I installed updates now I can't get on the internet, why?

I installed updates (itunes 10.5, Safari 5.1.1 and Security update 2011-006  1.0) now I can't get on the internet, Why???

Well if it doesn't see the network in the WiFi drop down... then we got problems. Move it closer to the router...

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

  • HT1338 Software Update says it can not connect to the internet - why?

I had to take my MacBook in to have it worked on. I can't afford to buy a new one so I have to fix this one. I had OS 7.2 Lion installed. Since then Software Update will not work always saying I should check my network connection to make sure it is operating normally as Software Update is not responding. I also get messages that I am not connected to the internet. I tried to update iPhoto 9.2 to 9.2.1 and when i finally got it uploaded off the internet [took forvever] it would not load saying I needed iPhoto 9.2. to load it! When I tried to send what I had shot from PhotoBooth to iPhoto 9.2 it said I did not have iPhoto at all. Is there anything I can do myself to correct this situation? Has anyone else experienced this kind of thing?

Did this happen to you, too? Or something similar?

Your only option is to connect your iPhone to your computer via USB (as the diagram indicates) and restore using iTunes.

I updated my 3gs to 6.1.3 now I can't get mail the phone constantly restarts itself and I can't get it to Restore thanks Apple what can I do?

Im having the same problem, I updated my Iphone 4S to 6.1.3, shortly after that my phone had no audio. It was working fine one minute and then stopped. Was listening to music when sound gave out on me. It wont ring, phone just vibrates even after turning off vibration option. I've tried all the options listed and nothing. My phone has never been jailbroken either. If I connect the earphones is works perfectly. On one of my last calls received, phone's ringtone was heard for about 2 seconds before muting and just vibrating. Ringtone sounded perfect, speakers did not sound damaged.
What else could be done? I've read several post regarding this and it seems like Apple has no solution to this yet. Very dissappointed.

  • How do I skip upgrading itunes? I used to have an option, now I can't get past the upgrade for free screen!

I have been trying to access the itunes store for a week now but can not get past the screen to upgrade for free.  I do not want to upgrade, I tried but can not install the free upgrade because I am using 10.2.2.  I do not want to upgrade I just want to get to the itunes store... how do I get past this screen?  There used to be an option to skip the upgrade.

I have an iMac G5 with a pre-Intel processor.  My current OS is 10.4.1.  When I open my iTunes store function, I get an upgrade to iTunes 10.5 page that does not allow me the opportunity to refuse the recommended upgrade and I don't want it because my processor is not the Intel processor.  I can't get past this page to access the iTunes store.  I can't find iTunes 9.2.1 online to download, if that is the only solution.  I can't believe Apple is forcing me to purchase a new iMac in order to continue using iTunes on my current iMac.  I'd like a good answer and solution to this problem.

I put the Bt WiFi app on my iPad Mini  and now I can't connect to the internet.  Please Help

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

  • IPad can't get in the internet via a WPA2 Enterprise setup

I've seen some similar posts and no real answers. My Office just got set up with Wireless, it's cisco gear and using RADUIS to authenticate. What they told us to do on the windows boxes was this:
    Connect to the SSID
    use WPA2 Enterprise Authentication
    TKIP Encryption
    Use PEAP Authentication
    Uncheck the "Validate Server Certificate"
Authentication Method is EAP-MSCHAP v2 on the PEAP properties screen
Following these instructions on Windows 7 I can get on the network.
I tried this on my iPad:
    connected to the network
    selected WPA2 Enterprise
It Prompted my for my login/password
    I entered them....
Then I got a certificate and it asked me to accept/install it, and I did
Then it connects to the access point and gets a signal
Even though I am connected and authenticated I can't get on the internet, and I get no IP address. Not a DHCP issue since other devices work.
Any ideas on alternate configurations, or what I'd need to do with the iPhone Configuration Utility to get this working?

"Unsupported" device - I've heard that before, too many times... =)
So after thinking on everything you've tried, it's safe to say that your AP is running PEAPv0 with EAP-MSCHAPv2 for Authentication. This is good news - as it is probably the most widely used Enterprise WiFi configuration, iOS devices should absolutely be compatible with this. Getting a non-domain XP PC connected was a great idea, as I have discovered that Windows XP is kind of "loose" in the way it handles PEAP certificates - it will accept any certificate given to it by a RADIUS server without question. Undoubtedly a big security hole, but it does have the advantage of being "user friendly." I don't think Apple's implementation is quite as loose, so even though you are manually accepting one certificate, you probably need more to complete the chain of trust required for your device to authenticate the server. This is a requirement for PEAP to function.
So at this point, I think your best bet would be to migrate over to the Credentials tab. If you're running the iPhone Config Utility on a PC which connects to the AP, you already have the certificates in your trusted certificate store - so simply hit the add button and add any relevant certificates. For example, if your domain is named "corporate", import any certificates bearing that domain. Once you've done this, head over to the Trust tab under WiFi and check off your newly imported certificates as being trusted for your connection.
In addition, if you can figure out what the name of the RADIUS server on the other end of the AP is doing the authentication, add it under "Trusted Certificate Names" - if you don't know it, you can also add a wildcard like "*.corporate" to trust any servers in your domain. This shotgun approach is probably your best bet for making it go initially.
You will know this is all working when you no longer get the dialog on your iPad to accept the certificate, and hopefully, you get an IP address.
We're truly in the thick of it now, and this is my last idea - so if this does not work, we will need to call on those stronger than I with iOS networking... or, you can call up your IT department and start the conversation off with the words "I bet you can't figure this out" - that always gets IT people going =)
    Best of luck!

  • My wi fi is connecting up fine on my ipod but i can't get onto the internet

My wi fi is connecting up fine on my ipod but i can't get onto the internet. My ipod has been working fine until now and i have tried re- setting the network settings and all the other options that have been given but nothing seems to make any difference. If i try to get onto internet at all on my ipod, for instance, facebook and safari it will just come up no internet connection, even when the bar is full at the top. Can anyone help ?

Despite the WiFi sign at the top you may not really be connected to your WiFi network.
Your router may not have given your iPod a valid IP address. To check on this go to Settings > Wifi > your network name and touch the ">" to the right to see the network details. If the IP address shown starts with 169 or is blank then your router didn't provide an IP address and you won't be able to access the Internet.
Sometimes the fix for this can be as simple as restarting your router (remove power for 30 seconds and restart). Next, reset network settings on your iPod (Settings > General > Reset > Reset network settings) and then attempt to connect. In other cases it might be necessary to update the router's firmware with the latest from the manufacturer's support web pages.
If this problem continues you should test your iPod on some other networks. Since you say your iPod was "working fine" either it or your router may have developed a hardware problem. If the iPod works OK on other networks your router may have a problem.
If you need more help please give more details on your network, i.e., your router make, model and version, the wifi security being used (WEP, WPA, WPA2), etc.
