OK, well I solved my own problem by replacing this file with one from a recent TimeMachine backup. Looks like the update must have damaged this file ... strange.

I just installed software updates to my computer and after restarting cannot access Safara. The message says because of a TelevisionFantaticsToolbar plugins. Cannot find on my computer. How do I  delete this and regain access to Safari?

Save and/or quit your applications & documents  Go to Applications>Utilities Folder  Click Disk Utility  Click the Volumne (HD) that you want to check.  Click the Repair Disk Permissions button. (Don't worry about verifying)  At the bottom of window when the repairs have finished, you will see the “most important thing”: Permission Repairs Complete The privileges have been repaired or completed on the selected volumne.
Restart your computer to confirm repairs.

  • Ran software update and now all my bookmarks are gone.

I ran a software update and when I opened Safari I noticed all my bookmarks are gone. I located the Bookmarks.plist and it shows nothing of my old (2 1/2 years worth of) bookmarks in it. Is there any way I can get them back or am I toast?
    Any help would be great.

    You may be toast.
Do you have any backups of your system, or at least your user library file?
Have you used Spotlight to search your system? The installer via Software Update updates the app, however leaves the Safari folder in the User Library alone. If for some reason you moved this folder, a new one would be created when you started up Safari after the update.

  • Ran Software Updates and Now Drop Frames during Playback

I updated all of my Software back in late December. Since I have updated, all projects (old and new created ones) within Final Cut drop frames during playback. I had no issues with drop frames until I ran the Software Updates. Currently running Leopard 10.5.6, Final Cut 6.0.5, Quicktime 7.5.5. Any suggestions on how to determine why I now have drop frames. Is there an easy way to revert back to software that was in place prior to me running Software Updates on 12/22/08?
Thanks in advance for your comments and suggestions.

    ZRose:
First, you should have an up-to-date tested reliable backup. The best way to do it is to get an external Firewire HDD, clone you entire computer to is using SuperDuper, then keep it up-do-date.
Next, get in the habit of doing regular maintenance procedures. Here are some links to help.

For the probably immediately at hand
    Repair Disk
Insert Installer disk and Restart, holding down the "C" key until grey Apple appears.
Go to Installer menu (Panther and earlier) or Utilities menu (Tiger) and launch Disk Utility.
Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in the left panel.
Select First Aid in the Main panel.
(Check S.M.A.R.T Status of HDD at the bottom of right panel, and report if it says anything but Verified)
Click Repair Disk on the bottom right.
If DU reports disk does not need repairs quit DU and restart.
If DU reports errors Repair again and again until DU reports disk is repaired.
If DU reports errors it cannot repair you will need to use a utility like Tech Tool Pro or Disk Warrior
BGreg's suggestion to install the Combo update is a valid fix. Remember to Repair Disk Permissions before and after installation.
Please post back with further questions or comments.
    Good luck.

  • Just did Automatic update and now system keeps crashing

I just installed the latest updates: iTunes7 and QuickTime 7.1.3 and restarted my PowerMac G4 and now it gets a ton of pixels when it launches OS X and the system freezes and says it needs to be restarted.
Can anyone give me some ideas of what to try out?

The system probably was in need of repair already, an "accident waiting to happen" which booting into the command line (Single User Mode with "command + s" on startup to run fsck would help alleviate), that and a backup of your system.
Also, Applejack is a great tool to have handy to run after running 'fsck' if you have a PPC Mac (like G4).
Use the latest Disk Utility otherwise, and maybe 3rd party utility that is 10.4.7 compliant (Disk Warrior for PPC, TechTool Pro 4.5.1 for PPC and MacIntel).
You can still try Single User Mode and fsck.

  • HT1222 I just installed this update and now I cannot access "Mail" at all.  I tried reinstalling the program, but that does not work, either.  Help!!!!!!

I just installed this update and now I cannot access "Mail" at all.  I tried reinstalling the program, but that does not work, either.  Help!

Paldeng, thanks for the suggestion.  I've done all that.  I can connect to the server, but apparently they are not recognizing my ID and password.  I can use the server program if I don't go through Mail (using the same ID and password).  My mother in another state with another provider has had the same email issue, as also my husband on his laptop who uses the same internet connection I do.  His worked fine until we had it repaired at the Apple store and all the original programs reloaded (with the required updates, I assume).  We can receive email in Mail, we just cannot send.
I contacted my service provider, and we went over my connections.  They said it was not their problem and connected me with Apple, resulting in a charge to me because my warranty is long expired.  Apple swears it is not their problem, it is the provider, so here I sit.  My son was able to fix my Mom's Mail (she's 97) and got my husband's working also, until mine went out, by tweaking connection descriptions and ports remotely.  The thing is, we had not messed with any of those settings, so what changed?  I just did not want to bother my son again, as he has many other demands on his time.
Since this fiasco with the Mail v4.6 update, I'm wondering if something else was updated that works well with Lion and Mountain Lion, but does not work well with Snow Leopard and Leopard.  I think the problem I had with the Mail update was that my Mail program had been renamed to Mail (original), and therefore was not being recognized by the update.  Perhaps they had another tweak in there somewhere that is affecting outgoing mail connections?

  • Did Lightroom software update and now camera won't tether

I have been using my Canon 5D Mark II tethered to Lightroom 4 successfully for quite some time. Last week I downloaded the software update and now the camera will not tether. I have tried two camera bodies and neither work. Both cameras will tether with Lightroom on a different computer (that didn't get the update). So, it's the software. Help!

    Hi
try a safe boot - holding down the Shift key until it starts up -
Simply performing the Safe Boot may resolve this issue.
Shut down your Mac. If necessary, hold your Mac's power button for several seconds to force it to power down.
Start your Mac, then immediately hold the Shift key. This performs a Safe Boot. Advanced tip: If you want to see the status of a Safe Boot as it progresses, you can hold Shift-Command-V during start up (instead of just Shift).
Note: A Safe Boot takes longer than a typical start up because it includes a disk check and other operations.
If your Mac starts up as expected, immediately try restarting.
If the Safe Boot does not work, or the restart after a successful Safe Boot does not work, go to the next section.

  • Aperture is asking to upgrade library every time I open the application, even after it has already been upgraded.  I just ran the update and it is still not fixed.  What can I do???

Aperture is asking to upgrade library every time I open the application, even after it has already been upgraded.  I just ran the update and it is still not fixed.  What can I do???  My plug are asking me to re-register them too.  This is annoying.  Please help!!!!!

How do you try to start the repair dialogue? By starting Aperture or by opening the Library?
If you not already have tried it with directly opening the library:
reveal your Aperture Library in the Finder
Whilst holding down Command(⌘)- option (⌥) double click on the Aperture Library.
Select "repair library" from the dialogue.
What about Frank Caggiano's questions above?
It would be really helpful to know, how many libraries you have, and if this problem is restricted to one of them.

    What version of iPhoto?

  • I just ran migration assistant, and now I have two accounts on my new iMac...how do I merge my iPhoto libraries?

I just ran migration assistant, and now I have two accounts on my new iMac...how do I merge my iPhoto libraries? Is there anyway to do it without using an external hard drive?

    Yes there is.
1: Log out and into the account you later want to remove.
2: Open your Pictures folder and look for the iPhoto Library.
3: Right or control click on it, a menu appears and choose the option "Show Package Contents", it's really a folder.
4: Find the folder called "Originals", select it and use the Finder menu to Duplicate it.
5: Move the Copy of Originals to the Desktop. Close the window.
6: From the Finder menu, select Go Computer.
7: A window appears with your boot drive, double click it and on the Users folder inside.
8: Select the OTHER users folder and open the folder called Public, inside is a folder called "DropBox"
9: Drag the Copy of Originals to that DropBox folder, it will copy it.
    10. Log out and into the other account and access the DropBox folder, your files can then be imported into that iPhoto user Library from within the program itself.

You didn't have enough battery power left when performing the update, and it died? That's bad.
You should be able to reinstall OS X using OS X Recovery or in the case of an older MacBook Air running Snow Leopard, by using your original System Install DVD and Remote Install OS X from another Mac.
Reinstalling OS X does not erase your user accounts or data.
