Back up all data before making any changes. Please take each of the following steps until the problem is resolved.
Step 1
If Adobe Reader or Acrobat is installed, and the problem is just that you can't print or save PDF's displayed in Safari, you may be able to do so by moving the cursor to the the bottom edge of the page, somewhere near the middle. A black toolbar should appear under the cursor. Click the printer or disk icon.
Step 2
There should be a setting in its preferences of the Adobe application such as Display PDF in Browser. I don't use those applications myself, so I can't be more precise. Deselect that setting, if it's selected.
Step 3
If you get a message such as ""Adobe Reader blocked for this website," then from the Safari menu bar, select
          Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
and check the box marked
          Allow Plug-ins
Then click
          Manage Website Settings...
and make any required changes to the security settings for the Adobe PDF plugin.
Step 4
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
/Library/Internet Plug-ins
In the Finder, select
          Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens by pressing command-V, then press return.
From the folder that opens, move to the Trash any items that have "Adobe" or “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari.
Step 5
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it, if it's present. The same goes for a plugin called "iGetter," and perhaps others—I don't have a complete list. Don't remove Silverlight if you use the "Netflix" video-streaming service.
Step 6
Do as in Step 4 with this line:
~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari.

AppleWorks is a very old application and requires Rosetta to run under recent systems.
Lion does not include Rosetta.

I've found in Pdf's many time when you go to Optimize a PDF and look at the font list there are often up to a 1/2dozen copies of a given font, say Helvetica, then that many Helvetica Bold, or Arial or Ariel Italic
What I do ie remove from list all but one copy of each different font. often dramatically reduces the size. also something lese is Flattening images will in some cases reduce a file size. I have run into a case where it actually made a PDF Larger.

I'm new to this forum by 2 min. and I have been using Flash for a while, but I'm now working at a place that has brought up issues while using images in our E-learning Flash Projects.
The Problem:
1.We have our Flash course open in a new browser window with NO tool bars to optimize size.
2.The Flash content is scaled to fit the screen - Amlost 97% or more of all graphics are Vector.
3. We are running into a project that needs to use screenshot .jpgs and we can not get large images from the client.
4. The .jpgs are being Scaled with the interface and all the FLASH, this is making the client unhappy, and the Jpgs look HORRIBLE, Jaggy.
Solution: - PLEASE HELP!
1. I have searched for days to fix this since we have to keep the whole Flash interface scaling to maximize the Screen area (I don't agree with this but it is the requirements)
2. Does anyone KNOW how to make images/jpgs stay a fixed size even while the Flash .swf that the images are in is being scaled?
3. Any ideas or suggestions are welcome! - I have been searching about HTML and or CSS in Flash and I'm getting lost, not sure if it's possible. Also I have been exploring dynamically loaded .jpgs in Flash. Does an FLV scale when using media components?

you'll need to code that yourself by detecting the scaling used when you go fullscreen (or full browser), and rescale the images (which will need to be converted to movieclips).
or you could enable the smoothing of your images so their anti-aliased when they're scaled.

My Galaxy S4 continues to crash, have no cell signal or internet signal since the last update. Can someone please help? I didn't have this problem until this last update and it is really aggravating!

Since this last update, something has happened to not only my phone, but to my daughters phone as well. We are constantly having to restart our phone and have no cell coverage or internet access in places we used to have no problems at all. This is very aggravating and I am ready to ditch the phone for something else! Please help!

I have a S3 and this is driving me crazy. I have taken the battery out (left out for 2 hours in dark place inside original box, SIM card out, hard reset, soft reset, and anything else I could think of including going back to factory settings.
My phone will turn off in the middle of something I am doing. No matter what it is. I still get signal and am able to talk to people. But I use my phone for work and it is starting to get annoying when you have to re-start the email you were typing because your phone turned off and a draft was not saved.
This is my replacement phone that I got back in March/April of this year. I have an otter box for it and had no problems with the other phone until I dropped it (no otter box).
Not to mention my battery will say its like at 80% in the middle of taking a picture and then it wont turn on until I have connected to a charger because it wont turn on without it because from the time I wanted to take the picture to when I turn it on, I lost 75% of my battery.
Or if I get lucky and it will turn on, I have lost half of my battery charge no what percentage it is.
Please help me fix this as I need a working phone and it is not great having to carry a portable charger with me at all times.

hi! right, I am a java dunce. I am doing a web design degree at uni and annoyingly have to take a programming module. I just don't get it one bit and the lecturer is a sadist and won't help. I have tried countless books and what not but it all goes over my head.... to the problem
We were given some code for a "guess the number" game. it generates a random number between 1 and 1000. You then have to guess the number. If you guess higher it should output "you ned to guess higher" and visa versa. Also if you enter 0 it should exit the program (which it does)
The code had logical and syntax erros in it most of which I think I have managed to find but it still does not work and I have been at this for hours now (even my headache has a headache)
It compiles now but when you enter a number the program just spits out the line "Enter your guess, from 1 to 1000 inclusive (0 to quit):" again but doesn't tell you if you should go higher or lower.
I can only get it to spit out the "you need to guess lower" line if you enter a number above 1000 which is wrong.
please please help me. Just point me in the right direction or something but please use novice language or I think I might have to go jump of the nearest peir.

If Excel works as do other apps, you should be able to tap and hold on the attachment and then select "Open in Excel" in the window that will open. Note that you need to be subscribed to and signed into Office 365 to be able to edit documents in Microsoft's apps.

which is just empting the DB of an value - not leaving zeros.

If the database field is declared as a timestamp then you can't put all zeroes in it. That's what null values are for in database columns.
If the query has to ignore nulls then just put something like "AND timeofday NOT NULL" in your query.

if puchased separately. Take your iPhone and the cords to your local

I've already right-clicked on the application, clicked "get info", and changed it so all people listed in the "Sharing & Permissions" section have the "read & write" privilage.
The error message is referring to your iTunes library, not your iTunes application.
You need to check and fix the permissions of the iTunes folder in your iTunes library. This is by default located in your "Music" folder.
Select the folder Music > iTunes in the Finder, right click on it or Ctrl Click and click "Get Info". At the bottom of the contextual window thatwill pop up, disclose the Sharing and Permissions brick, change your status from Read only to Read & Write. You may need to click the padlock icon to make changes.
