I'm trying to register for an iCloud account with my apple ID but it's telling me it needs to be an email address. I try and amend my username so it's the same as my email address but nothing happens! HELP?!
Hi - I'm trying to register for an iCloud account (I've just had a baby and am terrified I'm going to lose all my photos of him!) but when I try and register, it tells me it needs an email address so I go to edit my username and try and amend it so my email address and username are the same thing but nothing is happening. I keep going round in circles - can someone help?!

If the old ID is yours, and if it is an earlier version of your current ID, go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID. Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change. Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address. You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll. When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud). Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was. Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

I am having serious issues trying to alter my old iCloud account with an old non-functioning email to my new apple id with a new email address. The message keeps coming up on all my apple products with my old email (which is not available anymore).
I have the same problem - it is maddening. I rely on this iPad for work so this is not just an annoyance! The above solutions of changing the appleid on the device or on the website do not work.
The old email address no longer exists - I haven't used it in a year probably and I no longer have the account. I logged into the appleid website and there is no trace of the old email address so there is nothing that can be deleted or changed there. On the iPad there is no trace of the old email address so nothing can be deleted there either. I have updated the iPad software and the same problem comes right back. Every 2 seconds I am asked to log in using the old non-existent email. The device is currently useless.
The only recent change to anything was the addition of an Apple TV device, which was set up using the correct login and password.
Does anyone have any ideas? The iPad has been backed up to the iCloud so presumably it now won't recognize the current iCloud account? So restoring may notbe an option? -
How do you pay for your icloud account with an itunes card ?
I don't have a credit card on file because I don't want my kids using it or accidentally using it. I always buy itunes cards for this reason. I refuse to put a credit card on file for this reason. I hope Apple thinks about this and puts this in consideration. I don't understand why I can't put a itunes card on file just like a credit card?

what is wrong with my headphone jack? i have an ipod touch 4th generation ipod touch every pair of headphones and earbuds i plug in it has the same sound going to both sides.
- Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
- Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.

Multiple iCloud accounts with one Apple ID?
We have 4 iOS devices in our household (2 iPhones, 2 iPads). We share the same Apple ID. Can we have more than 1 iCloud account with one Apple ID?
We do not want to share our Calendars and Reminders.
Thanks!Set up your mac.com account again on devices. Turn off Mail and other data syncing with this account on your wife's devices for data that you want to keep separate. Then set up a second ("secondary") iCloud account on your wife's devices to sync Mail.
If you already set up a separate iCloud account on your wife's devices, on her devices go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, then sign back in your your mac.com ID. Turn on the data you want to share with this account across all devices; don't turn Mail on. Then go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Add Account>iCloud and enter her separate iCloud credentials and turn Mail to On.
The only downside to this approach is that her email will be fetch, not push email. Push email is only supported in the main ("primary") account, not a secondary account.
The limitations to be aware of with secondary accounts are that only the primary account can be used for Photo Stream, Bookmarks, Documents, iCloud Backup and Find My Device. Also, push mail only works for the primary account; secondary account mail is fetch. -
How to create 2 icloud accounts with one apple id
I would like to find out how to create 2 iCloud accounts using the same apple id. Currently, my husband's iphone4S and my iPhone 4 have merged contacts which we don't want, and when he texts it shows that it is from me.
You can't do that. One of you will have to create a new icloud account with a new ID and connect the device to it.
TO GET DATA FROM ONE ACCOUNT TO A NEW ACCOUNT:
When connected to the account you want to GET data from, Go to Settings>iCloud and turn all data that is syncing with iCloud (contacts, calendars, etc.) to Off.
When prompted choose to keep the data on the iPhone.
After everything is turned off, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account. Next, set up a new iCloud account using a different Apple ID and turn iCloud data syncing for contacts, etc. back to On. When prompted, choose Merge. This will upload the data to this new account.
Note that this only affects the "Apple data" like contacts, calendars, reminders, etc. Many third party apps also use iCloud to store data files there. These files may be lost in the process, unless the apps also keep the data locally on the device.
NOTE: Photos in the photo stream (if you use it) will not transfer to the new account. It is advised that you save the photos to a computer before performing the account switch.
CREATING A NEW ID:
Each user should have their own icloud account, otherwise they end up getting the same emails, contacts, calendars, notes, reminders, etc. - usually not what you want. But if all have been sharing the same itunes ID, keep it that way, you can have different IDs for itunes and icloud.
If you already have another icloud account, and want to set it up on a device, then go to Settings>icloud, scroll to bottom of screen and tap Delete Account. This only disconnects the device from that account, no data is lost on icloud. Then enter the account ID that you want to use.

I need to allign my icloud account with my apple id account
As a new iphone user I set up the icloud account with an email account that I shouldn't have. Then I found that I had an old appleid account, and I used another email. Now I discover a problem, when I try to log in with a pc using itunes and the icloud control panel. I try to use the apple id, and it errors as it tries to log in to icloud services (because of having used another email address in the first step above).
Now, the problem is, how to correct this? I can log into apple id management, but I can't log in to icloud on the pc. On the iphone, I see it is still using the old email. Should I delete the whole icloud account from the iphone (which uses the wrong email and password)? Would that allow me to set up icloud on the iphone again, using the correct apple id email account?
Or is there some better way? I just want to make the icloud account to use the correct email (same as apple id) but can't find an obvious way to do this.Answer found by calling a technician. I needed to delete the icloud account on the iphone, but the delete account was not visible to me at first. It was a control below the bottom of the screen in the general preference>icloud page. Once I scrolled down to it, I saw the delete account button. After deleting the account, I had the option to remake it with the correct email.
Still, it was interesting to assess the responsiveness of this community. -
My Ipad won't let me in when I try and slide to unlock it ...the message is Not Enough Storage...but I can't get in to put more storage on it
Settings > iTunes & App Stores > tap your Apple ID: > View Apple ID > Country/Region
If you find that it is set to the correct region, log out of your iTunes Store account, restart your iPad, and sign into your account again.

trying to set up my new ipad 3, my first Apple product. trying to use Gmail account and it insists that user name or password is in correct. It is not my username on Google is the same as my email. Please advise.

I have an iPhone 4 and a 4th gen iPod linked to the same email address and apple ID. I am trying to change the email address on the iPod so a family member can use it but when I do it says it doesn't recognize the email address. Where am I going wrong ? I just want them to be able to iMessage and email without having to use my email address.
The procedure is Settings>Messages>Send & Receive at>You can be reached by iMessages at>Add another email address. The email address has to be a valid working email address, obviously. Apple should verify the email address and you have to go to the inbox of that email account, read the verification email from Apple and follow the inductions in the email in order to complete the verification. Then you go back to the settings, uncheck your email address and check the new email address to be used as the contact email address.

I registered the the wrong information for my iCloud account--I misspelled the account name. I accidentally spelled blackberry instead of blackbird. How can I change this?
If you don't want to use an alias you'll have to create a new account as you cannot change the @icloud.com address once created. You'll have to create a new ID, verify the ID, then use the ID to create the new account, and migrate your iCloud data to the new account.
If you are currently syncing data with iCloud, begin by saving any photo stream photos to your camera roll as mentioned above. If you are syncing Notes with iCloud, you'll also need to open each of them and email them to yourself so they can be recreated in the new account. Finally, if you are syncing any iWork documents with iCloud, turn off iCloud syncing in your iWork app settings.
Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, and choose Keep on My iPhone when prompted. Then in Settings>iCloud tap Get a Free Apple ID at the bottom, set up your new ID, verify the email address you use to create it by responding to Apple's verification email, then sign in with the new ID to create your new account. Turn on your iCloud sync settings and choose Merge when prompted to upload your data to the new account. When you turn Mail to On you will be prompted to create your new @icloud.com email address. Be carefull to type it correctly as it cannot later be changed. -
I just updated to 10.8.4 and my mail program is showing a series of boxes with AAAAs inside them instead of the email addresses. Also when on Safari web pages are displaying the same AAAAAs instead of type. Firefox displays fine. Can someone help me?
Restart your Mac and immediately hold down the Shift key when you hear the startup chime to boot into Safe Mode. Keep holding the Shift key until you see a progress bar towards the bottom of the screen. You can let go of the Shift key at that point.
OS X asks you to log in (you will get this screen on a Safe Mode boot even if your Mac is set to automatically log in). Let the Mac finish booting to the desktop and then restart normally. This will clear Font Book's database and the cache files of the user account you logged into in Safe Mode.
Next, close all running applications. From an administrator account, open the Terminal app and enter the following command. You can also copy/paste it from here into the Terminal window:
sudo atsutil databases -remove
Terminal will then ask for your admin password. As you type, it will not show anything, so be sure to enter it correctly.
This removes all font cache files. Both for the system and the current user font cache files. After running the command, close Terminal and immediately restart your Mac. -

Settings>iCloud...scroll down...delete account. Then setup iCloud with your new ID.
You can't change the Apple ID for your iCloud account, you have to delete it.
