i have lost the + and x at the back of the tabs and now i have what looks like a clear box behind the tab but its only 1/8" thick and is as tall as the tab box itself

If you have Tab Mix Plus then check its option to see if those buttons are still selected.

The candara font in italics is turning my words into what looks like another language (it's only happening in the italics version). Does anyone know how to fix it? (I'm running OSX 10.8.3 on a new iMac and the only change I've made recently is to install MS Office for Mac 2011)
This is what the font turns it into (it's supposed to say Chrysler Building & New York Public Library). The font came with Pages which is what I'm working in. It worked before but isn't now.

when i open .jpg picture in photoshop on MAC the the background thumbnail in the layers panel looks like a white box with the brush inside instead of picture thumbnail. how to fix it?
Very easy. That means you have a "no layer thumbnails" option selected.
Go into the Layers Panel menu at the upper right of the Panel, choose Panel Options and you will see Thumbnail sizes to choose from.
Select one, click OK.

I have what looks like a second dock and a second command-tab window?
In my house we've got two macs using the wi-fi, a Mac Pro late 2013 running Yosemite and a Mac Mini also running Yosemite. What's strange is sometimes I get what looks like a second dock with only one icon, Chrome (my default browser). The Chrome icon has a little circle with a monitor above it. When I command-tab, that same icon is in a second command-tab box, and it's there even when Chrome is closed. I can't figure out how to make these things go away. I am not using it myself but I have seen son presentations where the "second" dock represents an application running on your iPhone where your current task can resumed by using that feature -
I simply need to know how to do this. Everything online talks about doing this as a watermark feature or during Export only. I need to know how to do this during the Develop stage, if it's possible.
I took a photo of a couple for a pregnancy announcement shoot. We added a chalk board that had the date the birth is to take place written on it, but it didn't show as well when I reviewed the first couple pics. So I erased the chalk board thinking that I could just add the date via Lightroom, but I have been unable to figure it out. Any help would be very much appreciated.To create a graphic watermark or identity plate for this purpose with a hand written chalk look you would need Photoshop or Elements to create a transparent PNG file so you might as well do the whole thing in one of those programs to start with. You can't do this in the develop stage anyway like you requested.

After I pulled a screen protector off my new ipad I found round spots on the actual screen of the ipad which will not go away. The protector was an IKIT one.
It's probably just dried solution from the application of the screen protector. You can get some safe cleaning solutions for your iPad screen. there's iClean, Monster has an iPad safe solution........

When I print from my iPad the page comes out of the printer with what looks like a miniature version of the page that I printed. But when I print from my iPhone it prints perfectly. Does anyone know why or how I can change my iPad setting so that it prints things full scale?

Hi, I just updated my mac from version10.6 to 10.9.3 os mavericks. i went to open iPhoto and it says "Your photo library will not be readable by previous versions of iPhoto after the upgrade." does this mean I have lost all photos i had in there? It does not give me a choice, it just says quit or upgrade? p.s. i didn't realise ther was a way to back up my computer beforehand, which i am guessing this is time machine?
1. No, you haven't.
2. Back up the iPhoto library(this can be done through Time Machine or by dragging it to a drive, partition, or disk image formatted as Mac OS Extended) and then click Upgrade.
3. Aside from Time Machine and drag-copying items from your home folder, programs such as the Disk Utility, Carbon Copy Cloner, and SuperDuper can make backups.

i have the new version of iMovie, and when i try to start the program, i can't because it says that it is looking for some movie files from the Iphoto, so all the program is locked up... how can i do to restart the program??

Did You may be direct iPhoto to a different Photo Library
As iMovie tries to find the appropriate photo library - it can get lost if iPhoto direct it into a Library on a not connected external hard disk or to a strange location - And iMovie HANGS.
Do - When no other program is running that might interfere
• Start iPhoto - BUT NOW KEEP alt-key (option key) DOWN during the full Start-Up process
• Now iPhoto let's You select Photo Library
• Select the one in Your Account / Home folder / Pictures ! !
• Then iPhoto should start up OK
• Now Quit iPhoto
• START iMovie
Does it still hangs - then I would suspect - iMovie Pref. file
If it Run's OK - Then HURRAY !

I have windows 7 and have tried the troubleshooting steps but am still unable to connect to the itunes store yet my PC is connected to the internet, it just keeps looking like its trying to access the store
I have the same problem but the solution Wendyz99 did has not been successful for me. Part of the itunes store loads on the right side where the tabs for Quick Links and Top Charts are but the center section of the page is white. Also if I click on a song that is in the top chart area it will take me to the page but I'm not able to purchase the song or preview the song.
I feel I have tried all the solutions I can find on line and even had conversations with apple tech with no help.
I have down loaded the Autoruns program and in the winstock providers I have Bonjour and Microsoft Windows Live ID Namespace Provider. I have removed Windows Live and this still does not resolve the problem. I am at a complete loss. I am running windows 7, 32bit. Someone please help! -
Apple tv3 runs slowly on all apps in the box,after the last update.Picture sometimes run's slowly on netflix ,and all the apps in the apple tv3 box.But the sound is ok.Anyone else have this problem?I have a 20Mbit wireless line,but i had put a cable from my router to my apple box,but it did not help.
Are you using a home network?
Try the following :
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on the router
- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings -
My interface -- buttons (back, forward, reload), firefox tab, groups, etc. -- does not look like the sample on your "firefox features" page. ("Groups" seems not to function at all.) I'm running the current firefox 4 download on Windows XP. Can you help?

Thank you for your swift reply. I don't know that this has helped me, as I've reached my level of tolerance for fooling with this annoying little problem - for today anyway. It has been going on since I "up" graded to Firefox 4. My wife is running 3.6.x on her laptop with none of this foolishness. As BLASPHEMOUS as it may sound, I've gone back to IE for the time being even though I don't like it 1000th as much as I do Firefox.
Not just to rant here, I would say that I found a way to put some buttons on the right side of the toolbar that immediately gave me permission to "back, forward, and reload", but upon closing the browser and going out for dinner with the wife, I find on return that not only are those buttons NOT still on the toolbar, but I can't find them anymore. I think they were in "add-ons" found under I believe Add-On Manager.
I did also manage to achieve back/forward functionality running Firefox in SAFE mode, but this meant no No-Script, among other things, and I've grown too fond of that particular little script to give it up.
I've rebooted, restored, and reinstalled, can't get this formerly completely reliable program to work like it always has. Before looking around on here, I was beginning to think it was my PC.

i updated my 4s yesterday, but my phone will not work at all now, and will not turn off. It has a itunes image on the screen with an arrow underneath and what looks like the charger lead. i've had it on charge! is there anything else i can do?
Cconnect it to your computer with the latest version of iTunes installed.

Some pictures in I-Photo seem to be corrupted. When I click on them, they come up for a second, then turn black with a white circle in the middle and what looks like an explanation mark. There does not seem to be any rhyme or reason to the photos that are a problem, some older ones, some newer, some albums have none, some albums have a lot.

Marktime to time (when I have a chance), I will go to Finder, bring up ALL Images and start going through them to label them (before I put a label on them, they are simply listed as 123 jpg, 124 jpg etc.).
You're damaging the Library doing that, and that's the cause of your problem.
Never, ever, ever use the All Images search and work on items in yoyr iPhoto Library. They must only be accessed via the iPhoto window.
Restroe from abck up or try rebuild the Library:
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
Next: You need to learn how to use iPhoto. There's no need to be dragging things to the desktop:
