Hi I'm having problems installing and starting itunes program on Windows 7 64bit. After install the following error message is flagged - The file "i Tunes Library.itl" cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes. Would really appreciate any pointers!
Never mind sorted it out lol. Somebody did a system restore of a week or so. I had done the update during that time and it was lost. Just redownloaded itunes from the internet and its working fine now.

When trying to sync my nano 5th Gen i got a message saying there was a problem and to try uninstalling and reinstalling. I did this step by step, but when reinstalling i was presented with this message. 'The file 'i Tunes library .itl' cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes'. Any ideas what i can doto rectify this????
ThanksIf you still have an issue you may have to see about using the iTunes version (application) included with Snow Leopard 10.6 from the installer or an another one if available online, and see if that will install.
Sometimes you may have uninstall the bits left in your system by the earlier (or later) iTunes installers; as they all leave a trace and these can stop a different version of iTunes from being installed.

The file i tunes library.itl cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of itunes?
I got this message after trying to open up itunes . I recently did a system restore to my computer to a restore point i made a couple days ago
My itunes library was huge and very organized have I lost it all because I restored my pc to 7 days ago????? SERIOUSLY I GOOGLED THIS and I HAVE READ SO MANY DIFFERENT ANSWERS ITS ANNOYING!!!!
I have windows vista
CAN SOMEBODY JUST GIVE ME A SOLUTION TO HOW TO GET MY ITUNES(PLAYLISTS AND ALL) BACK!!!!!
dont give me a way that deletes all my playlists because i had way over 1,000 playlists divided into Folders it was super organized! It sounds as though the system restore that you've done has reverted your computer back to a previous version of iTunes. In iTunes look at Help/About iTunes and as the scroll runs, you will see the iTunes version number.
The latest version of iTunes (on the day of writing) is 10.5.1.42, so if your iTunes is lower than that, it's possible that's what the problem is. (This assumes that you were previously using 10.5.1.42, which is a reasonable assumption.)
So make sure you have the latest version. I don't know why you did the system restore on your computer, but despite what some people may have you believe, iTunes is very stable and unlikely to be causing any issues on your computer that need to be undone with a system restore. -
Since yesterday I have been trying to get my iTunes to allow me to sync my iPhone with it to get the latest update. However, once I finally managed to download it iTunes would now allow for it to sync, telling me I needed the 64 bit iTunes which I already had and had downloaded at least 4 times trying to get it to work.
I followed someone elses advice and uninstalled all apple products and went to reinstall it and now I am getting the following message.
The file "i Tunes Library.itl" cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes.
Does anyone know how to fix this problem? And possibly even my other problem with the inability to sync my iPhone with iTunes?
Thank you.no one?

I get the error message The file "iTunes Library.itl" cannot be readbecause it was created by a newer version of itunes.
I tunes will not start, so I can't deauthorize the computer and do an uninstall/reinstall.
I have no idea what this means b/c I didn't import a new library.
Any help would be appreciated.no one?

When I try to open iTunes it says that it can't and I have no idea how to fix the problem. I've uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes 3 times and the same thing happens each time. Please help me!!
Unless you've recently attempted to downgrade iTunes this is probably a sign of a corrupt library file. See Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash.

The file "i tunes library .it" cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of itunes? What do i do help please
That message may appear if you intentionally downgrade iTunes, alternatively it may indicate a corrupt library database.

My iTunes won't open and I am getting message "the file iTunes library .itl"cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes. Anyone have a suggestion?
I don't know why this error occurs, unless you have attempted to downgrade iTunes.
This method should get you up and running again.
Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!
