Simple answer:
do not use the email address when sending or replying or forwarding emails. Sending is not automatic, you have to generate the email and click on a Send button.
You could use an smtp server that will not allow sending using the incorrect server for the email address, so that it cannot send, but if you accidentally use the email address you may get an error message, but at least the email will not be sent. Do this here:
Tools > Account Settings for the mail account.
bottom right Outgoing Server - select one that will not accept sending using wrong email address
OR
in Outgoing Server(SMTP) select the server you are using for that account
click on 'Edit'
deliberately make an error in the server name - remove the port details etc.
So the details are wrong and cannot send.

If you abandon one of the Apple IDs you will also basically be abandoning any content that you have acquired with that Apple ID. Content can only be updated and re-downloaded with the Apple ID that was used to buy it. Apple will not combine the content of Apple IDs and Apple will not transfer the content from one Apple ID to another Apple ID.

Have multiple devices associated with one Apple ID: iPod Touch and Ipad Mini stopped sending/receiving iMessages and FaceTime all of a sudden

This is the listing of what we have:
Ipod Touch 4th Gen for daughter
Ipod Touch 5th Gen for another daughter
Ipad 3
Ipad Mini
Iphone 4S
Iphone 4S
For sharing/downloading convenience, all of these are linked to one apple ID. iMessage and FaceTime were working flowlessly when we set it up. Yes, there was a problem initially where some devices were receiving someone else's texts, but they were resolved when I went to Settings and chose a specific # or email address for each DEVICE (so there's no overlapping)
All of a sudden, my daughter's Ipod Touch 4th Gen started having problems sending messges. Sending bar will go up to the end then stop right before it gets completely full--end result, message not delivered. I tried to facetime her, but nothing happens. Sometimes when I try facetiming ipod touch 4th, I'd get an error message '____ is not available for FaceTime'
I've confirmed the email address associated with ipod Touch 4 has been added and verified under my apple ID. I've tried restoring the iPod in iTunes, hard resetting the unit, turning off and on iMessage/FaceTime... and still doesn't work.
All our software is up to date. By the time I started thinking maybe ipod touch 4th gen is getting old, my husband's newly bought ipad MINI started having the same problem.

We're screwwwwwed! Not THAT familiar to apple, just barely plugging along and dove in with two ipads and two ipod touches. Previous experience was just two ipods (160 GB) that I had to still rotate audio books out of every few months... well, for me. My wife doesn't use hers as much. ANYWAY, I lost a zillion things with the ipod classic since it didn't have a back-up option and many of the CDs I scrounged up when it first came out were already lucky to have survived college. 8 years later and the computer that had the original files had been replaced umpteen times. ipods failed and decided to quit being a tight wad. I tried what you suggested - but to no success. The problem came up when I was re-entering the new settings. If I left it as using DHCP it would run for a few seconds with no IP address, then drop in a 169.254 one which would not connect through. To overcome this I tried using the 'Using DHCP with manual address' option and entered in an address which it had set up from the clone boot. This appeared to be okay. When I then tried renewing DHCP lease sometimes that address held. When I tried connecting though - no sight of the internet, and the exclamation mark was across the wifi icon in the menu bar. If I switched it to Using DHCP it would randomly fall back to the 169.254 address.
The only significant differences I could see when cross checking all the settings info was in the WINS panel the NetBIOS had a slightly different configuration of the name - but as they ended in the same numbers I assumed they were the same. And, when looking under Keychain Access, in the System section list (it also appeared in the login section) additional info box they had different locations - 28 characters in four groups. I don't have a clue what this refers to. Also the allow access list in the boot clone included System Preferences, but did not in the Snow Leopard boot, so I added it in. With no success.
I am so frustrated I am thinking of giving up. I seen have loads of postings on the net about a variety of problems with wifi connection on Snow Leopard. I have version 10.6.3. Did it get any better in later Snow Leopard ? Or in any of the OS s after that ? It was always so easy and so solid under Leopard - why the h**l did they change it ?

For some reason i now have two iMovie apps on my Mac how do i remove one of them?

Cpould anyone advise me how to remove one of the copies of Imovie from my Mac, unless of course there is any advantage to keeping two of the same app on my Mini.
I have never used imovie yet but perhaps i will in the future.

We have two iphones in our house and they are both on the same itunes account. When I plug in my phone, my number shows up but it syncs giving me the music and contacts from the other phone. Is it possible to have itunes just see the stuff from my phone when I plug it in. I have had to create a new contacts list and I want to store it in itunes because this phone is a back-up phone. My regular iphone is being repaired. When I get back the phone from repairs, I want to be able to sync it so that itunes sees my contacts and not my daughters stuff. Is this possible?

I am looking after 20 ipads each with their own itunes account. Am I able to have more than one itunes account on my computer so that I can sync these ipads when necessary. We don't always buy our songs on itunes. Sometimes we buy the cds and download them onto itunes so i need to attach them to the computer to sync the songs. I will need to do this all on my one computer. Can this be done. If not, what do you do in this instance.

thats tough man, yeah exchanging it is the best option. But why do people always leave a message saying" i'll probably just by an ipod" and it's usually followed by, "even though i don't like apple or ipod" . I mean fine, if u feel like giving up on the zen micro thats fine, i personally don't care if you're going to buy an ipod. for god sakes ipod isn't even the next alternati've mp3 players, theres plenty. From what I've learned by testing it seems you have to put in the quantitiy for each photo. Be sure to send a feature request to Apple via http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html.
