I have recently purchased a used iPhone 4, when i plugged it into my pc a skull came up instead of the apple icon. My pc does not recognise the iPhone, I have tried everything that I can think of. Has anybody any ideas on how I can fix this?

The phone was originally purchased in March of this year, so it is under 12 months old. Has anybody encountered this problem and or know how I can fix the phone? Thanks

You have apparently purchased a jailbroken phone. You can try to get it into recovery mode, then restore as new, but no guarantee it will work.

First, update iTunes, then connect the phone to the computer and do a restore. This will also get your iOS up to date. Your phone should operate correctly after doing this, if not, you will most likely need to have the phone serviced or replaced.

1. Try doing a hard reset:
Press and hold both the Home button and the Sleep/wake button simultaneously for about 15 seconds and release when the Apple logo appears.
2. If that doesn't solve it, use: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808
Using this article will erase everything on the device, so make sure you have a backup!

Presumably then, you have a tick-in-the-box of the field in your iTunes at Edit/Preferences/General>When you insert a CD:>Get track names from the internet and your iTunes is allowed to get to the internet? It might be your firewall or anti-virus programme stopping access to the internet.
Can you get to the iTunes Store? If not, then that is probably why iTunes cannot get the track names. Do you see iTunes "looking" for Gracenote (where it gets the track names)? A small box "Gracenote logo" appears briefly in the top left corner of iTunes as it goes to Gracenote.
Do you get any error messages at any time?

I'm not sure how you know this, but if true, most likely they have since restored it which would remove the iCloud settings. The iPhone would now be in Activation Lock, though, and hence after restoring be useless to the person who found the iPhone. But as Tim said, contact the airline. It's possible they accessed it in an attempt to determine the owner.

Since updating to 7.1.2 my iphone 5s defaults to the Apple ID login page. This happens even before the pin number has been put in. The phone then obviously then does not recognise the Apple ID. (Because the phone is NOT ON) How do i fix this?

I updated my iPhone 5s to 7.1.2 yesterday, and I now cannot input my PIN number. The screen says i need to input my Apple Id and then my Icloud Password. The phone cannot accept these inputs because I can't switch it on because the PIN number cannot be put in ????????????????????????????/

Also, when I tried to Restore the settings, an Error Message pops up that says " The iPhone software update server could not be contacted. The requested resource was not found.
I'm trying to free up space on my phone by removing [literally] thousands of old photos which were originally synched to the phone, because I had forgotten to uncheck the photos button when I synched it ages ago.
I have also tried synching it on my 24" iMac (running OSX Snow Leopard). But again, when I try restoring the phone through itunes, it says the file is corrupted. It sggests unplugging the device, and then plugging it in again. I have done this numerous times with no success.
I'm guessing it must be because my phone (and versions of iTunes, and OSX) are all too old.
Please can anybody help.

Here is the screen shot, just the top half, there are another 10 pages, but I guess this should enough for you to have an idea of waht is going on, bit small I am afraid. No, I don't have any apps setup to run when I open my computer, the kernel, varies between 290 and 305 per cent ish.
Would that PRAM thing help ? I think it may be the computer itself, well something inside, as this the first time that the fan has ever started running since I have this computer, even when I have 3 or 4 apps running.

Uninstall the other AV software. They are not needed. All they do is cause trouble like you are having now.
If you have been forcing the Mac to shut down with the power switch you may nave corrupted your disk. You should repair it with disk Utilty to remove any corruption the shutdwons may have cased.
