I'M (not) SEEING RED!  Color Sync issues w/ Pixma 4000

For some reason the magenta is really off on my printer (canon pixma 4000). Regardless if I print something on Photoshop, iPhoto 5, or Google Maps (Double True), the red hue is a faded hue, almost orange.
All my inks are full and have been installed correctly; I've checked. I'm using Kodak photo glossy and matte paper. I even print it to "photo quality", but not avail. Basically all paper, even with standard office paper the results are the same. Even when I print with the "Color Sync" option checked, the results are the same. I even reinstalled the driver.
Could it be my color sync from the monitor to the printer is off? How do I get these two to cooperate better? My monitor is a 15" Apple Studio Display with display profile set to 1.8 Gamma, D65 neutral white.
Any suggestions are appriciated.
Thanks!

I am having the same problem with red, and I have an epson R300. Can't seem to find any solution.

  • Photoshop not seeing export color space setting in Lightroom 4

MY LR or PS programs are not acting as expected.
When my Lightroom 4 is set to export to Photoshop in either the sRGB color space or the AdobeRGB color space, and Photoshop is set for the sRGB space, Photoshop gives a color mismatch error in both cases, saying the image is an AdobeRGB embedded image.  However, if the color space in PS is set for AdobeRGB, even if the export setting in Lightroom is sRGB, there is no mismatch error.
Apparently, PS sees every image as embedded with AdobeRGB.
I have a Sony NEX6 camera.  I have taken pictures in the camera sRGB color space and the AdobeRGB space, which I used for this test. Since I shoot in RAW, this should not matter, so I don’t think it is the issue, and, in fact, I get the same result no matter which color space the camera is in.
If LR export and PS color space are the same, why should there be a mismatch, and why is PS not seeing the sRGB space?  Might there be a setting in Lightroom or Photoshop that I am missing?

I am, however, trying to decide on the right color space to use, which is how I noticed this problem. I rarely make prints of my photos.  I make bluray movies using Proshow Producer.  I recently got a new monitor and Samsung LED HDTV, and found that my photo videos did not display right and I am trying to find out why.  I found the normal viewing settings of the TV have too much color and sharpness, so I established another group of settings for photos, which helped.  However, I am still not satisfied.
These are two separate but related issues.
    1) It's almost impossible to get accurate Color and Luminance level rendering inside LR if you don't use a hardware monitor calibrator to adjust your computer monitor.
    2) LCD TV's use settings to "enhance" color, brightness, and contrast that is usually very, very inacuuarte. But this is what most non-photography people seem to like so TV manufacturers crank up the "default settings." I also have an older 52" Samsung TV (LN-T5265F) that I've manually adjusted for more accurate color. Try using the 'Movie' mode, which is the most accurate mode and turn the Backlight setting down. Here are the settings I use with my Samsung TV. I assume your Samsung TV's controls are similar:

So it occurred to me that some colors might be wrong, or too saturated, because I am not seeing them on my monitor as they will appear on the HDTV.  I am thinking that since sRGB is my final color space, I would try to do everything in the sRGB space, including setting my monitor to sRGB (I have a Dell 2413 which supports adobeRGB too).  I was inn the process of trying this when I found the issue at hand.  Might you have any thoughts about this color space choice
If you have a wide-gamut monitor you are better off using it in Adobe RGB mode with a monitor calibrator. But then the monitor will not look correct in non-color managed applications:
    http://www.gballard.net/photoshop/srgb_wide_gamut.html
You can circumvent this issue by using your monitor in sRGB mode, but I'd still suggest you use a hardware monitor calibrator. Either way it is imortatnt that you have a proper monitor profile assigned in Windows or OS X Color Management. The monitor manufacturer provides these, but they don't always work well with LR for numerous reasons.
To insure the best image quality you should do all of your editing in PS using 16 bit TIFF with ProPhoto RGB profile format until you are ready to Export. For use with ProShow you can use TIFFs or JPEGs, but use sRGB color profile to avoid any color management issue. JPEGs are fine and a LR Quality higher than 80 (10 in PS) is a waste of disk space for slideshow images.
In short you've got a lot of "variables" between the uncalibrated monitor and out-of-the-box non-adjusted TV. The former requires a good hardware calibrator aad the latter a good "eye" to adjust it.

  • Send to - Final Cut Pro XML data not seeing my Color render

    Sup folks,
As always I did some lurking on these boards and consulted the manual about this issue.
    Nada.
I've rendered my shots. They were all queued. They were all rendered.
When I use the Send to -> Final Cut Pro command I get the "not all your clips were rendered" warning. I click yes to see what I will get.
FCP imports the XML data and I get nothing. All of the clips in my FCP timeline generated through the Send to -> Final Cut Pro command are all of my original media prior to my color workflow. Not my graded Color renders.
I did move my renders from a local drive to an external because of data capacity. After doing so I did update my Media, Render and Project paths to the new location of my media.
I thought that would fix my problem. It didnt.
So again: my issue is that even with my shots all rendered correctly (i checked them in QT) the XML being sent to FCP through the Send to -> Final Cut Pro command is not hooking up with my renders.
    Deadline tomorrow.
    As always,thanks for your time

I did move my renders from a local drive to an external because of data capacity. After doing so I did >update my Media, Render and Project paths to the new location of my media.
If I'm following the sequence correctly, you rendered your material to a local drive. Then you moved it, changed the paths (in COLOR), and then tried to "Send to... FCP". Is this correct? If so, doomed to failure. In your case, you may have even moved an empty folder.
There is an ironclad and non-negotiable series of events in rendering and initiating the roundtrip. Many users regard this as a "bug". One of the first things that a user should always do is set up all the target paths before even doing the first grade. But it is essential that the target render path be set up PRIOR to loading the Render Queue. COLOR creates the receiving folder at that time, and that is where the media will go no matter what you do after the RenderQueue is loaded. Change the path, change the format... change whatever you want... the deal has been done, and all will be ignored. However, once the media is rendered and you choose Send To... FCP, then the original XML that FCP sent will be modified by COLOR and passed back to Final Cut. COLOR does NOT,repeat, NOT generate EDLs, XMLs, or any of that stuff. It only modifies original lists. That you modified the Media, Render and Project paths (probably only in the User Preferences tab) is meaningless once the project has been rendered. The Render path for this individual project is determined in the Project Settings pane, along with the render dimensions and format. However, COLOR will observe a path change AFTER the render, and edits the XML re-export to try to find the media in the newly named directory. Of course, your media is actually elsewhere, and you get a blank sequence.
Lastly, make sure that you SAVE the project after renders, to retain the "rendered" clip status -- or COLOR won't remember any of this.

  • I just downloaded ITunes 11.1.1.11, and do not see function to sync with my IPhone 4 v6.*  Where is the feature hiding in ITunes update?

As stated in the title, I installed ITunes 11.1.1.11 yesterday.
I endeavored to synk my Iphone 4 today to update calendars and addressbook, but did not see in ITunes any function to accomplish this, as it did not initiate automatically, as in the old system.
I decline to upgrade to the IOS 7 at this time, and regret at the moment upgrading to Itunes 11......
Does anyone have a clue how to engage the Iphone sync feature in Itunes 11...., as I am disinclined to pay the turds at Apple 19.95 for a consultation that should not be necessary.
    Thanks for your assistance.

  • Outlook 2013 Sync issue forler has 4000 emails

    Dear All,
we have recently migrated users to exchange online. there was a user who has a large mailbox (11GB approx.) the migration has completed successfully but user's sync folder has more than 4000 objects as duplicated.
any idea on this is highly appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi,
Conflicts folder contains all the multiple copies of conflicting items between what are in your local cache (OST) and your mailbox on the server.
An InfoBar at the top of the original item advises you that a conflict for this item exists.
The conflicting item is stored in the Conflicts folder. Clicking the InfoBar will bring up a list of conflicting items and allow you to resolve the conflict by determining which item you want to keep.
If you still need the items which are listed in the Conflicts folder, verify if they still exist in your mailbox and also exist on the server by using OWA.
If they doesn’t exist in your mailbox, you’ll need to move these items to a folder to check if the changes get uploaded now. If you can see these items in the mailbox, you can just cleanup the folder.
In addition, Outlook 2013 contains an improvement as of the April 2014 hotfix to prevent these errors from being saved in the Sync Issues folder, you may install the hotfix to improve the functionality.

  • In the new firefox 4, how do you know if the synching is happening? I understand it is automatic, but it was autmatic before. now I do not see the littel syncing icon anywhere on the page? where is that icon or another way to know if it is sycning?

in Firefox 4, is there an icon that shows that the browser is synching like there were in previous versions? i like to know that it is synching. Thanks!

    hi guys. thanks.
also thanks for the reminder to boot to the drive to test it. i have not been doing this which is probably an error.
OK, so i have another post about creating a "folder with a name that is todays date". i would really like to see something inside the backup that i can verify very quickly with. i mean, i think i am realizing that all other methods are too indirect for me and that if i can get a visual on this with such a folder it would do me a lot of good.
i mean, one problem i am having with the alerts (as much as i like them) is that i am backing up multiple times on site and i also run some off site. so i get a lot of alerts and i like them. however, if i have a drive in hand and i plug it in it would be good to know quickly what the date of the backup is. say i take one of my externals from my desktop to the coffee shop with my laptop.
it sure would be nice to know what the current backup date is...
    TIA

  • IPhoto 9.4.1 does not solve all sync issues

The 9.4.1 update does not solve all the sync issues.
It may have fixed the duplicate Events that you can see in iTunes when syncing to an iDevice, but it has not resolved the duplicate Faces.
I still have many duplicate Faces showing, even though in iPhoto the Faces are only there once.......

    Try the following:
1 - open the library package with the Finder as follows:
2  - Find the AlbumData.xml file and move it to the Desktop.
3 - close the package and launch iPhoto.
See if the above will get rid of the bogus events.

  • "Top Contacts" sync issue

Hi! I would like to report an issue in "Top Contacts" Android app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sonyericsson.androidapp.smart
I don't know where I should report, so I decided to do it here
The problem is that contact sync is broken. It tells "Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly", but this message is there for a very long time. If you read comments on app's page in Play Market you will see that I'm not alone affected with sync issues
Is there a chance to fix it? Is it server-side problem or is it user-side? Anyway, I really love that widget and I want to use it, but contacts in it are not updated
    Did someone solved this?

I will forward this to concerned developer. Hopefully it will be fixed soon.

  • Sync Issues (Audio / Video)

Like many others, apparently, I've spent untold hours putting together a ~50 minute project in iMovie '09, only to find that after exporting to iDVD, I lose sync. It's frustrating, but I've seen from this and other forums that it happens, and is related to using source material that is not 16 bit audio. In this case, my sources include horrible camera phone video, some video out of point and shoot still cameras, decent DV footage, and some high def out of a Canon 5D Mark II. So fair enough, but some questions about how to get out of this jam :
    1. If I go through the clips in the project and look at them in Finder, or QT, or VLC, I can sometimes tell whether they are 16 bit, 8 bit, or whatever. But sometimes it just doesn't say. So I'd be grateful to learn how to tell for sure.
    2. Once I've figured out which clips are not 16 bit, how can I make them so? Can I open those clips in QuickTime or VLC, for example, and export them out in another format that will not cause the audio sync issue? Is Garage Band of any help here?
    3. Once I've turned everything into 16 bit audio, will it be sufficient to replace the offending events in the Event Library and then in the Project, or is that Project now irretrievably tainted with the other audio forms?
    4. Is there a better way than what I'm suggesting in 2 and 3, above? For example, can/should I copy parts of the project into new projects, export them out in certain formats (which ones?) and then try to reassemble those exports into yet another new project in iMovie?
    5. I do not have iMovie '06, and do not have access to it. But if I did, what would I do with it to make this better?
I do have Final Cut Express, but I don't really have the stomach (or more importantly, the time) for rebuilding this project from scratch. But if you tell me that's the only way out, I guess I'd do it.
Many thanks in advance for your help.

In case anyone comes across this in the future, I've resolved my issue, and it had nothing to do with audio bit rates. In short, there seems to be a well-documented yet unfixed but in which an export from iMovie can lose sync if there are either slow-motion effects applied to a clip, or if the slow-motion speed is custom rather than pre-set by the software.
I changed my clips to 100% and everything exported fine, with no sync issues. For more on this, see the helpful thread here: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=10618532#10618532

  • Vimeo Sync Issues

Hi does anyone have a solution for uploading to Vimeo an not having the Vimeo encoder push the video 1 frame late relative to the audio? When I import the encoded video (from vimeo) back into Premiere the whole video is a frame longer and a frame out of sync.
And it's quite noticeable when playing back on the web.
I export in accordance with their guidelines.
This is what I got from Vimeo, they claim it's a problem with Premiere, but I don't know...any solutions or info would be much appreciated!!
    "Hi there,
The issue at play here is a discrepancy between how Premiere both exports and imports MP4 video.
I imported both versions of your source file (MP4 and MOV) into Final Cut Pro 7, along with their resulting Vimeo encoded files. You can see the results in these screenshots:
    MP4 source / Vimeo encode: http://i.imgur.com/39QMlcL.png
In this screenshot, the source file (262107860.mp4) appears to be one frame shorter than the encoded file (262112575.mp4). That’s because the missing frame is a single empty video frame (containing no video content) that Premiere has truncated from your source file during export. During Vimeo’s conversion, however, that empty frame is not truncated, but padded to maintain audio/video sync (according to the timestamps reported in the MP4 file). We’re essentially “fixing” what Premiere broke during export.
MOV source / Vimeo encode: http://i.imgur.com/LdaiYJa.png
Here, the source file (276326486.mp4) and the encoded file (276330923.mp4) are identical in terms of number of frames and in video/audio sync. This is because Premiere’s MOV export is not faulty, and it does not truncate the empty frame. This means the Vimeo and Premiere versions are identical.
You probably see different results when comparing the files in Premiere. That’s because Premiere interprets some MP4 files incorrectly. If you use another editing program (such as Final Cut), you will not see those same discrepancies. We’ve heard from engineers at other video hosting sites who have also encountered these issues with Premiere’s MP4 handling.
In short, any frame offsets you may notice in Premiere are not responsible for any sync issues!

It's all gobblede gook to me. I had not realized that the Sync issue folder was on my computer but it is and it has nearly 6000 sync issues in it since we started using the exchange back in December.

    Hi,
For your highlight part, This issue occurs if the Outlook client computer is configured to use proxy settings when Windows Internet Explorer is used. However, the IP address of the Exchange 2007 Client Access Server (CAS) server is not in the exclusion list.
To resolve this issue, follow these steps:
1.Start Internet Explorer, click Tools, and then click Internet Options.
2.On the Connections tab, click LAN settings.
3.Click to select the Bypass proxy server for local addresses check box, and then click Advanced.
4.Type the FQDN of the Exchange 2007 CAS server, and then click OK.
    5.Restart Outlook.

  • Missing red color in adobe RGB

I shoot raw with Nikon Camera. I am having a problem with getting red color in photoshop. . For nef files, I open them in Capture NX2 and then save as jpg in Photoshop.  The jpg image was opened in Photoshop CS5 with a color setting of sRGB, beatiful red color is seen on the screen. When the same.file was opened in in Photoshop CS5 with a color setting of AdobeRGB ("aRBG"). the red color turned into orange color.
As shown here,  the only difference in color is red hue between sRBG and aRGB.  This is not an isolated case.  All of my pictures look like that.  When printed on Canon i9900 inkjet printer under "Photosbhop Manages Colors setting, red color comes out in orange color.  But printing under Printer Manges Colors" setting, they came to be close to red color.   I do not understand why aRBG does not produce red color.  Could someone explain to me why?
PS: I could not upload two pictures (sRBG and aRBG).  It seems that inserting image was disabled.

These statements are vague or functionally incomplete.  For example, are you saving your JPEGs with a color profile embedded?  When you choose "Photoshop Manages Colors", what profile is set for the printer?
Do you have a basic understanding of color-management?
The kinds of color shifts you're describing can occur if you are assigning a profile different than the one the RGB values are encoded in, or viewing an image encoded in Adobe RGB with a non-color-managed application.
The document color profile needs to match the profile used to encode the RGB values, and the application needs to interpret the color profiles of both the document and the output device for the color to be displayed or printed properly.
May I recommend going out and seeking some primers on basic color management online.  Keep in mind a lot of what's published is sometimes misleading or downright inaccurate, because a lot of people have trouble understanding color management at first.  Try to avoid advice that says "set it like this", but seek the information that describes how color management actually works, so that you can get your mind around it and make your own informed decisions how to set things up.

  • Why do Encore CS5 and Premiere Pro CS5 have intermittant Sync issues?

I am noticing that Encore CS5 is "buggy" regarding sync issues with material edited by Womble and Corel Video Studio and I am guessing other programs as well?
In high definition I take AVCHD and  edit in Corel Video Studio.  If I leave the project as one single 42 minute segment and import this asset into Encore CS5, more often than not there are bad sync issues.  To get around this I have to divide the 42 minute project into approximately 6 smaller ones- Each smaller asset ends where I had done the editing.  Encore does not have any problems now with these 6 smaller assets.
In standard definition I edit in Womble and export as a MPEG2 Program.  Sometimes Encore has a problem with the asset sync and sometimes it does not.  (I am guessing about 20% of my assets end up with a problem).  The same asset if brought into TMP or brought back into Womble does not have any sync issue.  If brought into Premiere Pro CS5 it will exhibit the same behavior as Encore- If Encore has a sync problem, so will Premiere Pro.  So to get around this I then have to go back to the original womble file and break it up into smaller pieces, at every edit point I cut and export the smaller file just after the end of the transition I applied.  With a 6 hour project I may end up with dozens of small files to get around this problem- not very efficient.
Any ideas how to fix this or why Encore is so buggy?  Would moving the original assets around in Womble- example taking something that was at the end of the timeline and then moving it to the beginning cause these issues for Encore?   Or is there some other cause?
    Encore CS5
    Premiere Pro CS5
    Windows 7 64 BIT
    Quad core
    2.4 GHZ clock speed
    6GB memory
150 GB free space on drive
    NVIDIA GEFORCE 8500 card

I've used VideoReDo in the past, which I believe has some similar strategies to Womble.  I found when I tested streams, that there were often problems in the source streams, and that the fix was not 100 percent.
You may also find such files that are not 100 percent the same length video to audio.
In any event, the possibility other than Encore being buggy is that the files you are bringing in have problems when Encore tries to validate them.  I'm not saying Encore doesn't have its problems, but clean mpeg files do not have sync issues ordinarily.
For some scenarios, I like your workflow (edit mpeg files in a frame accurate mpeg editor that is not retranscoding the whole file), but the results are often not consistent.
You don't say, and I would certainly look at, the nature of the audio stream you are using.  I can not tell you what the problems are, but some streams just do not edit well, even though they may play back okay in some players, but still have issues in Encore and/or Premiere.
