I keep getting the follow error messages when I try to sign into iTunes store or redeem a song code: We could not complete your iTunes store request. The network connection could not be established. There was an error in the iTunes store, please try again

I keep getting the following error messages on my Mac when I try to redeem a song code: "We could not complete your iTunes store request. The network connection could not be established. There was an error in the iTunes store, please try again later."  and then, "We could not complete your iTunes Store request. An unknown error occurred (-50)."

Hello, constance132.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Here are some troubleshooting steps that I could recommend when receiving error -50.
"Error -50," "-5000," "8003," "8008," or "-42023"
These alerts occur due to timeouts or conflicts trying to write a file during download.
If you encounter this issue while accessing iTunes Store:
See iTunes 9: "One Moment Please" or "Error (-50)" message when accessing iTunes Store
If you encounter this issue while while downloading something from the iTunes Store:
Delete your iTunes Downloads folder, located in:
Mac OS X:
~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Downloads   Note: "iTunes Media" may appear as "iTunes Music. Also, the tilde (~) refers to your Home directory.
Windows Vista:
  \Users\username\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Downloads\
Windows 7:
  \Users\username\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Downloads\
Windows XP:
  \Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Downloads\
After locating your iTunes Downloads folder:
Quit iTunes.
Delete the Downloads folder on your computer.
Open iTunes.
Choose Store > Check for Available Downloads.
Enter your account name and password.
If you encounter this issue while while downloading Digital Copies using Windows:
Use MSCONFIG (directions for Windows XP and Windows Vista/Windows 7) to disable conflicting software.
If using MSCONFIG steps resolves the issue, you may want to use the System Configuration Utility to turn on the third-party System Services and Startup Items one at a time (restarting your computer after turning on the item or items) to identify which System Service or Startup Item is causing the conflict.
You can turn all of them back on by selecting the Normal Startup option under the General tab of the System Configuration Utility window, but please note that this may cause the issue to reoccur.
If you are able to isolate the issue to a particular third-party software, you may wish to contact them to let them know of the conflict.

    What computer operating system?
And, where is the music coming from, iTunes? If so, that is a known problem with Premiere Elements (just about any version).
The answer has been to convert the iTunes music to the wav version in iTunes.

Why do I keep getting an "authentication failed" message when trying to join my network?

You may have to shut your computer off and pull the power adapter from both your ISP's Modem and your Router and wait 5 minutes and restart them in the following order.
1st your ISP's Modem and wait a minute to get your signal and lights.
2nd do the same with your Router and again you have to wait the minute.
Last restart your computer and boot in OSX use Safari.

I keep getting an "Update Failed" message when trying to update my apps using Creative Cloud.

[ Mac 10.9.3 / Indesign CC update fail / Premiere update fail / Adobe Media Encoder 7.2.2 update fail ]
Adobe Media Encoder was the problem for me. There's no separate uninstaller for AME. My ID CC and Premiere couldn't be updated (for the AME7.2.2 update as the only change). MCMHMPEGVideoCodec.framework seemed to be the factor.
I uninstalled Premiere (only), after having manually removed MCMHMPEGVideoCodec.framework from inside AME. After boot I installed it again and voilà, both (ID & Premiere) updates went trough fine. The MCMHMPEGVideoCodec.framework was on place inside AME too.

There is nothing to overcome, your mac is too old to run Mountain Lion.  For an iMac it must be a (Mid 2007 or newer)  http://www.apple.com/osx/specs/

    Thanks.

If the OP has this much RAM in their iMac, certain this Mac can run Mountain Lion.
The reason it might not be installing is that 15 GBs of RAM.
Your iMac should have (4) equal sized, 4 GB sticks of RAM for a total of 16 GBs.l
If your iMac is only reporting that there is only 15 GBs of RAM, you have a RAM stick that is either not seated in its slot properly or is defective/going bad.
This maybe the reason that it won't download it.
Also could be you are running out of free space on your HD.
You need, at least 15-20 % or greater free space left on your HD.

  • "Connection failed ... There was an error connecting to the server"

    Hi,
I have a late-2009 imac, running Snow Leopard and all the latest updates.
However, since ugrading to ilife '09, I now see the following error
    "Connection failed
There was an error connecting to the server
"BeechMac". Check the servername or IP address and then try again"
However, "Beechmac" was the name of the older G4 Mac from which I upgraded (using Time Machine) to the imac last year - and it no longer exists on the network.
As a test, I copied over to this Mac Mini (also latest OS and updates) all the iphoto directory prior to update and then updated to ilife '11 - same problem is seen.
I assume some files have some form of symbolic links to a networked partition ?
The only difference to my network/system has been updating to ilife '11 - and all I use is iphoto.
However, the error pops up every hour or so - and the mouse disappears and its tricky to gain mouse focus again to remove the message.
I've scoured the Internet - but no help.
    - Paul

I think I've identified the problem (or at least a solution).
There were broken Alias links for some of the photos in my iphoto directory.
I navigated Finder to the root of my iphoto collection and searched for "Kind: Alias"
I then checked (using Right-Click:"Get info") that the Alias was working (if not a broken Jpeg icon was shown), and if not fixed up.
It appears that in my system moves from taking photos from PC onto my original G5 Mac and then into iphoto (which had two partitions) some of the files had been aliased rather than copied. (Not sure exactly how this happened).
Anyway, I was able to repair the broken file by going into the Terminal and copying the required JPEG onto the Alias.
I wish there was an easier way to find broken Aliases - it was fairly tedious.
