  • Blue screen with error code and I have no recovery disks for HP Pavilion dv6-1260se

I have a HP Pavilion dv6-1260se with factory installed operating system of Vista. When booting up the computer, I receive a blue screen with this error message: STOP:  c000021a {Fatal System Error}.
The verification of a KnownDLL failed.  system process terminated unexpectedly with

The system has been shut down.
I do not have recovery disks for this computer.  I tried to order them but them seem to not be available.  This is my daughter's computer.  She says she started to have trouble after downloading Frost Wire (music share) and then she removed it.  We tried going back to an earlier time and that didn't help and then the blue screen with error message appeared. What do I do now?

    Hi,
Assuming your in the US, recovery discs are available to order for that model here.  That may be the best option.
You should also be able to do a recovery without the discs as well.  Take a look at this document: Recover Windows Vista Operating System Using HP Recovery, and look for the section Restore the PC to its original condition with the HP Recovery Manager if Windows Vista is not accessible.  This should allow you to recover the PC.

  • Lost all sound on my HP Pavilion dv6 notebook

I have a HP Pavillion dv6 notebook with a Widows 7 operating system and have lost all sound. Any suggestions as this is a 6 month old notebook?

I had the same issue last night after an automatic BIOS update.  I read about 7 pages of posts that seem to deal with the same issue and found a combination of actions that seem to have restored my audio functions completely.  I posted the solution and it resolved the issue for at least one other user who commented back.  It it works for you, please also post that it worked for you.  I suspect there are alot of users out there that have or will be experiencing the same issue.  It would be nice if HP would post the appropriate solution, it seems to have been going on for awhile.
    1. Through 'Device Manager / Sound, video and game controller' I uninstalled my audio driver (IDT High Definition CODEC) and also deleted the driver software for the device.
    2. Through 'Programs and Features' I uninstalled the IDT Audio Software (vers 1.0.6418.0) that was installed with the BIOS update.
    --> This forced a reboot.
--> When my system rebooted it automatically searched and found the appropriate audio driver -- now I've got audio and Media Center works fine...
    Hope this helps you.

  • Sound problems on my Pavilion dv6

Just yesterday my audio stopped working. Seemingly from nothing. I updated some drivers with DriverScanner, but it didn't make problems immediatly (and not after reboot). I tried downloading drivers from the HP website, tried with HP Recover Manager, tried deleting drivers and letting the system download them and tried to recover the system to a point, where I did not install drivers via DriverScanner. With all variations I had 2 possible outcomes: there was audio on the notebook speakers (but not on headphones or external speakers) OR with other driver variations I had to switch off the internal speakers, and I had sound on external (but not all apps had sound, for example: I had sound on the browser, but not on skype or games).
I just hope you can help me, cause it is unbearable to sit in a silent room for so long.
Btw, I have about 17 other drivers out of date (as DriverScanner tells me), but even updating them all did not solve the problem.

    Hello l3w1s,
I understand that your sound is not working correctly.
Since it has not been to long since the problem started, you can run a system restore.
This will take the system back to when everything was working correctly without affecting your personal files.
Here is a link on how to do a restore.
    Windows 7
    Windows 8
Let me know how everything goes.

  • The sound on my HP Pavilion dv6 goes up and down randomly on its own

Whenever I watch a YouTube video or play my iTunes music my sound goes up and down randomly by itself.  It is super annoying.  I just bought this laptop a month ago.  What is going on? Can I fix this or do I need to take it back?

    Hi,
    Try the following.
Download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
    ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp57501-58000/sp57966.exe
When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.
When complete, restart the notebook and let Windows fully load.  Open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, restart the notebook again.
Has this made any difference to the issue?

  • Hp pavilion dv6 3034nr system recovery

I have a 3 year old HP Pavilion DV6 3034nr Entertainment Notebook having Win 7 home premium installed that I wish to restore to factory settings.I made another partion and changed the drive letters of existing partions. I have either lost or never made system recovery discs. Now how can i do that....

    Hi there:
    Follow this useful document:
    http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01867418
If the recovery partition in the laptop HDD has been corrupted or removed, then you may not be able to recover to factory using that. But you can by ordering recovery USB from HP directly & using that.
