What is the Word file? From a PC?
What version of Word and what is the file extension?
What is it about the text that is different?
When you say fond do you mean font/typeface? If so what font, and is it on your Mac? Is there something special/different about this font?

I can open Windows Live with Ff4 and can 'see' emails but cannot open them. It was fine with Ff3. Is there a plug-in?

If I right click on the messenger icon on the toll bar it opens windows live in firefox by default. Then the page just hangs. I can see the emails but cannot open them. It works ok if I load in internet explorer browser.

That format is used primarily to record TV shows, which you are generally not allowed to edit. So it's unlikely you'll find a plug-in or converter.
Recapture using Premiere Pro or HDVSplit. Those files will work.

Assuming you have the current kindle app....
Close the app fully. Double tap the home button to see the task bar, then touch and hold any of those icons until they jiggle, then close them by touching the minus sign. Then reboot. Press and hold the home and sleep button until the apple logo appears. Ignore the red slider. Then try again.
If that does not do it...
Log onto amazon through safari, and check your account. Happened to me, and the cause was that the credit card on file with them had expired.

I uploades photos from my camera but cannot locate them

I uploaded photos to iphoto from my camera but I cannot locate them. thought it might be a bad cord so i used a good cord with another set of photos and I cannot locate them either. Unfortunately I deleted them from my camera. I've been having trouble with my library. Events moving around for some reason. Could I have too many photos? I have 63,000 but still plenty of room on my hard drive. Help please

Are they not in the Last Import smart album at the left? Try sorting the Events by Date - Descending so that the last imports will be at the top of the screen. See if you can find them near or at the top.
Note: always make sure the uploading of photo was successful before deleting the photos from the camera by reformatting the memory card with the camera. A much safer work flow.

Have updated to 4.0.1, but cannot open it

I have downloaded Firefox 4.0.1 onto my power PC G4 mini using mac OSX version 10.5.8. When I try to open this new version I am told “You cannot open the application Firefox because it is not supported on this architecture. What can I do? Do I have to go back to the old version?

Firefox 4 doesn't run on a PowerPC Mac.
Firefox 4 requires at least OS X 10.5 and an Intel Mac.

Can see my documents on the Ipad but cannot open them

Hi I need help. Since a few days I still have all my documents in the cloud but first they all dissapeared from my IOS devices (Iphone4 and Ipad2). After a few times deleting the Iwork apps and reinstalling they finally came back but I cannot open the documents. they have a light grey background and just dont come up properly. I tried almost everything and it is driving me crazy. also my lates numbers document I created on my Ipad didnt upload to the cloud. Did anyone else have these issues? can anyone help???

How much free space do you have on your boot drive?
In the meantime try this:
Try to open your domain file with the script that Cyclosaurus has provided us below that you can make into an Applescript application with Script Editor. Open Script Editor, copy and paste the script below into Script Editor's window and save as an application.
Just launch the applicaiton, find and select the domain file you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.

My iPhoto libraries have been made with older vs. and cannot open them with iPhoto application or Library Manager

I have multiple iPhoto libraries made with older vs. of iPhoto. I cannot open any now with either iPhoto or iPhoto Manager, just get a spinning icon.

Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

I have downloaded pages but cannot open Word document...

I have downloaded the Pages App to my iPad mini. I open up an email on my iPad with a word document attached, but when I hold down on the icon it does not come up with the option to open with Pages. All I get is the option to open it with Mail, Adobe Reader or the 'Documents' app I downloaded (which won't work).
Does anyone know how to open this word document?
I have downloaded the free version of Pages to see what it's like before I pay for it. Might this be the problem?
Any support is much appreciated.

Quit the Mail app and reset the iPad.
Double click the Home button to show the screen with running and recently used apps. Each app icon will have a sample page above it. Flick up on the page (not the app icon) and the page will fly away and the app icon will disappear. This quits that app. Then reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.

I am trying to upload a downloaded pdf file, but cannot open the downloaded files

I am trying to open 2 downloaded pdf files (ticketmaster tickets) from 4/23/11 so that I can upload them to stubhub.com and sell them. I can't even open a pdf file that I downloaded today? Plus, the pdf files are not being saved in my download file on my C disk as I have specified. Any suggestions?

I am 99.9% certain that all pages were uploaded. You can confirm this by downloading it and checking to see that it's all there.
The problem is that the file previewer within Workspaces.acrobat.com only displays the first 50 pages.
You might try our other file storage service at files.acrobat.com. The previewer there displays all pages of uploaded PDFs.

I have downloaded ringtones to my iPad but cannot get them to sync to my iPhone

What device are you trying to open it on - you need the iBooks app on an iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch to be able to read it, you can't open it on a computer (Mac or PC).

Can see thumbnails of open tabs but cannot open them at all

Firefox upgraded itself on the weekend.
I have been visiting blogs through the Bloggers' Quilt Festival, which I'm participating in. I tried to leave comments but on the blogspot and blogger blogs was not able to. This morning I saw a bunch of extra thumbnail windows open in Firefox so I closed them, but now the whole of Firefox has shut on me. I can see two or three thumbnails and have a screenshot but I can't actually get them to open.
I saw the advice about starting Firefox in safe mode but that doesn't work from the thumbnails.
Really need help asap because I work from home and work depends on easy fast access that I depend on Firefox for

an alternative way to get into safemode (all other firefox windows have to be closed first): press windows-key + R and open:
firefox.exe -safe-mode

Please could anyone help me, I have just purchased a new external hard drive and all seems to be well. I organised my iPhoto library and albums because I had duplicate photos. Got rid of all those in the trash.
I thought I would have a look at a few photos, they were all there to see but when I double click on the photo a big black box appears with a big exclamation mark in the center.
I have tried to rebuild in iPhoto manager and repair permissions but nothing has changed PLEASE can anyone tell me how to get my photos back so I can use them again. Also in iPhoto manager I seem to have a default and a library, I have tried both but the problem is the same.
Simple terms please, I am not an expert, but any suggestions would be so appreciated.

First, what is the formatting of the external hard drive? It should be OS X Extended (journaled). You can determine it by selecting the EHD and typing Command + i.

If it isn't formatted to that you should move the library off of it and reformat.
The "!" is an indication that the file path to the original file has been broken So make a temporary, duplicate copy of the library and apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Select the options identified in the screenshot.
Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.
