When I have only one tab open, there is no "x"; so in order to close the webpage I have to open another empty tab, and then close the first. My other computer has the "x" to close the tab visible even when there is only one tab so that I can close the page and have an empty (marked "(untitled)" tab). Please help! -

Do the following:
1. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
2. Reinstall Snow Leopard
If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer. Proceed with reinstalling OS X. Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files. After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.
Download and install the Combo Updater for the version you prefer from support.apple.com/downloads/. -
Did someone have problems with the screen of macbook air?
HI, I have been since august without my macbook air, that i bought on february of this year (2011), because my screen have a scratch since i came back form China in august. My explanation is the differences of temperature between the to countries.
The true is that here in Chile the costumer services of "MacOnline" (the store) is the worst, they had my mac since august and i hadnt even receive an email from them. I've already spoken to the Chief of operation from maconline,, but not even her have given me an answer for my problem. I have my guarantee till next february and i'm afraid that i wont have my mac for another year. Does someone have a tip for this situations?

It sounds like the first thing you need to do is get your machine back from MacOnline. There's absolutely no reason it should take close to five months for any service on the machine. That being said, I don't see Chile listed for contact information here - http://www.apple.com/support/country/
However if you want to make the toll call to Apple (US) and explain the situation and your experience with MacOnline I'd like to believe that they can offer their best assistance towards an alternative. -
I have problem with flash on my MacBook Air 13 2013 with ML 10.8.5
The problem is that every time I want to display website with flash content (like youtube) I have kernel panic. The same situation is on firefox and Safari. On Google Chrome everything is working fine, but it has built in flash. I've tride to reinstall flash, remove it using adobe uninstaller, correct permissions etc. I've event tried to make new account on my computer but always it happens again. Video is trying to start, and I have kernel panic + restart the mashine. It's strange that I don't have this problem on my late 2012 mac mini with the same version of OS, browsers and flash. I'm confused... Can anybody help me with that?

Post relates to: Treo 680 (Unlocked GSM)IIRC, Hotmail is like Yahoo's free email - you have to pay for POP access.
If you aren't paying for a premium version of HotMail, it won't work correctly with VersaMail.

Will there be a fix for Firefox's problems with Hotmail. I have gone back to 3.5.9 but mostly I am disappointed by the lack of action on this serious problem where a major and critical feature of a major international website is unavailable in the Firefox browser.

The question mark means the computer cannot find a bootable volumes so can;t do anything, That, combined with annoying sounds, strongly suggests a failed hard drive.
You can ask a "genius" at an Apple Rtail Store to test it but I'm pretty sure the drive is kaput. I'm hoping you had your data backed up. -
I am using Firefox 12.0. I did not have issue with hotmail, but I am facing problem this week after firefox upgrade. After entering login the page freeze. I am not able to continue.

I reviewed hot mail forum. They suggest firefox upgrade causes this issue.
I tried after clearing my browser's cache and cookies. The situation remain same. Any idea?
What is the workaround?Firefox 3.6 needs the Java Second Generation Plugin which comes with newer versions than 1.6.0_03 - update Java, the latest version is 1.6.0_22

Hi, recently purchased macbook 13", I have problem with sound when connect to my LG Smart tv with sound system. When i change sounds effect on my sound system also LG its all go quiet didn't have this problem with my laptop. Any advise ?
Some progess I see. To be honest, i would not waste your time with trying to connect using wireless.
You are likely to get poor connections and dropping out.
If its working using a cable, then there is no need to bother with giving me the network settings, bu see how it goes, because sometimes giving the TV a static IP address can give better results.
There is an example of a couple of powerline adapters on the diagram below. Just ignore the network switch unless you want to connect other devices which are near to the TV.

I have problems with my macbook pro ... I recently bought "OS X Lion Mountain" but complete installation did not work ... purchases every time when I look biem appstore is still installed ... so now I have OS X version 10.8.3 ...
does it say not installed or does it say "download" in app store purchases?
if it say's download, then it's there for future use if you need to download it again.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.First, open Terminal in your Utilities folder and paste this into the prompt line:
sudo update_dyld_shared_cache
Press RETURN. You will be prompted to enter your admin password which will not be echoed to the screen. Press RETURN again.
Next, boot the computer into Safe Mode.
Next, do the following:
Reinstalling Lion/Mountain Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.

You can do some basic diagnostics, first open Disk Utility and Repair Disk Permissions. If that does not help I woudl think you got a corrupt download of ML and need to re-download from the Mac App Store and reinstall. Hopefully you have been backing up and have a stable backup system.
