If you are trying to sync via iCloud, make sure your MacBook is running OSX Lion 10.7.7, and that you have set up your iPhone as described here: http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/ and you MacBook as described here: http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/mac.htm (including turning On Contacts and Calendars as shown in step 3). If you're syncing via iCloud don't check to sync in iTunes too (on the Info tab in iTunes) or you may end up with duplicate data.

I know it seems like it should be a simple thing to do but I just got my iPad today and was trying to get my contacts and calendar that I have on my iPhone over to the iPad. I then realized that none of my contacts and calendars that I have created on my phone are on my computer... So I went to iTunes>Devices>Info and checked to sync my calendars and contacts and also made sure the replaceinfo my my iphone with content on this computer was UNchecked... but nothing has shown up in my iCal or Contacts on the computer... I am unsure of what to do!

I don't mean to sound silly, but after you checked to sync the info, did you do a sync?
you do have the option to sync between devices via iCloud. however you may wish to back up the info if you can because iCloud ate all my contacts.
Another more tedious way is to e-mail your contacts, one at a time, and open the e-mail on your iPad and computer and save it.

Go>Preferences>Language & Text>Input Sources
Click off the flags of the countries you want--like if you need a British keyboard that has a British pound symbol, pick that one.
When you're done picking, them leave preferences. Now, in the upper right-hand corner of your computer, next to the date, you'll see a little flag. Click on that. You'll see all the flags you picked. Choose the one you want. Your keyboard will now give you the symbols, letters, etc. that you would get if you'd bought the computer in that country.

Try the other USB port. If it still doesn't show up in Disk Utility then there may be something wrong with your Mac. Try something else in each USB port and see if it is seen. If the other thing, like a USB thumb drive, does show up in disk utiltiy then the USB ports are fine.
Power down the system and restart with the drive connected, go to DU and see it it is seen.

Sounds like you have multiple Apple IDs, which causes a myriad of issues. Go here to straighten it out. Be forewarned that it's a pain.

Ziatron is correct that Flash does not work on an iPad, but it does work on a Mac. See Adobe Flash Player 11.2.202.160.

I am sorry to hear about your unfortunate mistake Catri. It should not be too difficult to sell your DVD for slightly less than you paid for it. It is too late to help you now but the following may help others reading this post.
Many people are happy with OS X 10.5.8 but if you want to update here is my general advice:
To get information about your Mac click the apple (screen top left) and select About this Mac. This will give you your OS number. Then click More Info to see which Processor you have. If it says PowerPC you cannot upgrade to Snow Leopard and above as these OSs are for Intel only. You can discover more about various Macs at: http://www.apple-history.com/
The OS numbers and names are:
OS X 10.4.x - Tiger
OS X 10.5.x - Leopard
OS X 10.6.x - Snow Leopard
OS X 10.7.x - Lion
OS X 10.8.x - Mountain Lion
If you have an Intel Mac it is well worth upgrading to Snow Leopard now and then considering other options after that.
