I have the same problem as a lot of others. Downloaded version 10.5 of iTunes and can't acess the iTunes store. Done all the things suggested by both Apple support and the website but no result. There is something seriously amiss.

same problem as all you others. Downloaded iTunes 10.5 twice and still not able to acess the iTunes store. Done everything suggested on the website and by the e mail from Apple (which just refs to the website!) Nothing wrong with the rest of my web acess. What is going on!

However, I can no longer access the iTunes store as the PC just sits there in limbo.
In the course of your troubleshooting to date, have you worked through the following document?

    If your external drive does not have an independent power supply, you may wish to consider a couple of lower-cost options before tossing the drive. Bus-powered drives have no external power source and must get all their power from the computer. They can exceed the computer's USB energy budget.
    Cheapest option:
    1 Meter USB 2.0 A to 5 Pin Mini B Cable - Auxiliary USB "Y" Power Design for external hard drives.
    This gets power from two of the computers USB porst sna can provide enough power to wake up an under-performaing bus-powered drive.
    If you don't have enough ports to use this, try the next cheapest option:
    Newer Technology 7 Port Hi-Speed USB 2.0 Hub with Power Adapter for Mac & PC
    Such a hub has a an independent power supply to make up for wahat the comptuer fails to provide.

There is a large number by 'trash' (I think all mail went to trash - including drafts). When I send myself an emai, it goes to trash also. This is on both my iMac (the one taken in) and my MacBook Pro (same emails) which was not taken in.
    I went to 'rules' but have no idea what to do there. There are no rules in the rule box. When I click 'add rule' it puts 'rule 1' in the rule box, but since that was not there when I took it in, I delete it to have an empty rule box.
    Can someone pleasehelp me. I am completely stupid with all this. Do not under stand what is suppose to be set up in 'rules.'

    Now new mail is coming to both computer's inboxes but there is no number on the stamp icon on dock to show number of emails on the iMac. Nor is there a number by either email address under MAILBOXES/inbox (sidebar) on the iMac. This number is showing on MacBook Pro.
    I also can save drafts now on both computers.
    Seems the Pro is fixed and the iMac is only missing the numbers on dock icon and by addresses in inbox.
    Now that the problem is less, I feel i am wasting your time but will continue so maybe I can get those numbers back.
    Two emails > AT&T email and gmail.
    Apple's Mail program for email - yes, and gmail.
    IMAP for both accounts.
    Did not change mail configuration on MacBook.
    The iMac and MacBook Pro have the same mail configuration except in Accounts/mailbox behaviours/store draft messages on the server was not marked on MacBook > it is now.
    'Store junk messages on the server' was marked on one computer for gmail, but is unmarked on both now.
    On the iMac, Accounts/Accounts info/Outgoing mail for gmail is smtpgmail.
    On the MacBook Pro for gmail it is smpt.gmail.com (plus) my email address.
    Rules/Add rule window, on the MacBook third line is 'Any Recipient', on the iMac third line is 'From."
    The last box on that line has my email address on the MacBook.
    The last box on that line has the last address I sent an emil to (last night), on the iMac.
    On the last line on iMac, no box was selicted for 'to mailbox' > I choose 'inbox' because it is on the MacBook Pro.
    Now I have a Rule #1 and am not sure I should have because there was no rules marked when I took the computer in.
    Thank you. I relized I had done the labeling wrong when so much of my question appeared twice and no one else's did. I know how to do it now.

  • Having the same problem as a lot of BT customers a...

    I had a stable BB of about 7Meg for a few years and 2Meg then 512 with BT for about 4-5 years now with no real problems, Until my upgrade to 13Meg which lasted a week, I then noticed a drop to 2Meg with my old HomeHub after ringing BT the man said my profile was set wrong at 2Meg and he would reset it within 24 Hours and it was done in 8Hours which lasted about a week until you guessed it it went back to a 2Meg profile and the line rate stayed at about 13Meg.
    So I rang BT again but this time I got BT India which went through the usual check filter etc............ which are new and the socket is 5 months old fitted by a BT engineer now I said the IP profile is wrong but the selective hearing was turned on and after a few more calls back and other stuff an engineer was booked who came a few days later and agreed with me after running some test the line is fine and running at 13Meg that it's the profile and he gets it all the time (what a waste of his time and BT's money)
    So I ring BT India up again but cant speak to the same person again because of the ridiculous way the run the call centre is run as if you ring them back there is no way you can speak to the same person again, So this time She says the speed is OK there end of 7Meg (my old speed) which is quite good (not in my opinion after a upgarde to 13Meg NO!) but I say it's still 2Meg my end so she says the HomHub could be a problem and orders me one for 3 days later on a Thursday, So I wait in all day and get a call as arranged at 3.30pm saying there was a problem in the ordering and she would order it for the following Monday (shame she did not ring first thing to save me waiting in all day..........
    Monday comes the HomeHub comes first thing I set it up OK and the speeds are the same Down but the Up is better which I'm not interested in so I wait for the call back which did not come so I called back and as I said before now I have to speak to someone new who puts me through to another department and says they will get in touch within 48Hours and low and behold nothing, Although I did get a call back from the Lady who delt with me before to tell me that as I rang back and someone else took over she can now not help me WTF .....
    Well BT are still taking my money on time shame it does not work both ways Unlimited BB I think not, I have a wife using her laptop to do her Uni work and 2 Teenagers using Youtube etc. and me so 2Meg is just not good enough.
    Who know what is happening now but after being with BT for years now I think it's time they sorted themselves out.

    the profile problem in your link is not the same as this case.  In your link the person had a stable connection but the profile was stuck at 135 and needed mod assistance to get it back into action.  whereas in this case the person has just been upgraded to 21CN and does not appear to have a stable connection and the consequence is a problem with the profile.  Stablise the connection and the profile will reset on it's own.
    I agree that there are times when the only solution is mod assisatance but you need a stable connection first otherwise you will just end up back with a low profile until you solve the underlying problem

  • When I try to access an active link from a website (usually a pdf file), the new tab opens and is labeled correctly; the word "done" appears at the bottom; but the page does not open or download. The same problem does not occur with Chrome.

    Example: on the home page of the website http://www.dot.ri.gov
    there is an active link entitled "Overview of all Iway changes - Fall 2010"
    Clicking on it exposes the following url:
    http://www.dot.ri.gov/documents/iway/Iway_Changes_Fall2010.pdf
    However, the tab remains blank, even though it says "Done" in the bottom left corner.
    When I use Google Chrome as a browser, I have no problem opening that url.
    This has occurred numerous times over the past several days on several different sites--and usually the link that will not open is a pdf file.

    I have iPhone 3G. It shows on screen, connect iTunes all the times. I read all the solutions on internet. I tried everything to fix the problem even Restore Mode or DFU Mode, but iPhone never detected by iTunes or computer. I tired both Mac or Windows Computers, but still nothing. Any ideas??? This forum is my last chance. I gonna break this phone if still nothing and buy a different brand. I don't wanna pay $268.00 to Apple, change with the refurbished one.     The iPhone can only sync on one computer. Is this a new phone or an old phone? If it's a phone you already had, did you change computers? If the phone you had was already synced on another computer then it may have to be deauthorized on that other computer, but I'm not sure. I had an older original iPhone that we replaced and then I wanted to use it as a iPod. I forgot that I had synced it with an older computer. When I connected it to mine my iTunes would recognize it, but wouldn't let me sync to it because it was synced to another computer. So I had to connect it to the older computer, deauthorize it and then it synced fine on my new computer. Not sure if that is a similar issue to yours or not. You need to give us more information. Like were you able to sync it before and this is something new etc. More info that you give the easier it will be for someone to answer you.

    When Firefox crashes, it usually records information about what was happening at that moment and displays the Mozilla Crash Reporter. Are you seeing that, or is Firefox just freezing and you're killing it?
    Assuming you have crashes, you can submit that data to Mozilla and share it with forum volunteers to see whether it points to the solution. Please check the support article "[[Firefox Crashes]]" (especially the last section) for steps to get those crash report IDs, and then post some of the recent ones here.
    If that's not possible, have you tried Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]].
    You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:
    * "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
    * Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
    Not all add-ons are disabled: Flash and other plugins still run
    After Firefox shuts down, a small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (''not'' Reset).

    I had the same problem with the LCD after replacing hinges and could not figure this out. 
    To solve the issue, I bought another A1237 of eBay that apparently had no HD/SSD, but it arrived with a swollen battery.  I removed the bad battery and replaced and moved SSD over and "Voila"...it amazingly light up...........

    Sometimes there are problems.
    Somethings to try but probably won't help....
    1. Repair Disk Permissions
    2. Startup in Safe mode by holding down the "Shift" key....
    3. Reset the P Ram by holding down the "Command/Option/P/R" keys at the same time...
    The above are standard items to do on any Mac from time to time.
    I repair permissions at least once a month....
    The other 2 periodically as they do straighten things out when they get out of whack....

    You might get more replies to this (but not from Apple, who you will recall, do not monitor these discussions) if you had posted in the Podcasts for iOS discussions, but never mind. At least in this post you've mentioned that your problem is with the Podcast App, something you didn't mention in your previous post. Consequently, my comments were based on "problems downloading Podcasts", not "problems with the new Podcast App".
    (I don't use the new Podcast App, since I cannot install iOS 5 on my Touch. So I stick with the older method of listening to Podcasts on my iPod.) That said however...
    It cannot have escaped Apple's attention that the new Podcast App has not been well received. Although these discussions tend to focus on what's wrong rather than what's right, it does appear that the App hasn't been well thought out.
    In particular, the Auto Play feature, which - once an episode has finished playing, the "next most recent unplayed episode" will begin. Now, maybe I'm wrong but to me that means that it plays the Podcasts in reverse date order, so episode 19 will play after episode 20 and episode 18 after ep.19! That is how the iPod Classic plays Podcasts by default and the Classic forum is littered with posts from people who think this is barmy. (I think it's barmy too!)
    I use an iPod Touch as well. Although not perfect, playing Podcasts on the Touch is far easier than on a Classic.
    You are unlikely to find any "solutions" to the issues with the Podcast App, because the "solution" is for Apple to redesign it.
    If you are assuming that the update of 25th july is a claim that it's fixed... oh dear! I notice that the App views, shown in the Store, still include that "tortoise and hare" screen with what appears to be the transport mechanism for a reel-to-reel tape deck. That alone tells me there is no real improvement to the App. It really is the worst graphic Apple have ever produced! I'll be surprised if anyone under 35 recognises that graphic as a reel-to-reel tape deck.
    Actually, I have a question for you.
    If you have the Podcast App installed on your Touch, does that mean that the previous method of listening to Podcasts has been removed from your iPod, or can you still access them in the Music App? If you can, abandon the Podcast App and use the old method. If not, please warn me in order that I don't purchase a new iPod Touch until Apple fix this!
