I have now lost iTunes
For months now I have been trying to update iTunes. I continually get this msg
There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor.
I am the only user on this laptop. I have reinstalled the windows installer package and done the wholewindows installer cleanup. Now I am worse off. I cannot open itunes at all. It says it is not installed. Please help. I have searched this site for months and not found an answer. Thanks for any help

Which kind of computer. A Mac or Windows? No matter, the answer is to use your backup you make of your computer against this kind of loss.

Enabling iTunes Match does not delete music from your computer. Why do you think it is now not in the iTunes library if it was before? If all of your music was in the iTunes library then it is also now in the cloud if iTunes has completed it's scan and all the music meets the match requirements. Enable the iCloud Status column in the iTunes browser by switching to Song view and pulling down View > View Options. Select iCloud Status then close the small window. Sort on the new column. Your music should be listed as "purchased," "matched" and "uploaded." Some tracks may be "ineligible." Post back and let us know.

Why won't it sync? Are you getting any sort of error message during the sync process? If so what is the exact wording of that error message? If this the computer you normally sync the iPod with?

It sounds to me like after updating the iOS on your phone, you no longer have your numbers documents and photos.
I would next restore from the backup you created that night whether it was with iCloud or iTunes.

how can i view and apply new custom patterns without going to preset manager? i had this facility but have now lost it. i design patterns but am fairly new to photoshop. i used to be able to click on the drop down menu in patterns in the 'fill' box but cannot now do this. have i inadvertently clicked on something to turn this facility off? i now have to go to 'preset manager' and manually move my new design to the first box and click 'done' so that i can use it.
Which version of photoshop are you using?
After you define a custom pattern it should be added to the bottom of whatever patterns are already loaded.
For example, if you define a custom pattern and then go to Edit>Fill>Pattern, the newly defined pattern should have been added to the existing loaded patterns. -
if i go into icloud on my phone then manage storage, i can see i have a 252.6 back up from my old iphone 5 (that i have now lost) i want to use this backup to get all my photos back but when i click on it, it says Latest back up Incomplete????????

a few questions before proceeding.
are you getting an error message? if so, what does it say? include error message numbers if you're getting any.
or are you getting no error messages whatsoever when you try to launch itunes?
if you're getting no error messages whatsoever, do you just see the wee hourglass for a few seconds, and then nothing? if so, do you also have Norton Internet Security 2005 installed on that PC?
or are you seeing a brief "flash" of the itunes license screen (and then nothing)? if so, do you also see similar behavior when you try to launch your QuickTime?

Check the Trash in your home folder. If that hasn;t been emptied they could be there.
If not then you might have luck using a file recovery program but for that to have any chance of success you need to stop using your computer immediately. The more you use it the mote likely that the disk space were the photos still might be will be used by the OS for other purposes and then they will be truly gone.
BTW just to make sure you don;t have any backups right?
There are lot of options for data recovery software. Users have reported success with Disk Drill Media Recovery

I backed up my iphone5 using iCloud before downloading the new ISO software. I have now lost all my pictures and messages as the backup doesn't seem to have worked even though it says last backed up today 17:12. Is there anything I can do?
Backing up doesn't change or delete anything on the phone. I am guessing you restored your phone using iCloud.
If you did not have a backup of it made before you did 'whatever it was you did', then the information is gone. -

It's a pre-installed app and therefore cannot be deleted so you may have inadvertently moved it onto a screen or into a folder, check the utilities folder as this is a common one for it to disappear into. Check all screens and folders and do a search in Spotlight, it will tell you if the app it still on your iPhone but unfortunately not where it is. If you find it on one or your screens or in a folder, press the icon until it wiggles and then drag it back to where you want it. Alternatively you can reset your home screen in Settings>General>Reset>Reset Home Screen Layout. -

If you have more than one tab open, you should still see the "x". When you are down to the last tab, you will need to tap the View Open Tabs icon (upper right, looks like two over lapping squares). You also access Private Browsing from there.
