Try holding down the Shift key in Windows when opening iTunes. In the resulting dialogue you will get the option to create a new library or navigate to an existing one. The default location for your iTunes library is in C:\Documents and Settings\Username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\ (or C:\Username\Music\iTunes\ in Vista). Look in there and see if you have more than one library file (they have the extension .itl) If you have more than one try opening them in turn, you may find your original library is still intact: How to open an alternate iTunes Library file

If you know the password to your apple id login - you can then do a restoration once you have put your device into recovery mode using itunes.
read this article to give you direction how to put your device into recovery mode.
Once you have put in your apple id login and password this then will allow you to restore the device once the device is placed in recovery mode.

And by the way I was right, I had to select gsm network after Verizon cleared my phone for international roaming and manually select the company Verizon has a roaming deal with "Claro" so I was in exactly the right area and you were completely wrong The reason it failed to register was because verizon didnt authorize international roaming. You can't get in unless you know the password so Now you have to restore the iPad in order to unlock it. You should restore the iPad to the same computer that you sync with so that you can restore your app data and iPad settings. You will probably need to use recovery mode in order to restore the device as well.

I buy a 17" iMac and a week later they launch new iMac! Can I get a refund?
So two and a half weeks ago I go and but a new 17" iMac from the apple store in the Trafford Centre, Manchester UK. They store assistant did not mention nothing about the new range otherwise I would have waited a week ! The same money would by me a bigger screen now and a better spec machine ! Can Apple do this ? Do I have any rights ? I feel like I have just thrown 800 quid down the drain !
In the US you could. I saw several folks doing that at my local apple store. Don't know about the UK. In the future look to the internet. There are a lot of sites that predict fairly accuratly when a new Mac is coming out. It was known for a couple months that this one was close to out.

New iMac user, can you use a fan to cool the back?

I'm a new iMac user, a new mac user full stop. I recently was given one for college because I'm dyslexic so I recived one to help with college work. I'm a P.C girl mostly so i'm very new to this system, but we do use these at college thou I avoided them like the plauge because I just didn't know how to use them.
ANYWAYS....I noticed that the back get's very hot, my desk is by the window of my room because it gets a little hot in my room at time's and I know my P.C would heat but so the window it was.
i was wondering if used an external fan behind the mac might help with the temp, nothing big just a small fan for the back of the computer like the one's you use in an office but allot smaller? is this a good idea or not?

Cap'Pixie xoxJust be sure it's fixed low enough to be aimed upwards. That way it won't prevent the hot air escaping from the upper exhaust by blowing it back in. It will be blowing dust around too, so keep the area as dust free as possible. Whether I need to run this fan depends on the intenal temps and how hot the back feels. But can aid considerably in cooling. Get iStat Pro.

New iMac: how can I get the internal mic to turn off?
I always have Facetime cameras and internal mics disabled for privacy. Cameras are easy to block, but the Sound pane doesn't allow me to disable the mic, only turn the input down to the bottom. Supposedly, its off, right?
Poking around in Prefs, I saw that my supposedly "disabled" microphone showed a response in the Dictation & Speech pane VU meter when I would snap my fingers around the bezel. Even worse, it showed a response to conversation in another room, the refrigerator starting up in the kitchen 25 feet away, and even an increase in ambient noise. Going back to the Sound prefs, the mic input is still turned "down" and doesn't show a response when I snap my fingers.
So... how is it that this supposedly defeated mic is working normally, and in fact exceeding expectations, despite being effectively turned "off" in the Sound pane?
Basically, this iMac is a very expensive bug sitting on my desk. Is there a way to properly disable the mic in the system? I can't even find the thing to block it physically, like with bezel cameras. There is no place for an external mic to plug in either, which would physically bypass any internal mic on my previous Macs.Interested parties may want to know...
I went to the Apple Store two weeks ago for a replacement Airport Express. While I was waiting for it, I struck up a conversation with one of the store staff, and brought up the mic issue. We spent a good ten minutes going through the few ways of securing the mic, and we determined that every iMac made has the ability to continue listening evne though dictation is shut off. Unlike old Macs, you can't disable the mic in the Sound prefs. You can't turn off listening in the Dictation prefs - even though turning off "dictation" means the dictation part of the OS stops listening. The only way to definintely shut off the "listening" part is to keep the Audio Devices panel open, select Built-in Microphone, and make sure the master mute button is checked. Also, you have to leave the Dictation & Speech pane open in Preferences to watch the mic display.
Even so, going to any other preference panel and then back to Dictation & Speech means that the master mute will uncheck itelf and the mic goes back to listening mode.
The staff member was quite frustrated by this and said it appears the only way to stop the iMac from listening with any certainty would be to block the mic, just like millions of users block the Facetime camera with a piece of tape.
I suppose I should admit defeat at this point, and maybe I should have long ago recognized that no matter what the system tells us, we shouldn't trust it. Simply clicking on a radio button to disable what in all actuality is really a room bug shouldn't have us letting out a sigh of relief and saying "Wow I'm glad I was able to stop that security issue by trusting the machine to let me know when it was listening."
In another year my Apple Care will run out. Then I'm going to take this iMac to my local authorized service center to have a hybrid drive installed and the internal memory maxed out. While they're in there, I'll have the mic physically removed. -
Help! I accidentally added a new library and can't get into my old one!
So we recieved this Passport (a hard drive, like a USB Mass Storage) with a TON of music on it. So I was going through the music, manually clicking-and-dragging each music file I wanted into a folder on the desktop. The folder was underneath iTunes.
As I was dragging a Justin Timberlake song, I accidentally dragged it into the iTunes icon. A window popped up and said something along the lines of: "This something cannot support something and iTunes will need to create a new library. Yes. No." So I pressed yes and continued dragging music files into the folder on my desktop.
Later, as I was transfering the music in the folder to iTunes, I finished and pressed sync. Yet, when I looked on my iPod after the sync, none of the music showed up. So I checked my library and it was a completely new library, with none of my old songs on it--- just the new ones!
So as I frantically fumbled around iTunes for a few hectic hours, all I accomplished was getting all of my old music into the new library, and finding my old library.
During that time, I had pressed iTunes help at one point and it had told me that if there are two libraries in iTunes, you can only view the other libraries songs and videos. So when I go to my old library, the songs (titles, album names, and artists) are faded out (grey-colored instead of black)!
So now I have all my new songs and old songs in the second library and also all the new songs and old songs in a playlist. The only way I can even VIEW my OLD library is by connecting my iPod and viewing the old library while it's faded.
How do I combine them? How do I get rid of the old library and just use the new one? HELP!!!Try holding down the Shift key in Windows when opening iTunes. Cannot log on to firefox home and can't get into safe mode
after installing an add on, I can not open the firefox window, or get into safe mode.......so I have no way of applying any troubleshooting actions.......the add on was an extension to stop ads and banners, the name was 3 letters A-- ...should I reinstall firefox?.........thanks for your time and expertise.......Larry

I have the same problem that the progress bar stops at 1/4 the it reboots in the normal way..but the big difference between me and the other user is that i am stucked at the apple boot logo and i can't access to my computer and right now i really need it.
I use this mac for work and i am on a business trip.
I don't really know how to do and it seems that this problem haven't been solved yet by other people.
