Sorry you're having trouble, alan4555, but most of the video experts hang out in the Premiere Elements forum, which is here:

and you'll probably get better help there. Good luck!

I want to triple boot my Mac Pro I have Snow Leopard and XP on separate drives (osx on drive 1, xp on drive 2) and I want Windows 7 on another drive (drive 4, drive 3 is used by osx for storage), can it be done by temporarily removing the xp drive and installing windows 7 on drive 4?
I realise bootcamp only allows 2 operating systems and refit could change the size of my current xp drive to accomodate W7, that is not an option here for various reasons one being the drive is pretty much at capacity with only about 30gig free (I work with video so that free space fluctautes quite a bit). I have a brand new drive 4 with 1TB set aside ready for W7 but I'm unsure how to go ahead?
any help or advice would be really appreciated, thanksBoot Camp is used to support Windows on the same drive.
You can have a different OS on every drive.
You could have Windows 7, Vista, and XP all on one drive if you so choose.
I recommend not putting Windows and OS X on the same dirve when talking about Mac Pro - unless you just need something small and lite.
Remove all your other drives while you install Windows 7.
You could even relocate XP - if you need it even - or recover the hard drive space.
You should always keep 30% free for Mac OS; same for data/media drives.
Considering 1.5TB WD Black $110.... and you want OS X to be on a fast high performance drive as well. -
I have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 installed. For me to use XCode 4.5, I must have 10.7 or later. What is the best way to go ahead? Should I install OS X Lion and then move to Mountain Lion, or can I straight away install latest Mountain Lion, i.e. 10.8.2
You can directly install Mountain Lion 10.8.0 to 10.6.8, and then apply the 10.8.2 Update.
Hope this helps -
My Mac Book Pro will be 4 years old in Sept. I now have Snow Leopard and bought an IPhone 4S this week. I know I need Lion to use ICloud. Can I upgrade to Lion with a computer this old?
As long as it meets the minimum requirements:
Lion System Requirements
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
At least 2GB of memory
OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
7GB of available space on hard drive
Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply. -
Just installed snow leopard and can't open any of my word docs?
Just installed snow leopard and can't open any of my word docs?
Depends on what you're doing; SL doesn't really support Office docs directly. In Snow Leopard, TextEdit can open Word docs, albeit with little fidelity for anything beyond text. Try iWork if you need to really work with Word docs (note that even then it's an import/export process and not native support).

hello, I want to know if will lose my apps if I upgrade to Mavericks? I I have Snow Leopard, and I have not because I have fear of losing my apps
You will only lose Power PC apps.
To see if you have any Power PC programs go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info. When System Profiler comes up select Applications under Software. Then look under Kind to see if any of your applications are listed as Power PC. Universal and Intel will run under Mavericks.
Before Mac switched to Intel processors in 2006 they used Power PC processors from 1994 to 2005. Power PC 601 through 604, G3, G4 and G5. Applications written for the Power PC processors need the application called Rosetta to run on Intel processors. This was part of the Operating System in 10.4 and 10.5 but was an optional install in 10.6. With 10.7 Lion Apple dropped all support for Power PC applications. -
HT201364 I currently have Snow Leopard and want to update to Mavericks
I currently have Snow Leopard and want to update to Mavericks. When I go to the Apple Store the only available option is to download Yosemite but I don't want to.
Where can I find a download link for Mavericks?Probably nowhere, and unless Apple says otherwise, definitely nowhere.

How can we demand to get iCloud available for Snow Leopard? It's ridiculous how Windows users can use iCloud, but not Snow Leopard users. We're not all made of money and we all don't want to upgrade to Lion!

I currently have Snow Leopard and am thinking of upgrading to Lion but have heard some bad things about it. Should I upgrade or not? What do you like/dislike about Lion?
It is indeed all down to what you need to do with your machine. Snow leopard is an excellent OS and as Baltwo suggests you have to check out your current apps and programs because PPC won't work on any higher OS than the one you have.
Andy's comment is very interesting and, I suspect, insider knowledge based Certainly I would wait for Mavericks now it is on the horizon ... and then add six months or so for the bugs to be ironed out.
Good luck, whatever you do. I'm staying with Snow Leopard. -
I have Snow Leopard OSx on my MacBookPro. I would like to upgrade to Mt.Lion. OSx but am only allowed 3 gigs/mo download of data from my internet provider. I've attempted to purchase a CD from Apple store but they said it's only available through on-line downloads. How can I upgrade?

"OSX Mavericks cannot be installed on this computer" is the message that I receive when trying to download Maveracks. I have a late 2007 iMac with Snow Leopard 10.6.8 installed, 167gb free space and 3 gb memory. What are reasons that it won't download?
Does your computer meet the requirements listed below?
To install Mavericks, you need one of these Macs:
iMac (Mid-2007 or later)
MacBook (13-inch Aluminum, Late 2008), (13-inch, Early 2009 or later)
MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid-2009 or later),
MacBook Pro (15-inch or 17-inch, Mid/Late 2007 or later)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or later)
Mac mini (Early 2009 or later)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or later)

Am currently using Snow Leopard and do not have access to I Cloud or latest version of I Photo. Understand I can download Maverick free but am worried about losing data. How to download Maverick and safeguard present files?
Mac OS X upgrades are designed so that none of your existing Applications or User data are intentionally deleted during a System Upgrade.
That works as long as there are no problems whatsoever.
Your best protection from data loss is good Backups. Before you upgrade, buy an External Drive at least 2 to 3 times the size of your User Data, and Turn on Time Machine. USB-2 enclosure drives are cheap, and fast enough for backups. If you will use this drive for everyday data, a faster interface would be much better.
Time Machine works quietly in the background, and does not "take over" your Mac to do the Backups. After the first large backup, it will quietly back up hourly, copying only the things that have changed since the last Backup. Time Machine is not the only Backup solution, or even the best solution out there. But it tends to be the Backup that actually happens, because you don't have to download any software, do extensive setup, or think about whether you should do it now or later. -
I want to upgrade from OSX 10.4.11 to snow leopard and the local store say to do it online and I can't find out how to.
You will need to purchase the retail DVD for Snow Leopard (10.6) It should be available from the online Apple store.

I have Snow Leopard and my Dad has Lion, why can my computer read things that his can't?
My Dad just got a new Mac Book Pro that has Lion installed, I have the same computer but it's one year older and has Snow Leopard. He is moving all of his stuff to his new computer and burned a DVD with pictures on from his old Toshiba. My computer can read the DVD just fine and I can take the pictures and put it on my computer, but when the DVD is instered into his computer it says the disk is blank. The pictures are saved on the old computer in JPEG form. Is there any way we can get his computer to read the disk/why isn't his computer reading the disk? Or do we just have to move the pictures a different way?
Perhaps you have some additional software to read whatever that Toshiba is writing. Regardless, it would probably be easier and faster to use a USB flash disk or share files from one of the machines to the other.

I have an old system Tiger 10.4 on a 2005 Power Book G4 and wonder if I can upgrade to Leopard or can skip to Snow Leopard.
A 2005 PowerBook has enough horsepower ro run OS 10.5 Leopard If you have enought RAM. However, no pre-Intel Mac can use any higher Mac OS. 10.6 and higher MUST have an Intel processor, a feature not incorporated in Mac notebooks until 2006.
