I JUST INSTALLED MOUNTAIN LION, NOW THE SCROLL BALL ON MY MAGIC MOUSE SCROLLS IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION THAN IT DID BEFORE. I NOW HAVE TO ROLL THE BALL UP TO SCROLL DOWN.

If you go into System Preferences> Mouse. There is a box at the top of the screen that states Scroll direction: natural.
Be sure to uncheck the box after installing MOUNTAIN LION, then the mouse ball will scroll in uthe normal fashion.
   Thanks for all the help...

  • I've just installed Mountain Lion 10.8.5, but now the CS programs are giving me a licensing error.

I've just installed Mountain Lion 10.8.5, but now the CS4 and CS5 programs are giving me a licensing error. I've restarted. Uninstalled, reinstalled. And still, they don't work. I need to stay at 10.8.5 and not go to Maverick, per a client's needs at this time. Help!

I've also tried this...that I found in another discussion...also did not work.
Solution 1: Delete the FlexNet Publisher preferences folder
    -  Quit all Adobe applications.
    -  On your startup disk, locate and delete the following folder:
    [hard drive]/Library/Preferences/FlexNet Publisher/

  • HT1750 I JUST INSTALLED MOUNTAIN LION OSX ON MY I MAC 27 AND NOW IT WILL NOT ALLOW ME TO ADVANCE PAST THE STARTUP PAGE IT JUST CONTINUES TO RELOAD THE PAGE AS INFINITUM. HELP!!!

I have just installed Mountain Lion OS X 10.8.3 on my Imac 27 and now on startup the page just continues to reload continueously and makes it imposible to access the system preferences app or anything else for that matter. initial startup is as before but stops at the facepage, mouse track pad and cursor keys are rendered useless as the arrow will not respond of even appear except for a millisecond occasionally.
I'd appreciate any assistance with this problem and solution if it exsists.

It appears you have a corrupt install. My first reaction would be to boot to the Recover Partition and then reinstall Mountain Lion. If you don't know how to boot from the Recovery Partition please visit Apples Advice letter that explains how located at:

Hopefully you followed Apple's advice on backing up your system prior to upgrading.

  • I've just installed mountain lion on my macbook pro. I cannot open preview and it is also stalling the log out sequence? How can I solve this

I've just installed Mountain Lion on my Macbook pro and cannot now open Preview. I've partly solved the reading of PDF documents by installing Adobe Reader, but Preview is also stalling the log out process. Any suggestions how I might solve this annoying trait would be most appreciated. Many thanks.

Just an FYI, normally you give the 'solved' award to the person who gave you the answer, not to yourself.

  • Just installed mountain Lion. Viewing a pdf sent to me using preview and some colors are appearing BLACK, however when I view the same PDF in Acrobat they are perfect and what they are suppose to be. WHY would PREVIEW showing a different color?

Just installed mountain Lion. Viewing a pdf sent to me using preview and some colors are appearing BLACK, however when I view the same PDF in Acrobat they are perfect and what they are suppose to be. WHY would PREVIEW showing a different color?

Here's what I've found on the issue:
Pantone color definitions have changed (coinciding with CS6) — they are now "Pantone+" (I think that's what they're called). The "+" apparently means they're now LAB colors. Lab colors are not properly displayed in Preview (or in Finder previews) — they display as black (as far as I can tell, in all circumstances). I'm sure it's a tad more complicated than that, but that's the gist.
Now the bad news — nobody seems to know anything about a fix or workaround (unless you convert your PDFs to process — this might be a fix for sending to clients). It causes issues for me in AI files — being able to view them in the finder (with previews) is a HUGE time saver for my workflow... when they're all black, not so much.
In my chat with a director of product dev at Adobe, they placed the responsibility to fix on Apple (assuming Apple wants to support Pantone color definitions in their OS).

  • I have just installed Mountain Lion over Snow Leopard, I now can't open Photoshop?

Hi everyone, I have just installed Mountain Lion over Snow Leopard. The installation went smooth and woks well. Now I find that Ican't open either Photoshop CS or Microsoft Word. I upgraded in order to install Lightroom 5, obviously there is now an incompatability, is there a work around?

If that is the original Photoshop CS, and Word 2004 or earlier, then they won't open because Lion and Mountain Lion do not support PowerPC apps. They must be Intel code. Snow Leopard could run them because it included Rosetta, a PowerPC to Intel (and back) interpreter.
    You have a few options.
    1) Go back to Snow Leopard.
    2) Update your apps to compatible versions.
    3) If you have Mountain Lion because newer apps require it then:
    a) Install Snow Leopard Server (currently being sold by Apple for $20) in a VM such as Parallels, and then run your PPC apps in the VM.
    b) Install Snow Leopard on a separate partition and boot to that version of OS X when you need to use those older apps.

  • Just installed mountain lion now my scanner won't work

Just installed mountain lion and now my epson scanner won't work!  message says "power PCs are no longer supported-is there an app?

Bet you upgraded from Snow Leopard. The scanner software you have installed is likely PPC but could run in Snow Leopard, which was the last version of Mac OS X that supported it, rather than just Intel software.
I'd suggest going to the Epson website and getting Mountain Lion compatible drivers from their Drivers and Support page. They will be for Intel Macs such as yours.

  • I just installed Mountain Lion. I'm having an issue on the log in screen.

    Hello,
I just installed Mountain Lion 10.8.2 on my iMac. We have four user accouts on the computer and when you first wake the computer where you would normally choose an account and log in the screen is white. When you move the mouse around it leave a little trail of the log in screen until you find your acct and click on it and then it allows you to log in. Its never done that before, at least until I upgraded. This computer was bought right before Lion came out and I didn't upgrade it right away because I wanted to wait and see how everyone else liked it. I finally upgraded last week and aside from this issue it works great and I love the features but it is really annoying. What should I do? Has anyone else had the problem? I upgraded my Macbook and it hasn't had any problems but I only have one acct on it since my wife and kids don't use it. Thanks for the help in advance.

Contact Apple Service, iMac Service or Apple's Express Lane. Do note that if you have AppleCare's protection plan and you're within 50 miles (80 KM) of an Apple repair station, you're eligible for onsite repair since yours is a desktop machine.

I purchased my Macbook Pro in November 2011 and just installed mountain lion but do not have the power nap option.. anyone know why?

It is for the MacBook with built in flash storage.

    4. Power Nap requires a Mac notebook with built-in flash storage. May require a firmware update.

I have just installed Mountain Lion and received a message "speech synthesis server.app could not be opened because it is damaged or incomplete", please can you advise me what to do next? Thanks

Something went wrong with your upgrade.
Back up all data, then reinstall the OS. You don't need to erase the startup volume, and you won't need your backup unless something goes wrong. If your Mac was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you’ll need the Apple ID and password you used to upgrade.
If you installed the Java runtime distributed by Apple and still need it, you'll have to reinstall it.

  • I just installed Mountain Lion on my iMac that was previously running Snow Leopard. Bugt I found that some key applications no longer work, so I would like to go back to snow Leopard. I can't use time machine backups for this. what can I do?

I just installed Mountain Lion on my iMac. But In was dismayed to find that my Canon scanner software (Canoscan LIDE500F)no longer works. Nor do any of my MS offce applications. I tried to use time machine to reinstall Snow Leopard (my previous operating system), but unfortunately my time machine backups did not include system software. Also, the original system install disk that came with my iMac would not allow me to install Snow Leopard in place of Mountain Lion. I would appreciate it if somebody could tell me how to solve this problem.

The reason your Office doesn't work is because it is PowerPC code. If you will upgrade the 2004 Office to 2011 Office then that will work.
I don't understand how you managed to get your Time Machine backup to not backup the system.
Now if you still what to downgrade you will have to erase the disk and reinstall Snow Leopard. Most likely all of your application and then restore your data from Time Machine.
To me it sounds like it would be easier to upgrade your software and stay with Mountain Lion instead.

    Hi Thomas,
Thanks for the response.  So, after the computer did it's restart thing after installing I went into finder where I usually have everything come up including my Macintosh HD folder and all it's folders and files.. Anyway it was this that hadn't come up and all the files were listed under All My Files and out of all their folders.  I totally switched the computer off after posted the problem and now having switched it back on I see that it's all there and in it's proper files.
