I have Movies on my iMac that I want to share with Apple TV. How do I do that without also having them synch to my iPhone. The movies exceed the capacity of the iPhone.
I have Movies on my iMac that I want to share with Apple TV. I have no problem getting the movies to show up and play on Apple TV. However, when I synch my iPhone to to my iMac all of the movies try to synch to the iPhone and this exceeds the available capacity (32) of the iPhone. So the question is, how do I make the movies available on Apple TV but not synch to my iPhone?
I looked around some more on my iPhone and did find a video app. So all is well.
Thanks so much for your help!!

Have to Create a new Home Sharing account every time I want to share with Apple TV
Every single time I want to stream media from my PC (Windows 7) to my Apple TV, I have to create a new home share account. I litereally have to get rid of my Home Sharing in both iTunes and on my Apple TV (2nd Gen), and then create a new one, and everything works fine. My Apple TV is hard wired to my computer, so I know it's not a problem with WiFi.
Does anyone else have this problem? Does anyone know how to fix it?My Apple TV sometimes sees my PC iTunes (home sharing) and sometimes not. No configuration changes are needed to make the problem go away or to happen again. No one seems to know why.
I am going to try rebooting PC the next time Apple TV ignores my PC and see if that helps. I have tried everything else. -
I have all of my music on my dad's apple ID (on my Macbook pro and iphone). I want to start using my own apple ID (the one that my iPhone uses for everything except iTunes store) as my iTunes apple ID - how do I do this without losing my old music?
Authorize your computer with your Dad's AppleID.

I have a mid 2007 iMac. 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4 GB 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM, OSX 10.9.5. I attempted to do the latest update and got the message: Start up disk is full. Delete files. How do I do that?
Freeing Up Space on The Hard Drive
1. See Lion/Mountain Lion/Mavericks' Storage Display.
2. You can remove data from your Home folder except for the /Home/Library/ folder.
3. Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on freeing up space on your hard drive.
4. Get an external hard drive on which to store some of your files after which you can
erase the data from your internal drive to free up space.
5. Also see Freeing space on your Mac OS X startup disk.
6. See Where did my Disk Space go?.
7. See The Storage Display.
You must Empty the Trash in order to recover the space they occupied on the hard drive.
You should consider replacing the drive with a larger one. Check out OWC for drives, tutorials, and toolkits.
Try using OmniDiskSweeper 1.8 or GrandPerspective to search your drive for large files and where they are located. -
How can I wipe a drive on an old iMac that won't stay on long enough to complete the task?
How can I wipe a drive on an old iMac that won't stay on long enough to complete the task?
Do you have access to another Mac? If so contact the two via a Firewire cable, boot your problem Mac into Target Disk Mode, Transferring files between two computers using FireWire,, and try to use Disk Utiltiy from the second Mac to reformat and erase your hard drive.

I have an Intel based iMac that has just developed two small spots on the screen - they look light brighter spots on the screen. One 1/8" circle at bottom right and a tiny circle at top right. The fading on and off light on area surrounding the screen isn't working anymore either. Has anyone else had similar problems? Any solutions? Thanks!
One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for problem in Safe Mode...
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive
Reboot, test again.
If it only does it in Regular Boot, then it could be some hardware problem like Video card, (Quartz is turned off in Safe Mode), or Airport, or some USB or Firewire device, or 3rd party add-on, Check System Preferences>Accounts>Login Items window to see if it or something relevant is listed.
Check the System Preferences>Other Row, for 3rd party Pref Panes.
Also look in these if they exist, some are invisible...

I have an Imac that is a year and a half old and the front of it just fell off and it wont work now. Has this ever happened to anyone?
If you have Apple care and the problem occured without misuse on your part ... it can be replaced without charge.

I have a late 2006 iMac that has just started giving me a message to reboot after a black screen comes down slowly from the top top of the screen to the bottom. I reloaded software and restored from Time Machine, but it keeps happening, now several tomes a day. Any insight as to the issue or a proposed solution?
Unplug any peripherals you have except your keyboard, reboot, and check activity monitor for apps. Keep running apps to a minimum to find the App causing the issue.

Where did 30GB of unused space on my SSD main drive go? I have a mid 2011 iMac that until yesterday had just 54GB of space occupied on the primary drive. I imported 45 minutes of video from an SD card. Could that have used up the space?
I added an SSD to my 27" 2011 iMac. Although Sahidus is absolutely correct, it is much easier to add an SSD replacing the optical drive, it wasn't that bad to add it using an entirely seperate cable using SATA-III. To me it is worth the extra hassle to install a SATA-III SSD. This is where you are going to get maximum performance.
Although it appears complicated, if you go slow, the procedure to install an SSD drive isn't too bad. It takes at most 3 hours, as long as you are prepared and have all the parts and tools.
http://www.btobey.com/learn/imac-ssd-install.php
This describes how I did it. Now I get awesome data performance from my iMac!
I think the 21.5" may be more difficult to find where to place the SSD. But im sure it is possible. Just be creative. -

I recently purchased a new laptop and have some music on it that I would like to add to my iphone. And vice versa so I can sync them. What is the best way?
iDevices are not backup devices.
Copy the ENTIRE iTunes folder from the old computer or the backup of the old computer to the new computer, then sync the device to the computer.
Attempts to sync the device to the new computer will remove all content from the device and replace it with content from the new computer/library. -
I am have trouble with 2 new 21.5" iMacs losing wifi connection from my network. I have 4 other vintage iMacs that never lose connection. Please help.
This subject has been talked/written about a lot, after Lion was introduced. A solution from Apple has not yet been published, everybody is waiting.
Try for instance https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3734081?start=15&tstart=0, but there are more discussion groups with the same subject: frequently lost WiFi-connections in newer Macs running Lion or up. -

Mac OS X v10.6.8 or v10.7
