i just got a macbook pro and i put my icloud information in and i can't find my music, tv shows or even movies in itunes

Music and other purchased media doesn't sync to your Mac from iCloud, it must be downloaded to your iTunes library, as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519.
If they are on an iOS device, they can also be transferred to your iTunes library by opening iTunes on your Mac, authorizing iTunes for all Apple IDs used to purchase the media in Store>Authorize This Computer, then connecting your device to your computer and going to File>Devices>Transfer Purchases.

  • I just got a MacBook Pro and and Screen Cracked? Help?

JUst got a MacBook Pro and my friend, kinda Droped it. Any Help for replacemnt. Is it possible to get a free replacemnt.

The way to get a free replacement is to have your clumsy friend buy a new one for you. There's no other way. The warranty doesn't cover your computer against clumsy friends — only manufacturing defects.

  • I share an apple id with my family right now but I just got a MacBook Pro and want my own apple id. I don't want any music, etc to be lost for me or my family. How does this work?

Thanks for any help with my apple id delima.

You can set up an iCloud account which makes the iCloud email address you choose the Apple ID and thus the login for it:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/22283348#22283348
though I have to say I think it's more sensible if the ID is another address, both for security reasons (so people don't know what the login is) and as a contact address from Apple if the account were to stop working and they needed to contact you. So personally I would to to System Preferences, enter the GMail address which is an ID, and then choose a nerw @icloud.com address.
If she has her own iCloud account she will need either her own computer or her own user account on your Mac to be able to make use of it. You should note that under Apple's terms of use Apple IDs are only available to children of 13 and over.
As to purchasing apps, this is nothing to do with iCloud: it's iTunes, and the login can be different. So you can all sign into the same iTunes account but have different iCloud accounts. Or she can have her own iTunes account if she is of suitable age (credit card needed for purchasing apps).
If you have other children you should be aware that any one Mac or device can create only three iCloud accounts - this is tied to the serial number, not the user account, and once reached cannot be bypassed. You can of course sign into an iCloud account created on another device.

  • I just got a Macbook Pro and I dont know if....

I dont know if it comes with OS X LION instaled.

    Hi,
If it was purchased in the last 1 month then you will either have OSX Lion or you will be elligable for a free upgrade.
To find out if you have it installed click on the apple logo at the top left of the screen, and from that menu select "about this mac"
Apple operating systems are nicknamed after the cats, tiger - leopard - snow leopard and now Lion. There actual names are OSX 10.x.x
The actual name that you will find for Lion is 10.7.? Snow Leopard (the previous version) is 10.6.?.
The ? is the number of the latest version of that particlular operating system. you do not need to worry about this one.
if that is a bit confusing you can go to the apple app store on your mac. Select the Lion download. It will have a button to buy the software, if this button is greyed out and has installed instead of Buy Now, then you have it installed.

  • I just got a macbook pro and I dont have Idvd on it? How and where can I get it help me please!

Please help me people NOW i need it for tomorrow for graduation!

Do you have a older Mac that had iDVD on it?  If you do you can try copying the application and the iDVD folder (located in the ~Library/Application Support folder) from the older Mac to the same locations on the new MBP.
Otherwise you'll have to purchase a copy of the iLife 09 disk from a 3rd party retailer and install it from there.  Why 09 instead of 11?
If you have to purchase an iLife disc in order to obtain the iDVD application remember that the iLife 11 disc only provides  themes from iDVD 5-7.  The Software Update no longer installs the earlier themes when starting from the iLIfe 11 disk nor do any of the iDVD 7 updaters available from the Apple Downloads website contain them.
Currently the only sure fire way to get all themes is to start with the iLife 09 disc:
This shows the iDVD contents in the iLife 09 disc via Pacifist:
You then can upgrade from iDVD 7.0.3 to iDVD 7.1.2 via the updaters at the Apple Downloads webpage.

Have you tried restarting your Mac?
If so, and if you are sure you do not have any applications or widgets that can use your iSight running (it is easy to forget widgets like Mirror in your Dashboard), you should next try every suggestion re: Built-in iSight in How to Troubleshoot iSight. Be sure to include the checks for whether the problem is "application-specific" and "user-specific".
If resetting or the other suggestions do correct your problem, you can try the following:- Backup your Home Folder, or at very least, your important files.
    - Repair permissions.
    - Then download and apply the Mac OS X 10.4.9 Combo Update (iNtel).
    - Finish with another Permissions Repair, and then check your iSight again.Users have reported fixes to a variety of audio, video, connectivity, and software conflicts and unreliability issues after properly applying Combo Updates.
A few iNtel Mac laptop users have also reported success after unplugging their Macs and leaving the battery out for half-an-hour to overnight.
If none of these suggestions help, I suggest that you take your iMac to your Apple-Authorized Service Provider for a professional check.

  • Just got my MacBook Pro....having trouble opening up certain web pages...just keeps scrolling and scrolling, my 7 year old desk top that is on the same wireless network for internet opened up the same web page right away, so I think the Internet is OK

just got my MacBook Pro and I'm having trouble opening up certain websites, it just keeps scrolling and scrolling and never opens up the page....this is not the case with all websites, however my 7 year old desk top - which is connected to the same wireless Internet connection opened up the same page right away, so I don't think it's the Internet, any suggestions?

Use Software Update to update your os and anything else that needs to be updated.   Repair permissions and restart your computer when done.
Not sure if your new Mac came with 10.7.2 pre-installed as you make no mention of your os system.

  • I just got a MacBook Pro...when should I plug it in?

I just got a MacBook Pro, and have never had an Apple Laptop before.  I have an iPod touch and iPad, but this is my first laptop.  Should I let the battery run down before charging it? Should I plug it in while I work?

    luckysgirl92
Should I let the battery run down before charging it?
NO, never do that on purpose.  See below
Keep it plugged in when near a socket so you keep the charging cycles down on your LiPo (lithium polymer) cells / battery, but not plugged in all the time. When not being used for several hours, turn it off.
And best "tip" is if its near a socket,...plug it in as long as you can (especially at home) since cycle count on the battery are the "miles that wear out the tires (battery)", however again, not plugged in all or most of the time.
    http://www.apple.com/batteries/notebooks.html
"Apple does not recommend leaving your portable plugged in all the time."
While cycle count is commonly seen to be the “miles” on your Lithium Ion pack cell in your Macbook, which they are, this distinction is not a fine line at all, and it is a big misconception to “count charge cycles”
*A person who has, for example, 300 charge cycles on their battery and is recharging at say 50-60% remaining of a 100% charge has better battery usage and care than another person who has 300 charge cycles at say 15% remaining on a 100% charge.
DoD (depth of discharge) is far more important on the wear and tear on your Macbook battery than any mere charge cycle count.  *There is no set “mile” or wear from a charge cycle in general OR in specific.    As such, contrary to popular conception, counting cycles is not conclusive whatsoever, rather the amount of deep DoD on an averaged scale of its use and charging conditions.
(as a very rough analogy would be 20,000 hard miles put on a car vs. 80,000 good miles being something similar)
*Contrary to some myths out there, there is protection circuitry in your Macbook and therefore you cannot overcharge it when plugged in and already fully charged
*However if you don’t plan on using it for a few hours, turn it OFF (plugged in or otherwise) ..*You don’t want your Macbook both always plugged in AND in sleep mode       (When portable devices are charging and in the on or sleep position, the current that is drawn through the device is called the parasitic load and will alter the dynamics of charge cycle. Battery manufacturers advise against parasitic loading because it induces mini-cycles.)
Keeping batteries connected to a charger ensures that periodic "top-ups" do very minor but continuous damage to individual cells, hence Apples recommendation above:   “Apple does not recommend leaving your portable plugged in all the time”, …this is because “Li-ion degrades fastest at high state-of-charge”. This is also the same reason new Apple notebooks are packaged with 50% charges and not 100%.
LiPo (lithium polymer, same as in your Macbook) batteries do not need conditioning. However...
A lot of battery experts call the use of Lithium cells the "80% Rule" ...meaning use 80% of the charge or so, then recharge them for longer overall life.
Never let your Macbook go into shutdown and safe mode from loss of power, you can corrupt files that way, and the batteries do not like it.
The only quantified abuse seen to Lithium cells are instances when often the cells are repeatedly drained very low…. key word being "often"
The good news is that your Macbook has a safety circuit in place to insure the battery doesn’t reach too low before your Macbook will auto power-off. Bad news: if you let your Macbook protection circuitry shut down your notebook at its bottom, and you refrain from charging it for a couple days...the battery will SELF-DRAIN to zero (depending on climate and humidity)…and nothing is worse on a Lithium battery being low-discharged than self-draining down to and sitting at 0
Contrary to what some might say, Lithium batteries have an "ideal" break in period. First ten cycles or so, don't discharge down past 40% of the battery's capacity. Same way you don’t take a new car out and speed and rev the engine hard first 100 or so miles.
Proper treatment is still important. Just because LiPo batteries don’t need conditioning in general, does NOT mean they dont have an ideal use / recharge environment. Anything can be abused even if it doesn’t need conditioning.
    From Apple on batteries:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1446
    Storing your MacBook
If you are going to store your MacBook away for an extended period of time, keep it in a cool location (room temperature roughly 22° C or about 72° F). Make certain you have at least a 50% charge on the internal battery of your Macbook if you plan on storing it away for a few months; recharge your battery to 50% or so every six months roughly if being stored away. If you live in a humid environment, keep your Macbook stored in its zippered case to prevent infiltration of humidity on the internals of your Macbook which could lead to corrosion.

Not that's not normal and is one of the Problems I was having before Restoring as New...
Just make sure you Sync ALL your important Info... Contacts... Music... Etc... to your Computer...
and then do a Restore as New...
i was a bit reluctant at First, because I hadn't done it before... But it was So Easy and am Really Glad I did...

That would depend on whether your model actually has a hard drive. If you have the new 2013 Retina model, then you have a fixed storage device built-in that cannot be modified after purchase.
