I`m getting a saffire pro 40,and want to know what and how to turn anything I dont`t need to have running on my 2011 Macbook Pro
I plan to do some simple live recording ( 6 or 7 simultaneous tracks,and possibly add a few more later ) I want to keep my machine running smooth with the least amount of competition for resources while recording. Any tips and info on what and how to turn off what I don`t need? Or am I getting ahead of myself here?...Just read the manual, fire it up and see what happens?...hmmm, I think I`ll take any help I can get! in System Preferences make sure FileVault is off, i'd turn off AirPort, and make sure Energy Saver is set to it's least restrictive settings (like not allowing the hard drive to sleep)

that is probably the only stumbling block i can see. if you run into an issue where the drive isn't fast enough for the number of Audio tracks with which you wish to work, you can buy a FireWire hard drive to solve it (and shopping around they can be had for under $100 [a lot less if you're willing to "roll-your-own"])

Im new to Mac and wanted to know what is the easiest way to transfer files from a mac computer and mac extenal hardrive to windowns and vice versa?
For small amount of files, a regular USB stick or drive, it's already formatted with a MBR and FAT32 most likely which works both on PC's and Mac's.
External drives if you need more space.
However FAT (or Fat32 or MSDOS) has a 4GB file size limit. So if your transfering files bigger than that then you need to format it exFAT on the Windows machine.
Vista and Win 7 can do this, Windows XP one can download a free exFAT upgrade from Microsoft.
Mac's can read/write the MBR and FAT/exFAT (10.6.5 and later) formats, it's best to format it on the Windows machine, even though the Mac can format it too, it's better to do it on Windows then take it to the Mac to confirm.

Once I've done that how do I find the music on the cloud on my phone/ipad?Go to Settings > General > Usage, select Music, then Edit. There will be a delete option there. It may take a few minutes to delete if you have a large collection on your iPhone.

I recently purchased a Mac Book Air and wanted to know what would be the best external hard drive to buy as far as the brand and GB or TB are concerned? I will basically just be storing music, papers, and a lot of pictures. Also, how should I go about charging my computer? Should I wait until it is close to dying and then charge it?
I have had good success with HGST and Seagate HDDs. I suggest a HDD that is powered by the MBA eliminating the need for an AC cord. They now come up to 1.5 TB in capacity. In my opinion, one cannot have too much storage. If necessary, let your bank account be your guide.

I have a 13'' Late 2011 Macbook Pro that is making a loud noise anyone else having this problem?

My 8X beats audio was just updated and wanted to know what was fixed?
I have had some issues with beats, for example i'll play some music with earphones in and the volume will be a lot lower then it usually is. And to temporarily fix this I take a screenshot which makes it louder again. Weird. But, does anyone know what the update released today fix? It didn't say while I was updating. Thanks!
Wow Lizneedshelp. That's certainly a strange quirk to your beats. The last software, version 1532.20.20102.605, included some great improvements to the SIM recognition, Skype audio, battery life, and device freezing troubles. It doesn't appear that the trouble you're having is very widespread. Did this start before the most recent update or after? Does the trouble only seem to occur when you play music through a specific application? Have you tried rebooting the phone and SIM http://vz.to/10gVtKd to help refresh the device?

I was using a site to download music and when I clicked "download" I got a new window that opened up and it was a virus. I closed everything as quickly as I could, not really reading any of the pop ups that I was trying to close. So I have no idea what I did when I was closing everything. I did a scan using a virus scanner app in the app store and it came back clean but I still am not sure? It would be great to get some feedback to see what I can do further to check and make sure my mac doesn't have a virus...
It's not a virus. It's a JavaScript scam that only affects your web browser, and only temporarily.
Some of those scam pages can be dismissed very easily. Press command-W to close the tab or window. A huge box will pop up. Press the return key and both the box and the page will close. If that doesn't happen, continue.
From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
and uncheck the box marked Enable JavaScript. Leave the preferences dialog open.
Close the malicious window or tab.
Re-enable JavaScript and close the preferences dialog.
If the Preferences menu item is grayed out, quit Safari. Force quit if necessary. Relaunch it by holding down the shift key and clicking its icon in the Dock. From the menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
to get rid of any cookies or other data left by the server. Open your Downloads folder and delete anything you don't recognize. -
I loaded some music CDs onto my PC. Can I move them from PC to my IPad 2? If so how? I loaded the CDs into ITunes on PC and when synced with IPad I saw them on the IPad, but once the PC was disconnected here seems to be no music on my IPad. How or canons move music ? Other than hat u purchase? can editing be done onIPad if music is moved there? IE deleting songs from list?
Do not look at the library on the left. You want to use the iTunes window on the right - after you select the iPad. This illustrates how to select the iPad. In this screenshot I marked it iPod but it works the same way for the iPad.
Click on the iPad's name on the left side of the iTunes window - under devices - in order to select your iPad.
Then click on the Music Tab in the window on the right side
Find the songs in the music section
Click on the boxes next to the songs - or click on the album or playlist that the songs are in
Make sure that the Sync Music heading is selected at the top of the tab
Click on Apply in the lower right corner.

I noticed that since Macbooks.. macs in general use an EFI instead of BIOS. . .. Now i need to allocate some more RAM for the onboard video card since its currently running with an estimated 50mb.. I would like to increase this to 512 and cut the 3.95 down to 3.5 MB for the rest of the system ( allowing me to run more graphic intensive games and the such ... ) I know this could slow down the entire system.. ( i am aware of this ) and have gotten a 3rd party application to control and close out uneeded processes during gaming.. I just need more ram for my onboard video card.. Any help?
You don't allocate more RAM towards your video card, you put more RAM into the machine and hopefully some machines will bump the CPU graphics RAM allocation up a little.
The problem is you bought a integrated only graphics computer, if you want to 3D game you need a dedicated graphics computer with it's own or dedicated VRAM.
If your this serious about 3D gaming, your on the wrong platform.
Get a Windows 7 64bit i7 8GB RAM expandable 3D gaming tower with a good power supply and video card upgrade path, this way every few years you buy and stick in a new video card to play the latest games.
Mac's are not gaming machines and never will be because they would last too long if we could upgrade them.

The easiest option would to purchase a backup hard drive and store your data there. Hard drives are getting cheaper all the time, and all you have to do is drag and drop. Lots of good choices here, but I've had good luck with the super-reliable G Drive and the Seagate Freeagent Go.
When it comes to transferring the DVD, there are some legal ambiguities to address. Strictly speaking, by strict application of copyright law, it's even illegal to copy content you own. In short, if you purchased a DVD, it can't be copied. However, "fair use" is often used to justify copying content - movies or software - that you've paid for already. That means you'll have to "rip" the DVD. Since powers at Apple are likely to object to fair use arguments, you'd best to investigate the details on your own.

I am building a much more robust machine for my work and I don't want to run into problems while trying to get up and running with the new machine. If I can make sure that there are no snags with the move of the CS6 from one machine to the next (deactivating it on the old machine and re-activating it on the new.

Deactivating is all you need to do on the old computer. No need to uninstall unless you really want to. -

I do have a Portege International Converter Set, and Music Power Duet Ipod wall charger. So if anyone knows if that would be ok to use together with my Ipod in Spain without causing a fire that would be great.
Kudos to you for planning so far ahead. Yes, your charger will absolutely work just fine if you get the right adapter so the plug will fit in the wall. And charging it from your computer with the USB cable will always work, too.
