I have safari ver 5.1.10 can i upgrade to a more current ver of Safari?

i have Safari ver 5.1.10...can i upgrade to a current version?

You posted a new thread, saying that you had an iMac 7.1 with 3GB. That can take Mavericks, although I'd suggest more memory & a thorough check to ensure that any software & external hardware you use will still work.
Unless you've a pressing need, consider using Firefox on the Snow Leopard that you have currently.

    Identifying iPod models
    iPod touch (3rd generation)
iPod touch (3rd generation) features a 3.5-inch (diagonal) widescreen multi-touch display and 32 GB or 64 GB flash drive. You can browse the web with Safari and watch YouTube videos with Wi-Fi. You can also search, preview, and buy songs from the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store on iPod touch.
The iPod touch (3rd generation) can be distinguished from iPod touch (2nd generation) by looking at the back of the device. In the text below the engraving, look for the model number. iPod touch (2nd generation) is model A1288, and iPod touch (3rd generation) is model A1318.

I have macbook pro 10.5.8 can i upgrade to the Os X lion?

apart from what is already known ( upgrade to Sno,purchase Lion or walk into a Apple Store, ask for a USB drive .. ) you should make sure you can run Lion. Not every Intel Mac will run it, and you need 2GB of RAM.
    Double check that requirements before.

To install Mavericks, you need one of these Macs:

  • HT1338 Hey, I'm running 10.6.8 on my intel MacBook Pro 17. Can I upgrade to a more recent OS?

Hey, I'm running 10.6.8 on my intel MacBook Pro 17. Can I upgrade to a more recent OS?

Intel Core 2 Duo is a older machine, your taking a risk with a slow machine and your presently installed PPC based software will no longer work.
    Look before you leap.
    http://roaringapps.com/apps:table
If a firmware update bricks your machine out of AppleCare, then your paying for the fix or a new machine.
IMMO a 3+ year old machine should remain on whatever is stable, take the risk on a newer machine.
10.7 killed my 4 year old 15", was worth $700 at the time. And Apple just basically said "too bad."

    Lion or Mountain Lion?
You should be able to. This is for Mountain Lion. Lion link below.
iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) model number 7,1 or higher
MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) model number 5,1 or higher
MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) model number 3,1 or higher
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) model number 2,1 or higher
Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) model number 3,1 or higher
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) model number 3,1 or higher
Xserve (Early 2009) model number 3,1 or higher
    Your Mac needs:
OS X v10.6.8 or OS X Lion already installed
2 GB or more of memory (More is better)
8 GB or more of available space
Check to make sure your applications are compatible. PowerPC applications are no longer supported.
    Application Compatibility
You can also check by going to the  menu, select About this Mac, click on More info…, then click System Report and select Software/Applications.
If you have applications that you want to use that aren’t compatible, you can retain Snow Leopard and create a new partition to install Mountain Lion on or you can run Snow Leopard  server in a virtual mode.
If your computer isn't compatible, you might be able to upgrade to Lion.
    Computer Compatibility - Lion
If you can/do upgrade, I recommend you make a copy of the installer and move it out of your Applications folder. The installer self-destructs. The copy will keep you from having to download the installer again.  You can make a bootable DVD/USB stick to install using this free program.

I have a model FB292LL Ipad. Can it be upgraded to OS 5?

See iOS: How to update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4623
If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect to your computer & click on the "Update your device using iTunes".
Tip - Disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily.  Then download and install the iOS update. After you update to iOS 5.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).

  • I have a Mac mini 3.1, can I upgrade to mountain lion ?

hi, can I upgrade my Mac mini 3.1 to run OSS mountain lion ?

Yes, you can upgrade to Mountain Lion.
Upgrading from Snow Leopard to Lion or Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99.
If you sign into the App Store and try to purchase Mountain Lion but the App Store says your computer is not compatible then you may still be able to upgrade to Lion per the following information.
    A. Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion - System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.

I have OS X 10.5.8. Can I upgrade to Lion?

Need to know what model Mac you have?
If you have an older Mac with a PowerPC processor, you are at the max OS.
If you have a newer Mac with an Intel processor, maybe you can install Lion.
    Lion 10.7 System Requirements
        •    Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor (most models released since late 2006 - early Intel-based Macs with Core Solo or Core Duo processors aren't compatible)
        •    2GB of memory (recommend at least 4GB -- and ideally even more, as you'll see benefits in many computing tasks)
        •    OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended) for Lion download from Apple App Store; or Leopard 10.5.x if using Lion on USB drive
        •    7GB of available space (10GB recommended)

  • I can't uninstall Firefox version 11 from my MAC, nor can I upgrade to a more recent version of Firefox.

I believe that I have a corrupted version of Firefox. I have followed the procedures both for removal and for upgrade that are posted in the support forums, and neither are effective for me.
I do not have a conventional Firefox icon on my screen, rather I have a grey question mark. When I attempt to deposit that question mark icon in my wastebasket, it just bounces back out.
When I have tried to upgrade to a more recent version of Firefox (and I've been trying to upgrade with each new iteration of Firefox from version 12 to the current version 32), I receive an error message that I can run only one version of Firefox, and the upgraded version is rejected in favor of version 11.
Additionally, Firefox version 11 blocks me from adding any other programs onto my Mac. I want to get rid of version 11. How can I do it?

Dear ideato--Thank you for your suggestion. While I was able to drag a shadow of the Firefox icon from the applications folder to the dock and drop it into the wastebasket, the icon remains in the applications folder and Firefox version 11 is still on my computer blocking every attempt to add a program or to upgrade to the current version of Firefox. The question mark is still on the dock, too. Regards--DavidK126

  • I have a mac book from 2010, can i upgrade to safari 6?

I am having trouble upgrading to safari 6. When I go to app store to upgrade i am confused, because I feel I need to add some other program before I can upgrade.  Do I need to download Mountain Lion to get to Safari 6?

You can download 10.7 (Lion) or 10.8 (Mountain Lion) from theApp store. A 2010 Macbook with at least 2gB RAM meets the requirements. Either will cost $20.
With that upgrade you will also automatically get a Safari update.
