Contacts (if you've been using your phone as recommended) are on your computer (outlook, address book) or in a cloud service (Google, mobileMe). Just synch them back.

You probably have "iCloud...." on. Uncheck it.
If the contacts are "gone" and they still are in your Addressbook on the Mac:
connect the 3G with the USB cable,
click on the iPhone icon in iTunes,
on the "Info" page "Advanced" part (scroll down) check "contacts" under "replace this information on my iPhone" and the click the "Apply" button at the bottom of the page: it will just this one time overwrite the contacts database on the iPhone with the Address book on your mac.... -
So I have an iphone and for some reason I don't know the password for my Apple ID so I can't download apps and I don't have the password to my email to change it and I don't know the secret questions , what can I do to make a new Apple ID ?
I have the same problem - it is maddening. I rely on this iPad for work so this is not just an annoyance! The above solutions of changing the appleid on the device or on the website do not work.
The old email address no longer exists - I haven't used it in a year probably and I no longer have the account. I logged into the appleid website and there is no trace of the old email address so there is nothing that can be deleted or changed there. On the iPad there is no trace of the old email address so nothing can be deleted there either. I have updated the iPad software and the same problem comes right back. Every 2 seconds I am asked to log in using the old non-existent email. The device is currently useless.
The only recent change to anything was the addition of an Apple TV device, which was set up using the correct login and password.
Does anyone have any ideas? The iPad has been backed up to the iCloud so presumably it now won't recognize the current iCloud account? So restoring may notbe an option? -
I backed up everything to icloud, wiped my phone, synced to that backup, and only some of my photos are there. How do I get those photos back?
I went to apple store and they walked me through this except for the syncing part. I went to sync everything at home and a lot of my photos aren't there. When I scroll all the way down, its just a loading spiral thing.
Also, now I have new stuff, that I don't want to get deleted.
Is there some way to put my icloud pictures on my computer as well?If the restore process is done, or seems to have stalled, and it didnt' restore your camera roll photos, all you can do is try restoring the backup again. If it's still restoring, go to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup and tap Stop Restoring at the bottom. Then go to Settings>General>Reset, tap Erase All Content and Settings, go through the setup screens again and when given the option, choose Restore from iCloud backup and follow the prompts.
Be sure your phone is connected to wifi and your charger while it is restoring the backup. You might want to move it closer to your wifi router for the strongest signal possible. -

I have Windows 7 and for some reason I cannot install Adobe Type Manager onto my Computer. I need ATM to install the DIN font but am having no luck what so ever. I can see the DIN font in my Dropbox but it is showing up like this:- ._DIN-bold, no file file extension. what am I doing wrong? is it Mac?
(1) Adobe Type Manager (ATM) is not compatible with any version of Windows beyond Windows XP (32-bit, only). Attempting to install ATM on any newer version of Windows may actually disable Window's capability of rendering Type 1 and OpenType CFF fonts, requiring a reinstallation of Windows.
(2) There is no need to use ATM to install any fonts under Windows.
(3) The file name ._DIN-bold is indicative of a MacOS font. These fonts cannot be installed on Windows systems.

I just noticed that I can no longer select photos out of my finder that are located in my Aperture/Iphoto Library. I used to be able to attach photos to my gmail out of the aperture library in the finder and for some reason, no longer can.
I can't access these images except to go into the applications.
Also, I'd like to import my iphoto library into aperture, and move aperture library to an external drive. I tried the import first, but there wasn't enough space. Then I tried copying over the aperture library onto the external drive but it failed bc it said file was in use.
As it is, I only have 50gb left on my imac, and the aperture library is 150gb. Also, I have over 10k images in both libraries combined and there are tons of duplicates that need to be sorted, and hopefully not messed up because I've organized most of them.
So in short, I need to know how to do the following:
-select photos in finder in aperture/iphoto libraries
-move aperture library to live on external drive
-import iphoto library into aperture library
-eliminate dups but maintain organization
-moving forward i need a better workflow so that I import images from camera, and can organize right away into albums rather than creating projects by default and then creating albums so essentially the photos are in 2 different places, even tho they are referenced
-live happily ever after
Thanks in advance for any support you can offer!!If you're using apps like iPhoto or Aperture then they replace the Finder for managing your photos. The point is that you use the (many) options available via these apps for the things you want and need to do with the Photos.
So, simply, you don't select the photos in the Finder. I'll append the supported ways to do this - which are faster and will yield the current version of your Photos - to the end of this post.

Make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
1. Quit Aperture
2. Copy the Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching Aperture. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.
Referenced - relocate your Masters first.
These issues are covered in the Manual and on this forum hundreds of times.

You can't. Every photo is in a Project. They’re the basic building blocks of the Library.
You might want to spend a little time with the manual or the video tutorials. I'm not sure you've grasped the app you've purchased.
The following is written for iPhoto, but about 97% works for Aperture too.
There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto/ APerture: You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Command-Click for selecting multiple pics. This is what you use to attach your shot to your GMail
(Note the above illustration is not a Finder Window. It's the dialogue you get when you go File -> Open)
You can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
There's a similar option in Outlook and many, many other apps. If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto/ Aperture.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
If you want to access the files with iPhoto/ Aperture not running:
For users of 10.6 and later: You can download a free Services component from MacOSXAutomation which will give you access to the Library from your Services Menu.
Using the Services Preference Pane you can even create a keyboard shortcut for it.

Alright, I've had this problem for a while now, and I'm at my wit's end. Hope someone can help me.
First of all, I'm running Windows 8.0 on a Lenovo, using iTunes 11.1.5, and an iPhone on iOS 7.0.6.
Problem is, when I plug my iPhone 5 into my computer, the computer recognizes the iPhone, but for some reason, iTunes doesn't realize it's there. On top of that, every time I plug in, my phone gives me the same "Trust this computer?" prompt, like it doesnt recognize the computer I told it to trust 5 seconds ago. A couple times, I got lucky and iTunes dignified me with a "An iPhone has been detected, but could not be identified properly." prompt. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the mobile device driver, updating everything, uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes, resetting my iphone settings, but nothing works. I'll guess that you've opened a page layout template which does not have a text layer, therefore no cursor. You'll need to add text boxes or shapes to type in. If you just want to write a letter or similar, close the current document & then choose a blank document from the word processing section of the template chooser.

Once you log in to that account change the email address to anything, it can even be fake its just a placeholder
After you do that you will be free to change your old email address on your appleID to the new one that is now free to be used as it is no longer attached to the other account. -
I have Firefox 6.0 running under Windows XL. When I forward an email with a URL in it, my recipients tell me the URL is not highlighted and they have to cut and paste it into their browser. Why? How can I get my forwarded URLs to be highlighted?
If you think getting your web pages to appear OK in all the major browsers is tricky then dealing with email clients is way worse. There are so many of them.

Connect the old phone to your computer, right click on it in iTunes, and choose Transfer Purchases. That should put all of your music in iTunes except any tracks that were not purchased from iTunes. Make sure that your Apple ID is your email address and you do not have any other or old IDs associated with you. Go to www.appleid.apple.com and confirm this info. Make sure that the email address you are trying to sign up with is your primary one.
