I'm new to FCPX and Compressor 4. My HD video looks terrible when uploaded to YouTube and are no longer 720 or 1080p HD. Are there codes or a secret handshake to have my HD video remain HD on youtube. All help appreciated.

I have been editing in FCP X 10.0.6 and have had success with that on my Mac Book Pro Retina. But when I go to compress the 1 minute video detined for YouTube inputing that I wish for it to remain in HD (720 and or 1080p) via Compressor 4, the video compresses and I upload it to youtube via their uploader and when the video is played back it looks aweful. Needless to say it is no longer HD and very blurry. Is there any help you can give me with step by step codes to follow to ensure my 1 minute video is viewable in HD? I sure would appreciate it. Thanks a million Russ for you time and input. I have recompressed my project several times and that aspect has worked a charm. But I seem to come unstuck when I upload my compressed video to youtube only. All the presets seem fine and I have done it using either ProRes or Youtube/Vimeo HD options. I have just left them on my desktop and uploaded to youtube via their uploader from there after sucessfully compressing them with Compressor 4. Yet, there seems to be no improvement in the picture quality. Mind you the sound is fine. I will get busy with some screenshots if you still think they would be handy. Many thanks again for your consideration. I really had hoped it was as simple as a secret handshake too. Darn. LOL -RR

Quality: Best
Dimensions: 721x540
The DVD's look great when played on the computer, but horrible when played on my television through my DVD player (the pixelate and stripe, particularly when there is lots of movement)
Should I be using a different compression?

Hello John,
I've a couple of different workflows depending on what I want and which version you're running (and on what machine) but generally this is the process. It is recommended that you export your timeline as QT movie even if you use Compressor (and not send to Compressor from within FCE/FCP) because it has the nasty habit of re-rendering your timeline,which adds to the already long encoding times of Compressor 2 and later. If your mac is not very powerful, you can let DVDSP do the encoding - the encoder is based on Compressor, but seems to be a bit faster.
What is not recommended is that, for example, you export your DV PAL timeline using QT Conversion with the exact same settings as in your sequence ... QT will re-encode the sequence (rather than just writing the file) and the outcome usually is flawed. Any other conversion (e.g. h.264) I'd run through compressor - that is if you have the time and want high quality.

Have you tried using Quicktime Player 7?
Mac OS X 10.6 includes QuickTime versions 10.0 and 7.6.3. The QuickTime 7 player will only be present if a QuickTime Pro key was present at the time of installation, or if specified as part of a custom install, or individually downloaded.

Snow Leopard update 10.6.4 included an update to 7.6.6 (if installed). You can install it from the above link even though it says for 10.6.3. It's the same version of QuickTime Player 7.6.6.
Only QuickTime Player 7.6.3 or 7.6.6 can be updated to "Pro".

My usb hub, being usb2, was too fast. I moved the wire to a usb port directory on my pc. That is a usb1 port which is slow enough to run your snyc.

Do you place the ipod in the dock during the night? I did this once and the other day the battery was almost empty because it kept on playing after it rested in the dock.

I recently took it into the Genius Bar and they could not find anything wrong. They told me to add more memory, which I did. However, the problem persists. Do you know why my computer would freeze up after the screen has had no activity for just a few minutes? My screen saver is set for an hour so I know this is not the problem.

What kind of documents? Office? iWork? Text Edit? What version?
What settings do you have in regards to power saver and/or screen saver?
For these kinds of system glitches I always recommend installing and running Onyx 'Automation'. If that does not work you should reinstall the offending software, if possible.

Unless your iMac is still covered by AppleCare, get an external DVD burner.
You can get perfectly good ones from Amazon for less than $40.

To be more precise: I am talking about the logging-in within the System Preferences on my iMac.
When trying to log in with the old ID, I get no access, i.e. it says "Try again"...-Trying the same with the new one gives me the result I mentioned in my first question...
Now I found out how to do it: I had to erase all accounts-then I could sign in with my Apple-ID. Thanks again.

No. All imports go into a new Event. How many new events are created is determined by what you set in iPhoto's General preference pane in regards to how Events are autosplit during import:

ITunes Match crashes when uploading final songs and artwork

For some strange reason, everytime iTunes Match tries to run its course it crashes when uploading final songs and artwork. As a result I now have tons of albums with tracks showing "Waiting" and are not able to being played in any of my other devices such as iPhone 5 and Mac Mini, they're just showed greyed out.
What could be causing this weird problem. BTW I'm stil using iTunes 10.7 since I didn't like the 11 one.

There may be a faulty track that is preventing match process to complete.
Do you have any large files waiting to be uploaded? What format are the songs "waiting" to be uploaded? You may need to delete those files from library but not moving to trash. If match completes the process, you can then start adding the songs a few at a time.
