

I believe my Time Capsule is out of space and isn't removing older backups to create space for itself.  Time Machine preferences says only 98 MB available on the 1 TB volume.  I have used Pondini's superb troubleshooting page with the following results:

Yes, it's so full it can't get started -- not even far enough to start deleting old backups.
If you have other data there (not usually a good idea), move some of it elsewhere temporarily, and try again.
If not, manually delete a couple of old backups, and "compact" the sparse bundle, per Time Machine - Frequently Asked Question #12.
