And, on a couple of occasions, I could not get it to play without unplugging and replugging the power.
This also happens sometimes with the 2nd-gen model. I just keep clicking the menu button on the remote every few seconds until I finally get a picture. I've never had to cycle power to resolve it. But sometimes it does take a while. Sometimes the power light even goes out (clicking the menu button turns it back on).
Definitely not elegant. Needs work. But it's "normal", not a problem with your unit.

    Your keyboard will never be right again; it needs to be replaced. There's no effective way to clean sticky stuff out of it. Your Bluetooth module may have been shorted out and destroyed, and it probably isn't dry yet after only 24 hours.
    Take your machine in for repair, and expect a hefty bill in the hundreds of dollars.

  • Safari is locked.  Everything else seems to be working fine

    I am trying to use Safari on my IPad and it is locked.  Everything else in the Ipad works.  I think it because I tried to download some software.

    First close Safari in the multitask window, double click the home key and when the window opens hold your finger on the Safari icon until it starts to wiggle and the red minus sign is in the left corner, touch the minus sign to close the program, then open your settings and click on Safari then click on clear history, then restart your iPad by holding down the on/off and home buttons at the same time until your see the Apple logo.

After following directions several times to go to Finder, iTunes, Get info and "unclick 32-bit mode" it still won't work and i keep getting the smae pop up window. I've rebooted several times also.

    What version of iTunes do you have? The current version of iTunes for Mavericks is 11.1.5 and the default mode is 64 bit. If "Open in 32 bit mode" is checked and you cannot uncheck it are you logged on using an account with administrative priveleges?

  • I have no sound when watching videos or live streams which works fine with IE or Linux on the same system

    I have no sound when watching videos on you tube or live streaming. If I switch to Linux everything is fine in firefox on this system but nothing with firefox in windows. If I use internet explorer everything is fine again, which seems to me to say that the problem lies within firefox 36. Can anyone help with this problem?

    Tried that with the same result. I can't understand why it works with Linux (Ubuntu) and not Windows. IE works as well but I prefer to use Firefox, so I guess I'll just have to switch browsers when playing videos - weird.

    The you tube demo on how to dismantle the mouse lacked a few details, but it got the job done.  Very tricky getting everything back together, but it worked!  Amazing how much trouble a little bit of lint can cause.  Thanks for the advice.  My advice:  be sure you have a well lit, soft non-slip surface and a source of magnification.

  • Love my new ipad.  But after upgrading to ios7 Safari became dodgy.  Now it is frozen in a white screen and nothing will free it.  Everything else on the ipad works fine. I deleted data, history, cookies, etc.  Same problem.  No change after power down.

    Everything worked fine on my new ipad.  After I upgraded to ios7 it still worked fine even if it looked very different.  But Safari started acting strangely (it is starting the same thing on my iPhone 4s, too).  Finally, it froze in state with no URL, no keyboard will come up, I can get Safari to close and start, but not actually function.  I went into settings and deleted all the cookies, data, history, and so forth.  Same state.  I powered down the iPad and restarted.  Same state.  I tried a trick were I held down the button to bring up the power down stripe and then holding down the home button.  Same state. 
    What can I do?  Can I delete Safari and re-install it somehow?  Should I take it to an Apple store?

    Which Word is this? Office 2004 or older is no longer supported by Microsoft and there is malware spread by malicious  .doc files sent as attachments. It's possible these attacks are now occuring in different forms. Just some examples:

  • The "power search" yields no results whatsoever when i attempt to search. Is this a problem with itunes or my computer? Everything else seems to load just fine involving the itunes store.

    I am attempting to search for artists on itunes and for some reason it keeps telling me there are no results when I know I am tying in the correct artist. I have been trying this repeatedly and using different artists and song names and I am still getting no results. Is this a problem with itunes?

    The only thing I would be concerned about is.
    1st, Where did the media come from.
    2nd, Was it clean and free of scratches.
    Most of the CD&DVD Drives in Powerbooks seem to be very very picky about the media they like to play with.
    Always be carefull of the Source from where it came.
    Commercially produced Media is rarely a problem.
    It doesn't take much eiter to make them act silly.

    When I go to the iTunes store, it won't open.  I don't receive an error message of any kind, just a blank black screen.  I have tried to access the store on other devices in my home and it works.  All my music shows up in my library, but nothing will show up when I go to the actual store.  I have updated my software and made sure the date/time are correct.  Everything else seems to be working fine on my computer.  Not sure what is going on, but would really appreciate any help you can give.     I'm expreriencing the same conditions with the same environment.  Windows 8, iTunes-64 11.1.2.32, iTunes Store with a processing bar up to 80 +/- and the POPUP MESSAGE OF "iTunes stopped working. The error ...."
    I UNINSTALLED, iTUNES WITH NO POSITIVE RESULT.  I CHECKED THE FIREWALL AND IS THE SAME DEFINITION AS THE PREVIOUS ITUNES VERSION.
    My iTunes StoreS from my iPhones ARE OK.

    Ok.
    Open System Preferences, Apple Logo icon in the menu bar and then System Preferences or the Sys Pref iocon in the Dock and go to the Internet Accounts area and look at your iCloud account. It should list what is and isn't synced by a checkmark next to each item.
    Also in the Contacts app click on Contacts in the menu bar and select Preferences then accounts and make sure your iCloud account is listed. You can also do that from the Internet Accounts area in System Preferences.

    Both devices are on Verizons 4G LTE network. Both devices do have some of the same APPS installed. Can this be a case of him connecting to a rogue wifi network of a hacker that may have installed malicious code on his devices when he connected? That would explain why only his devices have the same exact issue only at BWI airport.

    Something similar I've experienced. I was once having to use a AT&T hotspot and the iPad simply refused to access my mail via the mail app. But if I used safari I could get it.  So the internet was working, but my supposition is that something with the hotspot's firewall messes with mail exchange.
    next time your boss is at BWI, do you guys have a web interface? (for example if I wanted to access my work mail I could get them to set it up via the mail app and exchange, or I could go to a certain web address and access my mail that way via safari)
    He could try using safari and the web interface if you have it.
    If it's something in the hotspot's firewall I doubt it's anything that can be changed.
