When i try to Save or Save As a file I get the following message: Could not save as "Whatever.psd" because this file is locked, you do not have necessary access permissions, or another program is using the file. Use the Get Info command in the Finder to ensure the file is unlocked and you have permission to access the file. If the problem persists, save the document to a different file or duplicate it in the Finder. Any suggestions? Thanks.

It appear that when I try to delete an email on my mac-mini a copy of the message goes to trash and I can delete it, but the original message stays in my regular list of emails. The only thing that worked for me was to boot in safe mode.
Power down. Then press power button and hold 'shift' key until grey screen with progress bar appears... Once booted and logged in just open safari and browse to applestore.
No trouble at all once I did this.
Reminder: create full backup before you upgrade OS

I use a Mac. When I try to open my iPhoto Library in Elements I get the error message "cannot complete request, PE does not recognize this type of file." The import option only allows me import a "frame from Video"?
You can't use iPhoto that way. Poking around in the iphoto library from outside iphoto is just begging for trouble, the fastest way to corrupt your library and lose all your images.
You have two choices with iphoto:
1. Set PSE as your external editor and send the photos from iphoto. Save, never save as, and don't change the name or format and iphoto will remember your last saved edits and the original, although you have to lose the edited version to revert to the original. This doesn't work with raw files.
2. Export the photos from iphoto, use File>Open in PSE and then you can make all the changes to name and format that you want. Then import the saved edited version to iphoto as a new file. -

I'm running Mac OS X Version 10.7.4 on my iMac and am suddenly unable to simply move files to the trash.
Instead, I get the following message: 'Finder wants to make changes. Type your password to allow this.'
When I do enter my password, the file does not enter the Trash but seems to disappear.
I tried to find ways to revert to previous settings that allowed me to move files to the trash, but had trouble doing so.
How can I get my iMac to run normally?

When I completed my iMovie (after hours of work), I can't move it to iDVD or the Media Browser. How did you get the Extract filter into Photoshop CC? You will need to undo that - especially if you copied a whole batch of plug-ins supplied by Adobe with an earlier version.

I bought an iPad 2 about 8 weeks ago, having had iTunes and an iPod touch for about 3 years previously. From the moment I plugged the iPad into the laptop the above message pops up.
Does anyone know how to fix this? Have deleted and reinstalled all iTunes software from the system, tried using a new cable to fix it but nothing seems to sort it. My iTunes no longer recognises my iPod Touch now either!

I am unable to burn CD's with the last 4 songs I've purchased from the iTunes store. I can burn CD's from playlist using previously purchased songs with no problem. With a normal length playlist including 1 of the newly purchased songs, I get the message "songs will not fit on one CD". I can remove all but the new song and 1 other and the CD will burn. I have upgraded to the latest version of iTunes and still have the problem.
I have that EXACT same problem! I have no idea what to do though, but it is very mucho frustrating. Let me know if you find out anything, and I will do the same.

have firefox 3.0.10 on my Mac with OS X .5.6 I can download the latest version of firefox, 7.0.1 dmg. I can open that and get a drive on the desktop. I am the only user and system administrator. How can I not have sufficient privileges? but when I drag the firefox program to the applications folder I always get this message from the firefox program. "you don't have sufficient privileges to open firefox" What is going wrong to prevent me from updating my firefox?
