I have Firefox 7.0.1 for Mac and there is no "Import" under File menu that allows me to import bookmarks.

I am using Firefox 7.0.1 on my Mac OS 10.7.2, and there's no "Import" option on the File menu so I can import my bookmarks from Safari.

"Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks" has been renamed to "Show All Bookmarks" in Firefox 4 and later.

I would do another rename to disable or just delete all the OldFilm.AEX and OldFilm.AEXOLD in that NewBlue Folder.
If you do, please let me know if that OldFilm.AEX regenerates itself the next time you open Premiere Elements 13.
Here is the strange story...at least from my Premiere Elements 13 Windows perspective...never had the No Disc error issue
Here are some details to sort through trying to figure out why you have 2 OldFilm.AEX file in the NewBlue Folder.
1. The original OldFilm.AEX file of Premiere Elements 13 has the date of 9/4/2014 (just before the version was released on 9/24/2014).
After the 13.1 update is done (whenever date), that OldFilm.AEX file has the date of 1/31/2015. I first saw notification of the 13.1 Update
release early in February 2015.
2. Now in Premiere Elements 13.1, if I take my OldFilm.AEX (date 1/31/2015) and disable it by renaming it to OldFilm.AEXOLD, close out of there, and reopen
the program, the OldFilm.AEX is not seen to regenerate. The OldFilm.AEXOLD remains there as its lone self.
3. So, I am thinking that your OldFilm.AEXOLD in the screenshoot is "original equipment" that you disabled to get rid of No disc error.
Why the OldFilm.AEX is there also is not clear, but the dating on it suggests that it came along with the 13.1 Update.
Bottom line: let us try the deletion or disabling one more time and see what happens.

Partitioning Drive for Mac and PC to deliver 10GB video file

I need to deliver several video files to a client on a drive.
Because some of the clips are over 10GB I cannot use the drive in its current FAT state.
I want / need the drive to be read by both Mac AND PC.
If this is the case, and I cannot use FAT, should I partition the drive into TWO partitions?
If so, should I then make one partition for Mac and the other for PC... then upload the video files twice, once to each partition?
Is there an alternative? How do I make the drive partitioned for both allowing the video to be ready by both Mac and PC.
Can I do what needs to be done using Disk Utility?
What 2 formats should I use? Is MS-DOS (FAT) the windows based partition, and is that the only one? And won't that not work for my issue of needing to load a file over 4 gigs?
What partition scheme do I want? It appears I can only use one partition scheme... or is this incorrect?

I think I am following the correct procedure -- I went to the Firefox bookmark manager, followed the path Import HTML/from an HTML file, and then located the Navigator file "bookmarks.html" inside my users folder. But I click on Open, the window closes, and nothing happens.

Thank you for your help. Some bookmarks had been inserted into 3.6.15 before I attempted the import, and I had assumed -- incorrectly -- that the imported bookmark file would override those, not just add onto them. When I looked lower on the list of bookmarks, I realized that the imported bookmarks were, indeed, there. I was also confused because the bookmarks toolbar did not automatically change to the toolbar from Navigator. All is well now. Again, thank you.

Word 2008 for Mac and NFS mounted home directories "Save File" issues

Greetings everyone,
(Long time lurker, first time poster here)
I admin a small network (under 20 workstaitons) with a centralized NFS server, with user home directories mounted via NFS upon login. Users are authenticated via LDAP. This is all working fine, there is no problem here. The problem lies when my users use Microsoft Word 2008 for Mac. When they attempt to save a file to thier Desktop (or Documents or any folder under thier home dir) they are met with the following message:

"Word cannot save or create this file. The disk maybe be full or write-protected. Try one or more of the following: * Free more memory. * Make sure the disk you want to save the file on is not full, write-protected or damaged. (document-name.ext)"
This happens regardless of file format (Doc, Docx, Txt) and regardless of saved location under the network mounted dir. I've noticed that when saving Word creates a .tmp file in the target directory, which only further confuses me to the underlying cause of the issue.
When users logon to a local machine account and attempt the save, there is no issue.
I have found many posts in other commuity forums, including this one, indicating that the issue is a .TempoaryItems folder in the root of the mounted directory. This folder already exists and is populated with entries such as "folder.2112" (where 2112 is the uid of the LDAP user). I find other posts indicating that this is an issue with Word:2008 and OSX10.8, with finger pointing in either direction, but no real solution.
I have installed all Office for Mac updates from Microsoft (latest version 12.3.6).
I have verified permissions of the user's home dir.
I have also ensured that this issue effects ONLY Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac apps, LibreOffice and other applications have no issue.
Does *ANYONE* have a solution or workaround for this issue? While we're trying to phase Microsoft products out, getting users to ditch Word and Excel is difficult without removing them from systems completely. So any pointers or help would be greatly appreciated.

I can't tell you how to fix bugs in an obsolete version of Office, but a possible workaround is to use mobile home directories under OS X Server. The home directories are hosted locally and synced with the server.

My friend and I both have Firefox 3.6.8 for Mac but when we access the same Horde email account his menus are a mess and mine aren't - why?

My menus run along the top, his are vertical. I've tried everything to replicate his problem, including changing the zoom settings, using no page style, changing character sets, blocking images and Javascript but nothing will cause this in my browser window.

I believe that google asks for billing information to verify you are who you say you are. Have you written to google exlaining the situation? I would try circumventing their automated methods cause often real people can provide help that an automated system cannot. This should prove true with your recovery methods for apple as well.
Second, anything purchased on that account will come unsuable with a different account. If your son's account cannot be recovered with apple or google and you do wish to activate a new apple ID to that ipod consider this. I have a family of four, we each have different iOS devices. However, we all use one apple ID that i created nearly a decade ago to purchase everything. I don't use that email address anymore except as my apple ID. Why: cause everything I have EVER purchased is tied to it. It allows me to play any content any of my family purchases on any of devices.
I know you may not want to see genius recommendations based on their purchases but it'll help in the future when something like this may happen again.

After the upgrade to Firefox 3.6.6 for Mac I can't view/hear Flash files

I upgraded to 3.6.6 last night and now this morning I can't see Flash-based files - YouTube videos, embedded YouTube videos, sound files from DivShare, etc. On the YouTube site itself the sound kicks in when you open a video page, but just a blank space where the video should be; same with embedded videos on web pages - just a big blank space. Is there a fix for this?

I´ve got the same problem on my private Mac Book (running latest OSX 10.6.4)! YouTube videos does not display any "Play" (or other "grey control bar" icons... This happened after running the latest Flash Player OSX update 10.1...
The strange thing is that this works fine on my Mac Book Pro (work computer) running the same Firefox V.3.6.6 and OSX 10.6.4. as well as the latest Flash Player OSX update 10.1.
Anyone got any clues on this strange topic?
