I am sure I acan't be the first to have hit his barrier but when enrolling as a developer and going through to the checkout there is a mandatory charge of VAT on the subscription. All very well if I am a UK business but in this case I am working with a company that falls outside the EU and tax regulations (Alderney, Channel Islands) and all research tells me that I should NOT be paying tax at source. Furthermore, when calling Apple support I was given conlicting information with the worst saying 'just pay it now and claim back later'/ No Problem with that apart form Apple making it clea ron the webste that they won't do such a thing. http://store.apple.com/uk/help/payments

ThanksI think you will find - if your Apple account and bank/CC details are considered to be registered in the UK - the all online money shifting to and from the UK are subject to VAT @ 20%.
I think this started with eBay and became applicable to all online "commercial" transactions.
IF your account is UK based, you will have needed an iBAN number from your bank... this is for APPLE who will send any earning you have from your products - to be transferred to your bank. Its an anti money laundering thing!
Keith is correct, Apple dont care about your none USA tax situation, if money was deducted from your earnings from Apple, then you need to contact your tax & vat office for advice.
VAT tends to be redunded after a claim form is submitted, if you are not registered... BUT you will need to include your Apple earnings into your tax return.
There have been some changes and its 5 tears since I quit the gloomy UK for the Aussie sun! But all the banking stuff above is what I have encountered cos my Apple IDs and bank are in UK. -

I accepted/installed an update for iMovie and it turns out that this version is not compatible with my graphics card. So now I can no longer open or use iMovie. Any ideas on how to get around this - how to revert to the previous version??
Look in your Applications folder. If your system behaved as expected, you should have an iMovie 9.0 folder in your Applications folder. Apple moved the old version there as even they suspected the new versions was a train wreck.

Why can't I open and retrieve my files from iPhoto and my Address Book after importing the files from my Power Mac G5 to my new Mac Pro? I get a warning that says the new OS on my Pro doesn't open files from a Power Mac. Any idea how I can fix this?
For your addressbook, export the files to vCard on the PowerMac, then bring them over to your Mac Pro. For your iPhoto, copy the Users -> yourname -> Pictures folder to your Desktop on the Mac Pro, and open iPhoto on the Mac Pro holding the command and option keys. Select the library file from that Pictures folder and open it. It should import all the pictures into iPhoto as part of the rebuild process. Usually if you have some kind of hardware failure there is some beeping during POST or most motherboards now have LED indicators to produce and error message based on the type of failure
So if its bad memory, not place properly, mismatched, processor not inserted properly, mismatched voltage or voltage connector not present etc it beeps or generates the error id.
Power supplies can be tested for failure. There are some walk throughs for testing just them with a switch, paperclip or a jumper (I'd suggest not doing this if you are not familiar with the dangers of electricity).
Memory can be tested with memory diagnostics programs like Memtest+
Processors can overheat if the proper precautions have not been taken usually you will get a POST beep or error code for that.
If the motherboard has no response then do the basics first:
Check power connectors and power supply. Once you determine that is not the case move on to other items like graphics cards in all the way or memory. -

Sound changes when moving mp3 from quicktime to itunes
