I HAVE FOUND THE SOLUTION FOR THE FIRMWARE UPDA

I'm sure most all of you have had this same problem I <strike>had:</strike> When you try to install the firmware update it says 'Plug in your player'!!? A very frusterating message mainly when your player is CLEARLY plugged in. So here's how I came about my solution!?I endlessly searched on this support forum, and I found that several people had found the solution several different ways!? Then other people have tried other's solutions, and it worked for some, but not all!?The forums have obviously pointed the problem at the computer, and not the player. They are halfly right, the problem isn't what you do on the player, but it's what they do to the player. I figured that there was something that the succesfull posters?did in the mean-time between posts that the unsuccesfull posters didn't do. It also didn't make sense, like others said was the problem, that it was Windows Media Player!? They said that you needed to roll it back, downgrade, to WMP 9 or 0. This made absolutely no sense to me because when I brought up WMP , and 0 for that matter, it recognized 'creative ZEN touch' under the 'synch' tab. After I found the solution, sorry for writing so long about how instead of just what it is: I just wanted to make it clear that this is the solution, I told my dad what it was!?He said that it made perfect sense because when my older brother tried to upgrade his firmware on his Dell MP3 Player, a message said that:It must be fully charged!?Beore you mess up your computer deleting all of these files and waste your time, try plugging your player into the wall at the same time it's plugged into the computer!? Then run your firmware update and bravo!? You are back in buisness!?Here is what to do in a little easier reading format:?. Plug your player into the wall.2. a. Plug your player into the computer.?b. (your player, at least my ZEN touch, should have the 'Docked' screen up. I'm not completely sure how this comes about, but I think that it'll appear that way while downloading the firmware update.)? If not, then try it anyways!3. Go to http://us.creative.com/support/downloads/?and search by product!4. Macs! I have found a solution for an u44m1p7 error.

This might not be the cause for your problem, but have a look at the error log (shown when you press More Information after the update fails) and see if there is any mention of Adobe folder in Applications not being there to load the necessary patches.
It relates to Applications/Adobe folder.
Look at your folder, then see if it is actually a proper folder, and not a tiny Unix file (a dark grey icon). If it is little file delete it.
Re install the photoshop or indesign app, and it should work.
For non techies like me, the reason is that the patches need a home to go in. The computer is getting confused between a folder and a file with the same 'Adobe' name. Now you've deleted it the installer can create it's own in that place and put all the patches in there.
Adobe team- please check this and let people know.
If anyone else has this problem, share if it has worked.

Please check "Applications" folder, you would see a file named "Adobe".
Kindly delete the file, as it is corrupt.
Create a folder "Adobe" in Applications folder, issue should be fixed.

This seems to be an annoying part of the newer OS. When I first got my Pearl in 2008, I didn't have that occur. However once the OS got upgraded, and now with the Tour, it seems like that is the way it works. Not clear to me why they would have thought this is preferable.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)

You are asking several different questions. If you need to store your photos, music, and movies on an external volume, you certainly can. Any externally connected hard disk drive will work, connected either directly to your Mac or to your Time Capsule as a shared volume.
You should not rely upon using that as a backup device though. Although you certainly may use it for both purposes, it is a better idea to have dedicated backup devices for a variety of reasons not limited to redundancy. You would not want to simultaneously lose all your pictures as well as your backup. If they are all on the same device, that could happen. Furthermore, a backup cannot back up the volume on which it is running.
As for adding an Extreme or Express, using its LAN port for your iMac, and then enable Internet sharing so you can effectively use the iMac as a "hotspot", you can do that too, but I am unclear on what benefit you believe this arrangement would convey for you.
An Extreme's Guest network is separate from its Main network; that is the reason for having it.

Did you install LabVIEW first on your PXIe 8102 before the drivers? Most likely, you're missing LabVIEW support for your DAQmx drivers. Fortunately, this is an easy fix. What you should do is open Add/Remove Programs, select National Instruments Software, select Uninstall/Repair. In the window that pops up listing NI software, select NI-DAQmx 9.x and select Modify. In the window that appears, expand Application Development Support and select to install LabVIEW support. From here complete the install process and restart your system. LabVIEW support should be installed and DAQ Assistant should appear in your palette.

Turning your Mac into a clock radio.
1. In iTunes create a playlist that contains just the radio station you want to wake up to.
2. Export the playlist (as .m3u works well). Get Info on your playlist file and look at the Open With entry to make sure it points to iTunes, VLC or some other app that will stream your station.
3. In iCal create an event entry at the time you want to wake up.
4. Right (or Control) click on your wakeup event and select Get Info.
5. For "alarm" select Open File.
6. Now under Open File there will be a place to add the file to open. It will probably be some default entry (like iCal). Click on it will allow you to select "other." Then use the file dialog to select your playlist file.
Your Mac will wake you up at the appointed time. You don't need to keep iCal running. If you want to put you Mac to sleep for the night then there is one more thing you need to do. Open System Preferences to Energy Saver and click on the Schedule button. Check Start up or wake and set the wake up time to slightly before your iCal alarm time.

That is not a feature of iPhoto - suggest to Apple - iPhoto Menu ==> provide iPhoto feedback.

The drive is approximately 4 years old. When the drive is plugged in, I can see the data. It appears to be working properly. The only problem is that everyone of my Apple Machines are ejecting it. Several years ago, this drive connected to Mac machines with no problems. I have tried two separate USB cords. I have updated the firmware. I have tried it on my MacBook, two different Macbook Pro's, and my iMac.
All give the same result of random ejection of the drive and the error message of:
Disk Not Ejected Properly
Eject "1TB Passport HD" before disconnecting or turning......
Searching through the web, it seems this is an common/known problem. Does anyone know the solution?

Has anyone found a solution for fixing the dvd reading problems after installing snow leopard?

I installed snow leopard on my macpro tower and my dvd player will not read dvds. My archived dvd all come up blank but on my laptop their fine. All my other dvds are just spit out. I have seen hundreds of post about this in the forums but I haven't come across a solution. Apple told me they have never come across this issue which is disturbing to say the least.

Thanks, I did see that thread and way too many others like it. My drive was working fine up to the minute I installed snow leopard and now I can't read all my archived dvds of the last 5 years of my work. Nor will it read the training dvd "New" that I just bought. It also won't even read the iwork disc that came with snow leopard. Of course all these disc work fine on my other make that didn't get the snow leopard upgrade. Apple support told me they never heard of anything like this. I took it to the apple store and they think it the dvd drive itself. Please, it plays cds fine and accepts new dvd media...some. Countless people have had their drives go out right after the snow leopard install.
I'm sorry but what happens to a dvd player or what hardware problem happens to only allow a player to read a few dvds but all cds. Could someone explain to me what breaks. Apple saying I need to by a new dvd player from them is crazy. Why do I get the feeling that if I install snow leopard on my other machine that the dvd player will also break. How also can apple not have any record of this happening to others.
I work with windows machines and linux boxes and Macs and I'm sorry I trusted an upgrade to a mac os that has been around for a while. If I would have checked the forums the way I do with anything I work with I guarantee I would not have upgrade to snow leopard after seeing all the people out their with this issue. OK, I THINK I HAVE FOUND THE FIX TO RESTORE CONTACTS, CALENDAR ETC

Try this.......takes about 2 mins
1. In itunes, top left click edit
2. when it opens click preference
3. when it opens click devices
4. this shows all your back ups
5. select the back up you want.
6. close that window
7. go to your iphone symbol on left and side and click to open
8. click restore from back up and hopefully it will work.
it says it will only work for contacts calendar etc and not change firmware.
I cannot try this as my phone is newer than my back up....different serial etc.
but if someone trys this and it works, please post that it works.

After installing new software onto my iPhone, applications are visible in iTunes, I have selected the Applications to sync, and after the sync is finished, the applications are not actually on the iPhone. I have tried several times, which resulted in losing all of my applications from phone. I have troubleshooted and the most useful solution was to do with the restrictions of the App Store, although this is not the case for my scenario.

The market value of those old iMacs is very low now, so I hope that you aren't paying any more than $30 for one. What model are you purchasing - the original with a tray-loading optical drive or the newer style with a slot-loading drive? If the latter, which model (processor speed) is it? You shouldn't buy one manufactured before built-in FireWire became standard, because you'll want a faster bus for external peripherals. The built-in USB ports are limited to USB 1.1 speed, which is quite slow for an external CD/DVD burner or hard drive. Before installing OS X, a tray-loading iMac should have firmware version 1.2 and a slot-loading iMac should have version 4.1.9. Additionally, the iMac should have adequate available storage capacity on the hard drive, as well as adequate installed memory. The OS 10.2.x (Jaguar) installer disk should be a retail (universal installer) disk, and not another Mac's Restore disk. One other point to mention concerns the hours of useage that the iMac has had. High-mileage iMacs often have problems with the P-A-V (Power/Analog/Video) board failing, which renders the computer useless. Replacement is a job for an experienced tech, because of the high-voltage shock hazard involved. Additionally, new P-A-V boards aren't available and used ones have questionable remaining service life. Just keep this in mind.

While the iRi'ver has some great features like dri've letter support (driverless operation), line-in and a color screen, do NOT plan to use it as a photo viewing device unless you want to waste alot of time and greatly reduce your battery life. The few I have played with take a freaking long time (upwards of a full minute) to load a picture of any decent quality, and you cannot make picture slideshows with music.
If you like the color screen realize that it's main use will be to view album art in color while listening to music and thats about it. Even if you do hack it using the korean firmware and then watch movies on it they don't run very well and, lets face it, that sceen is tiny.
I previously had a Archos Multimedia Jukebox which was about the first mp3 player with a color screen, pic capabability, and video player. I might have used the video and picture features twice in the three years I used it. If you really want a device that does a good job with their color screen look at Samsung, Philips, and Arhcos (the newer AV20's and such).

Purchases are tied to the Apple ID they were purchased with. If you use a new ID, you have to buy again.
