Only way to get it back is to restore your phone from a backup, if those pics were included in that backup.
But most likely those pics are gone.
What you should've done was import http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083 the pics to your computer and after you restored from your old backup, you could sync those new pics to your phone via itunes.

Are your contacts still on your computer? If yes, set one contact up on the phone and sync it, you'll get the option to merge data.
If there are no more contacts on the computer, see if your latest backup still has the info, if you did not sync after you lose the info, they are still part of the backup.

The voicemail system used for the iPhone is different from the voicemail system used on the rest of the Verizon Wireless network. When you activate the iPhone, you lose your saved voicemails from the other system. When you activate a non-iphone, you lose any saved voicemails from the iPhone voicemail system too.

It sounds as this issue:
Open System Preferences and go to Accessibility. Next, select Display from the source list along the left, then check the box labelled Reduce transparency.

Your contacts are helpd on the server, so if you sign out from your iCloud account and sign into another one they will disappear. If you sign back into the original account they will reappear.

iPhoto Menu -> Preferences -> Accounts ->
Delete and recreate your email settings.
Alternatively, use Apple's Mail for the job. It has Templates too - and more of them.

I can't get onto the internet via wi-fi either (don't have a 3G card fitted). All other functions seem to be working OK including charging. Not had this problem before, but I recently upgraded software to 5.1.1 so is there a bug in there somewhere?

Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

Thanks for the question. I understand that you are experiencing some issues with Mail after updating to OS X Yosemite. To troubleshoot, let’s first try to rebuild your mailbox. You can follow the same steps from previous versions:
Mail (Mavericks): Rebuild mailboxes

Select a mailbox, then choose Mailbox > Rebuild.
When you rebuild mailboxes for IMAP and Exchange accounts, locally stored messages and attachments are discarded, and the messages and attachments are downloaded again from the server to your Mac. Your mailbox appears empty until the download is complete.
You can also try deleting the affected account and re-adding it. in Mail > Accounts.

Well I could do that but that kinda defeats the purpose of paying $600 bucks for this piece of **** that I'm supposed to be able to dump 32 gigs (well u know what I mean) of music on and manage automatically the through this supposedly wonderful piece of software that's supposed to do most of that for you. Whether you can re-download your past music purchases will depend upon what country that you are in. On the iTunes store home page on your computer there should be a Puchased option under Quick Links on the right-hand side of it - go into that and see if music is an option for re-downloading
