Upgrading to Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99. To access the App Store you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later installed.

How can I find Lion to download it to my Mac Book? It has Snow Leopard and 4GB RAM but it the white plastic model and is not compatible with Mountain Lion. I have been told by the Genius Bar that it will handle Lion.
That underpowered model is better left on 10.6.8 for performance reasons, also the fact that it's dated and 10.7 will likely require you to buy alll new software to replace the PPC based software your currently using.
If you insist, then call Apple via phone and they will sell you 10.7 Lion and provide a link to download it.
My 2¢ is to save up for a new machine, as that one is about to kick the bucket, they only last about 4.5 years or so depending upon use/enviroment.
If your having problems with 10.6.8, perhaps some of the links here can assist, 10.6 is faster than 10.7 in fresh install tests.

I am somewhat new to apple products. I am from the U.S. and currently studying in the Czech Republic.
I have an itouch with an apple ID, but lately I can't get it to charge or work. After pluggin the usb recharge cable to the computer at my universities facility, it gives a black page with a picture of the cable and the arrow pointing to itunes logo. The school's computer labs don't have i tunes or anything like that.
I also just got an iphone 4S and have been trying to set up and i can't seem to complete the process for the itunes so i can install the apps i had in the itouch and also to get new apps. It stops me and says to contact the itunes for support right after the input of address and phone number information, etc...
The purchase was made in the czech republic from a vodafone store, but if i remember right i configured it to US settings so I don't have to deal so much with everything showing up in Czech.
I tried getting help by going to the support, but after putting in my name, email, phone number for scheduling a call with them it rejects the phone number because i am putting in my czech phone number. Putting in my previous US number would be useless because I am not in the US and that number is probably inactive.
I would to get some English speaking support while being here in the czech republic.
Any advice?

What are you getting on the projector? Does it say 'no input detected'? Are you getting the spiral galaxy wallpaper?

I upgraded from my
mac pro power pc, G5 ( running leopard 10.5.8 combo update)

an Intel iMac Running Lion,
after failing to move my data with migration assist, then target disk mode - i phoned Apple - which said id need an external drive.
I used time machine to copy my user data from my G5. However Lion will not recognize the external drive.
Ive been at this for a few days and anxious to expedite the move, mostly photos, and media files.
If Re-formatting is the only way.....is there a way to do so without another day of re-copying by firewire.
The external drive is a Ciel Lx , recomended to me by apple.
Any one else making the move from power to intel? Havent found much posted recently.So we know more about it...

hello paisley157, this error might be caused by security programs such as zone alarm - please temporarily disable those programs for the following procedure:
*download the full firefox setup file from getfirefox.com
*uninstall firefox on the machine (but don't chose to delete your custom files & settings in the uninstaller!)
*manually delete all remaining files in the firefox program folder, which usually resides in ''C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\''
*reinstall firefox -
Can I do a clean install of Lion, onto my Mac Book Pro4,1, that is currently running 10.5.8? I have seen U-tube videos on how to do a clean install to Snow Leopard, and another from SL to Lion, but can zero out my HD, and do a clean install to Lion?

Trying to upgrade to Lion on my 20" iMac that I bought in Nov. 2007. Currently I'm running on MAC OS X version 10.6.8. When I tried to buy the upgrade I got a response that Lion requires 2 GB of memory and I only have 1 GB. How can I get more memory and will my computer be compatible with Lion when I do get more memory?
Yes you can install more RAM. Up to 6 GBs. Two - 200-pin PC2-5300 (667MHz) DDR2 SO-DIMMs. For the maximum use one 4 GB and one 2 GB. Otherwise install a pair of 2 GB modules for a total of 4 GBs.
You can purchase suitable RAM at DataMem or OWC. OWC also has video tutorials on installation. -
I have an aluminium Macbook Pro 15" from around 2009 currently running 10.5.8. Apparently I need to be on 10.7.2 to get into iCloud. And I can only run 10.7.2 on a Core 2 Duo machine or above? System Profiler says my machine is Core Duo, but also says it has 2 cores - can I run 10.7.2 on this machine? Any feedback welcome.

I am trying to create a virtual engine within a timed while loop and am unable to get the loop to run at a speed of less than 1ms (I am currently using the Wait(ms) function). This does not however allow realistic engine speeds. How can I overcome this? I have access to a PCI-MIO-16E-4 board.

Andy,
Unless you use a real time platform, getting extactly 1 ms loop rate
(or even less) is impossible. It starts getting troublesome at about
0.1 Hz for standard operating systems.
I'd tackle your problem with "if i mod 10 == 0 then sleep 1 ms".
Of
course this is jerky by design.

Currently running OS 10.6.8. If I update to Mountain Lion will Photoshop CS6 and Lightroom 4 still work?
Can't say anything about Lightroom, but Adobe officially supports CS6 all the way through Mountain Lion.

Mavericks is a free upgrade at the App Store. Go to the App Store, sign in with your Apple ID and look for Mavericks in the Purchases section. It will be free.
