Anyways I tried the suggested solution and again reaching the review prompt and opting create new Apple ID doesn't take me to the option none on a card information or any billing account I am not meaning to sign in for. I'm just meaning to download free apps which I have done so many times now, I mean 3x. But still, the first time I had so much downloaded and I didn't have this problem. Please could someone help me? Or will I need to reset my content and settings again? This would be my 4 or 5th time to need to do so. If so, is it better I get my iPad with retina display replaced?   • No credit card--can't download free apps.

    I printed out the instructions listed in the link (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2534) because I am having the same problem not being able to download free apps. When I get to the step to select "none" for credit card, this selection is not there and won't let me go past without a cc. My daughter had here ipod first and she did not have put any cc info in and has no problems. How can I get past this?

    Are you sure you're starting the account creation by clicking on the "get" button for a free application? I signed out of my account in the iTunes store, went to the App store and chose a free app. In the resulting sign-in prompt I clicked on create account and filled in the information, using an email address I've never before used with iTunes. When I got to the "provide a payment" screen I was able to choose None. Note that this won't necessarily work if you don't start the process by going to a free app and clicking Get.
    If you're still having trouble, try making sure that your computer is running at least iTunes 8.0.2. Click your Help menu and choose About iTunes; the exact version you are running is in the very first line that scrolls up.

    I've never had an apple product before so im new to this, but i now have an iPhone 3GS on IOS 4.1. I can't update the iPhone as i have it unlocked and it will remove the patch. I know that to download apps you need to put in card details, but i dont own a credit card. Apparently, it's supposed to give me an option not to select any card, which would allow me to download free apps but that option isnt there. I can't download any apps, not even free ones.

    Why has this issue not yet been addressed by Apple? How is it even sensible that people must provide credit card information just to download FREE apps in the App Store? The App Store was launched months ago! This is very unusual of Apple and their policy of making things simple for customers.

    Go to Settings, Store, Apple ID, Sign out and then sign back in again and have another go.
    Also, try a Reset [Hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons down together for 10 seconds or so (until the Apple logo appears) and then release. The screen will go blank and then power ON again in the normal way.] It is app and data safe!

    Else the only option you have is to fight with the Apple Store "geniuses" to get a free replacement for out of warranty 4S devices. Or try a third party repair like iFixit. The wifi chip might cost you 60-80$ but it is better than paying Apple 200$.
    Overheating is the culprit in 4S devices. And its been getting worse with ever successive iOS 7 update. I think 7.0.4 was the final nail in the coffin.
    They are not getting my money anymore.. I've had iPhones every since they launched... but no more. Feels like a dead investment after facing this issue. I can never sell my iPhone 4S even if I want to. There have been cases where users just sold their 4S devices, the new owner updated to 7.0.4, wifi stopped working and the seller had to give a refund.
    I'm basically sitting on a 650$ white brick. Hmm... I wonder if white bricks sell higher than the standard red bricks

    TBH, I can't get a replacement because I am in India where 4S was never launched as an unlocked device and there are no Apple retail stores. Only resellers here like Vodafone/Reliance/Airtel.     - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
    How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
