I have recently upgraded my laptop operating system from Vista to Windows 7. i tunes is asking me to sync my i pod, because it is recognising the Vista laptop and not the Windows 7. All my music has gone from i tunes library but it is all stored in Windows music folder(s). How can I move it all to my i tunes library?
So your iTunes library is now empty after the upgrade?
Simply drag the one folder (containing all of your music) into your new empty iTunes library or choose File -> Add to Library in iTunes.
Otherwise, if they aren't all in one folder, you'll have to drag each seperate one into iTunes.

But now I have upgrade to windows 7, I cannot get itunes to recognise my library from my external. At a guess you followed the process in HT1364 - iTunes for Windows: Moving your iTunes Media folder which would have moved the media folder to a new path of your choice. This process leaves the library database files back in the original location of <User's Music>\iTunes. Often people assume that all they need is now on the external drive and wipe the internal drive, or discard their old computer, before backing up the all important iTunes folder. If you have a backup of your user's profile folder from before the upgrade the iTunes library folder should be in there somewhere. Restore it to <User's Music> and your original library should pop back into existence. The external drive would need to have the same drive letter that it had previously.
A more effective way to relocate the library is to move the entire iTunes folder to the external drive, then hold down shift when starting iTunes and keep holding until asked to choose or create a library. You would then choose the file iTunes Library.itl in the iTunes folder on the external drive. If this is the way you moved the library before then that is how you should now reconnect to it. Changing the media folder in preferences doesn't change which .itl database file is opened, nor does double-clicking on an .itl file directly.
If you no longer have the original .itl file then you will have to build a new library and import the media to it. If you need to do this I would recommend you create a new library at F:\iTunes, then move your existing media folders inside F:\iTunes\iTunes Media before importing. This will avoid the creation of duplicates and make sure the library is in the correct shape going forwards.
If you have an iPod or iOS device my scripts ImportDevicePlaylists and SyncStats may well let you recover ratings, play counts & playlists from the device.
When you've fixed up your libray you should consider getting a second external drive to backup to.

I have recently upgraded my iBookG4 from Tiger to Leopard 10.5.8 and find my Bluetooth USB adaptor no longer connects. The Bluetooth pane says inactive. Does Leopard require USB 2.0. I've had the adaptor for some time so may be USB 1.0
Bluetooth icon on menu bar shows bluetooth off. When opening bluetooth preferences it shows the devices I've connected previously,( my mobile phone), and other devices I've attempted to connect but not very successfully: my iPhone and MiniMac. The bluetooth dongle in the USB port shows a continual blue light but does not react and the iBook does not recognise that it is there. There is absolutely no reaction when I try to pair my mobile phone, which I've done successfully before upgrading to Leopard, either by the iBook or the mobile phone.
I assumed that Tiger was not bluetooth compatible with the iPhone or MacMini running SnowLeopard and hoped by upgrading to Leopard I could achieve some file transfers between the three devices (iBook, iPhone and MacMini) -

I have recently upgraded from my iphone 5 to a new phone. My iphone 5 's touch screen does not work anymore. I need to backup my phone, but I can't do it on itunes without my password. Everything besides the screen is completely fine-the screen will not recognize my finger anymore. I am not trying to fix the phone, but I need to have my contacts. The pictures have already synced, but I need my password to do a full backup. Unfortunately, I can't type in my password. Is there any way around it? If I take my phone to the apple store, will they be able to help me? I am not willing to replace the screen just to do this, however, so that is out of the question.
Someone else may have a workaround, but, as far as I know, if you cannot interact with the screen on the iPhone, there is no way to unlock it so you can get to your contacts.
Were you saving them to iCloud by chance? If so, you can restore them to your new phone.

Hi, I have recently upgraded from and Iphone 4 to 5. I completed a back up on my iphone 4 via icloud which went ok. When setting up my new phone I selected to set up as a new phone and not via icloud back up. Is there anyway I can restore my details to my new phone? Thanks Hayley
Welcome to the Apple Community.
Navigate to Settings > General > Software Update and install any updates available.
Navigate to Settings > General > Reset > Erase all contents and settings on the device you want to restore.
When this completes and the Set-Up Assistant starts, choose "Restore from iCloud Backup" and enter your iCloud account and password. You will see the three most recent backups for each of the devices on which you enabled Backup. Choose which backup to restore from. -

I have exactly the same problem. Before the update to 5.0.1 whenever I connected my 3GS to my MacBook Image Capture used to open. Now nothing happens. When I opened Image Capture or iPhoto, either program recognized my device as the iPhone, but no pictures showed up on the screen.
I emailed the photo's from the iPhone to myself and that worked OK.
Have no idea why the computer doesn't recognize the iPhone as a camera anymore.
You haven't had any answers on your question, so no solution yet.

I recently upgraded my laptop to one from the same vendor so all I had to do was to upgrade a few drivers on the hard drive. Unfortunately my copy of ADE is not so cooperative. Every time I try to download an e-book I get the message "E_AUTH_BAD_DEVICE_KEY_OR_PKCS12". Uninstalling ADE (all three versions) along with cleaning the registry does not clear the error. And I cannot de-authorize and reauthorize my new laptop as the de-authorize option is greyed out. Anyone else encounter this issue?

It is still under the warrany (I got the 3 year complete warranty with accidental damage included). I would like to upgrade it to Windows 7, and being a student, I can get the$30 student version from Microsoft. If I do tht, ˆ would have to do a clean install, and that would delete all my thinkvantage software. (productivity center, power management.. backup etc. I really like these features and woulld like to have themafter i install win 7 too..
How can I do this? Do i need to get the OS from micrsoft, and then download all the drivers, Or is it possible to order a version from LEnovo, with all the necessary drivers and software installed?Hi,

i just recently upgraded my itouch from 4.1 to ios 5, and updated to itunes 10.5. but when i synced my music files,ebooks and other apps, all is working except when im trying to sync my video files. it says, canot be synced as cannot be played on this ipod. but those are the same files that i have when i was using the old 4.1 version and its syncing just fine.. the itunes advanced tab "create iphone or ipod version" is not working either so i cant convert it to be xferred and synced. what can i do to have my video files synced?
i had the same problem but i just got a new video converter and made it convert videos to ipod/iphone format and then put them into itunes. i would suggest GOM encoder as the encoder can convert them and then once they're finished converting, put them automatically into your itunes for you. from there you can just sync them to your ipod.
