Did you fail to import your photos before updating? If so, then they are likely gone. You can try restoring from backup. If that fails then they are gone. You should regularly import photos to your computer, most especially before any update.
Did you fail to transfer any purchases on iphone ( that were not on your computer) to your computer before updating? If so, then you will have to redownload:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

ok...so I had to restore my computer back to its original factory state:( now I have lost all my music on itunes. Can I get them back?? if so, how??
You can download everything you purchased from the iTunes Store without having to pay again:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Here is the procedure for your reference, using iTunes 10.7. The procedure and screenshots for newer versions are contained in the above link.
This assumes what you purchased is still available in the Store.
Open iTunes and click on iTunes Store on the left
On the right you will see this
Sign in with your Apple ID, then click on "Purchased" (with the orange blob)
On the summary page that appears select the tab "Not on This Computer" on the right.
On the list that appears, select what you want and then click the "Download" button. -
I recently did an update to my iphone 4s and now I have lost all my custom ringtones as well as some music I had loaded. I did a restore and backup but nothing changes. What have I done wrong?
Hello Chance1985,
Sorry for your wait. Okay so let's try re-connecting with iTunes on your computer and syncing your device. This may give you all your stuff back. Sync in Music tab.

i had a problem with my iphone and had to restore and now i have lost all music from itunes any way to get it back ?
It should ne in itunes on your computer and included in your regular backup of your computer.
If for some reason you have failed to backup your music, then - in the U.S only - you can get previous itunes purchases from the beta version of icloud. Open itunes store, click Purchased, under Quick Links. -
I have an iPhone 4 and plugged it into itunes on my computer for the first time. Only to discover my sister has obviously plugged hers into my itunes account and now I have lost all my photos and numbers. Please help me!!
It can't do that by itself. You had to click through several prompts telling it to restore it from a backup of an old phone for that to happen.
If the phone was not backed up to iCloud before this happened, or to another computer, then the data is gone. There is no way to recover it. -
I had to restore my ipod touch when doing an update and now I have lost all my games. Is there a way to get them back?
Restore from backup
To restore from backup see:
iOS: How to back up
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store -

I've just upgraded to V5.0 and now I have lost ability to 'open in new tab'
I've just upgraded to V5.0 and now I have lost ability to 'open in new tab' whats happening?
Thanks but I've reinstalled V4 until V5 is stable and more or less working the way I want to work - not the way some programmer thinks I should want to work.
You know change is OK but only if it makes things better for the user Change shouldn't be made to make the developer feel good about his/her expertise. For me V4 was Good. V5 gives me too many issues to deal with - I just need a relatively simple browser (and I guess I'm not the only 1 out there that feels like this). -
Big Mistake, I upgraded to OS X Mavericks this morning and now I have lost all my e-mail folders where I was saving important e-mails. I did a mailbox rebuild and it did not bring them back. Should not have upgraded?
I do not remember what version of OS it was. I have carbonite back up but I am not sure it backed up my e-mail.

Just got my ipod stolen and now I have changed all my passwords assigned to that ipod, can the person who stole it still see my updated emails and also can they see my facebook, although I changed the password to that too.
If you changed your facebook password they will not be able to login to your Facebook account.
Of course, other Facebook users may be able to see some of Facebook information depending upon how you have your privacy settings configured. -

No.
You can possibly find it if you have Find My iPhone enabled with your iCloud account settings on the iPhone along with Location Services being enabled. -

Husband updated my iphone 4 to iOS 5 and now I have nothing, no contacts, no calendar, no photos, no texts , How do I get them back? I am lost without them. Feel like my phone is now just a phone.
The same thing happened with me. I was updating my husband's iPhone 3GS to iOS 5, and it lost his calendars and contacts. When I did the update, I let it do a sync and backup first.
Since that time, I tried to do a restore, and it only saw a back up from October, 2010. Where are backups stored? Are they invisible files on the mac? His laptop is a 13" macbook running 10.6.8. -
I had to reinstall thunderbird and now I have lost all previous information.
I have lost all emails in my inbox. sent box and all folders on Thunderbird . Can anyone help? Many Thanks. starter
Perhaps Thunderbird just is not looking in the correct place.
Make hidden folders visible.
* http://kb.mozillazine.org/Show_hidden_files_and_folders
In Thunderbird
* Help > Troubleshooting Information
* click on 'Show folder' button
* a new window opens showing Profile folder.
You need to check two things.
'''1. Are there two Profiles?'''
see image:
In my case, when I click on the 'Profiles' directory, it shows I have one Profile called xxxxxx.default and I am open on that profile.
If you have two profiles, select the other profile
or
If there is only one Profile:
click on 'Mail' folder (if you had a pop mail account) or 'IMAPMail' folder if it was an Imap mail account.
'''2.How many mail accounts are there? '''
You should see Local folders plus others.
click on a mail account name to see folder names.
Do you see a mail account which has all the correct folder names.
You can check to see if a file (not .msf) has emails.
Right click file and choose to open with 'Notepad'.
When you locate the mail account which has the emails, make a note of the Profile name and the mail account name.
Close the window.
In Thunderbird
* Tools > Account Settings > Server Settings for the mail account
bottom right look for 'Local directory'...see image.
click on 'Browse' and navigate to the correct Profile and mail account name and click on Open.
It should be some thing like this:
* C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\xxxxxxxx.default\Mail\mail account name
then click on ok to save changes.
close and reopen Thunderbird.
