Yes, the Old Master file has a folder for each year where I find all photos from that specific year. I am attaching a screen shot of the file.
In the meantime i have managed to download all photos (it did not download any video files though in mpg, avi, 3gp, m4v,mp4 and mov format) to a new iphoto library. Unfortunately the photos are quite mixed and often doubled up. I ma considering to purchase iphoto library which checks all duplicates in iphoto. this will save me a lot of time. What do you think?

My macbook air is already full - I transfered everything from my desktop as soon as I got home with my new laptop. As it is already full, I would like to put all my pictures and all my music on a external hard drive. I am unsure how to do that. I've 'slide' the file to the external hard drive, but now, my computer is bizarre. If I'm in iphoto, I can see photos, but they then dissapear, etc. It's just bizarre and I feel this is not normal.
To transfer your music to an external drive see this knowledgebase article from Apple. For iPhoto, see this article. This is doable but the downsides are (1) you can only use iTunes or iPhoto when you are connected to your external drive. If you forget and launch the program without the drive connected you'll see nothing. Even worse, if you aren't careful (2) you might forget and download photos or music while the external drive isn't connected and then you have a mess.

Can I download music and pictures from 2 different MacBooks onto one external hard drive?
I have looked around for the community, but have not found an answer here. Both my wife and I have 2 seperate MacBooks, but we wanted to put all of my pictures and music and all of her music and pictures onto one external hard drive. I read on another board that we can, but only if we purchase a Mini. Is it possible to do that without having to purchase a Mini? Or is purchasing a Mini the only way to be able to do that? There is no reason that you cannot use a common external HDD for your communal data. Naturally you would have to disconnect it from one MBP and then connect it to the other when you wish to access the data or perform a download.
Any compatible external HDD will do, but make certain that you format it in Disk Utility to Mac OS Extended (Journaled).

1. Start Image Capture on your MacBook. It may be in LaunchPad under "Other" or you can start it via Spotlight (Command + space bar).
2. Connect your phone to the MacBook. If iPhoto starts automatically, quit iPhoto.
3. At the bottom of the Image Capture window where it says Import To, select Other and then navigate to your external drive. -

Nope, though it did allow me to get some missing songs back onto my iPod. That's something. But neither "Back in Black" or "Dirty Deeds" show up anywhere on the Touch. Could this be because iTunes has no deal with AC/DC?
Quite frankly, at this point, I'd really rather not have the "ease of use" of iCloud attached to the iPod. It's not like I change my playlists that much. It would just be nice to get what I want onto my MP3 player. Not sure which one it was: iCloud, Music Match or the Air Port but the only real result of all the $ I plunked down is seeing all of my Wife's 231 Christmas songs popping up on my laptop. Really don't want them here. She SURE AS **** is sick of seeing all of my stuff on her computer.

I had a fcp events folder on an external drive and moved it to the trash. I then emptied the trash but I now need that project back. Is this possibe at all!
As far as you are concerned the answer is most likely "NO".
Theoretically it is possible to retrieve trashed items assuming you have the technical expertise and equipment of the FBI or if you purchase expensive retrieval software.
Unless the project is of immense financial value it is probably best just to redo it. -

You are in a very dangerous situation and you need to fix it now.
OS X needs about 10 gigs of hard drive space for normal OS operations - things like virtual memory, temporary files and so on.
Without this space your Mac will slow down as the OS hunts for space on the disk, files will be fragmented, also slowing things down, apps will crash and the risk of data corruption - that is damage to your files, photos, music - increases exponentially.
Your first priority is to make more space on that HD. Nothing else can be done until you do.
Purchase an external HD and move your Photos and Music to it. Both iPhoto and iTunes can run perfectly well with the Library on an external disk. -
I have a few wedding projects(1-2 hours)I am trying to export at full hd quality,than burn in idvd. After rendering for 8hrs I receive error code that states "file is too big". Please help? compressing tips without losing quality? or any other exporting alternatives?

Thank you for the tip on exporting by media browser (large) from imovie. But of course, if it's not one thing it's another. Now that I figured how to export a large file from imovie, I have an idvd issue. I followed the instructions for burning from idvd and changing the encoding to professional quality and the burn speed to x4, but I am receiving an error that states the following,
Your project exceeds the maximum content duration. To burn your DVD, change the encoder setting in the Project Info window.
Project:
- total project duration: 79:04 minutes
- total project capacity: 4.327 GB (max. available: 4.172 GB)
Menus:
- number of menus in project: 1 menus
- total menu duration: 0:39 minutes
- total menu capacity: 37.370 MB
Movies:
- total movies duration: 78:25 minutes
- total movies capacity: 4.291 GB
I have searched in the idvd forum for similar issues and I am stumped at this point. I have tried deleting the encoding assets and re launching idvd with the changed preferences, and still the same error. I know you mentioned something about free hard drive space available, and I have very little left. 4GB to be exact due to massive hours of non-edited footage. I am not sure if this is why, but I do not recall ever needing free space to burn memory onto a separate dvd. I would be more than happy if I am wrong, and it would be a quick fix. Otherwise, the technical nightmare continues. It's all a learning process and your expertise is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance. -
I tried to update my OS (Mountain lion) to mavericks, but i can't seem to download. There's a 'an error has occurred' in red beside the free upgrade bar.. what should i do?
It's possible something has become corrupted in your AppStore cache folder. I had the same problem that occurred after I did a partial download, paused it, and attempted to restart it again later. Here's how I fixed my problem:
Enable AppStore Debug menu:
1. Quit AppStore completely.
2. Run Terminal and enter the following on the command line: defaults write com.apple.appstore ShowDebugMenu -bool true
3. Restart the AppStore. You should see a new menu called "Debug".
Clear the download cache:
4. In AppStore, select Debug menu / Show Download Folder
5. Quit AppStore completely, but leave download folder open
6. In the download folder, select all files/folders, then delete them.
7. Restart AppStore. You may need to sign in to your Apple account again.
You may need to restart your computer to be able to delete the files from the trash.
You can then try the download again. -

Connected to WiFi? No Firewalls in operation? Have at least 50MB's of free space on your phone? Have enough space in iCloud...Settings>iCloud>Storage/Backup>Manage Storage>Select your phone.

I just tried to download a free sample of a magazine and received a message saying I need to free up space. The app is newsstand supported and I subscribe to 2 other magazines with a sum total of 3 issues. What am I doing wrong here. Do I need to add more memory space allotted to newsstand, and if so, how? The GB size of the download file is the compressed size (like .zip or .dmg). When the file is installed/uncompressed it can be 2-3 times larger.
How much space is Other using? You may be able to reduce.

You can remove the storage-hogging application and all of its data directly from this screen, or manually remove the data by opening the app. Some applications, especially those designed by Apple, will allow you to remove stored data by swiping from left to right on the item to reveal a Delete button.
