I-Mac G4 to TV (connection)

I just inherited a Imac G4 and I want to connect it to my TV using HDMI. It looks like I need a DVI to HDMI, and the cable I bought looks right, but doesn't seem to fit. What cable to I need?
This is the one I originally bought:

Hi.
The iMac G4 had either a mini-VGA video output port, or a VGA output port... and also maybe s-video.
You will have to start with that and see if you can find an adapter to HDMI.
To determine exactly which iMac G4 you have, plug your machine serial number into Apple's Support page. It will get you to the specs page for that machine.

Yes it is done through iTunes. The iPhone will never show up in Finder as a device. • Why can't I connect to my shared computers for file sharing;I have 3 Macs and I can connect the other 2 but not my new Macbook air.

I have a black Macbook 4,1 running 10.7.5, an iMac 11,3 running 10.7.5 and a new Macbook Air 6,2 running 10.9.5., I have file sharing turned on on all machines. All machines are visible and I can connect all machines except for the Macbook Air. The Macbook air can see the other 2 Macs but does not connect to either of them or even give me the option to connect as a guest or a registered user. The other Macs connect to the Macbook Air but it will not connect with them. Any help is appreciated. Thank You.

My early 2009 Mac Pro does not connect via bluetooth to my sound bar or bluetooth mini speakers. Both my wireless keyboard and mouse have no problems connecting. What do I need to do to connect to external bluetooth devices?

I would always have a wired keyboard and mouse on hand (need not be expensive ... any cheap wired devices will work).  "Emergency recovery" procedures can activate features in random order, so the opportunity to select a recovery partition may pass before the wireless devices are recognized.
That will let you select the "turn on Bluetooth" icon.

  • Mac/iPhoto trying to connect to an old server that no longer exists

    I have a MacBook Air, running OS X 10.7.5
Because I was running out of space and set up an AFP connection to a NAS.  The NAS is now dead and gone, but in certain situations the Mac tries to connect
    1. In MS Office, if I have the ClipArt/Shape/etc browser open, it tries to connect to the server - is a PITA but I can live with it
    2. In iPhoto, it constantly tries to connect, particularly if I am using the slideshow feature - Has rendered iPhoto unusable.
The iPhoto situation is that I perhaps foolishly connected to a photo folder on the NAS share and iPhoto imported a bunch of pictures from there.  Now that the server is offline, it constantly looks for them and tells me that it can't connect.
I can still see the thumbnails but obviously it cannot access the full files. I don't know exactly which folders are NAS pictures and which are not
I've found some similar topics but not a satisfactory answer.
How can I stop this message - how can I stop the Mac from trying to connect to a server that is never going to be there?

The location should be /Users/your name/Pictures. You can change this by holding down the option or alt key (the ones immediately to the left or right of the cmd keys either side of the spacebar) whilst clicking on the iPhoto application icon in your dock and making an informed choice from the options you see.
By default iPhoto creates an iPhoto Library (the folder where all your data in iPhoto is stored) in the /Users/your name/Pictures folder. It seems that in the past you must have selected an externally or network attached volume named TOSHIBA as the location for the iPhoto Library instead using the instructions I've given you. All you have to do is revert it back to the location you now want.

  • Mac keeps trying to connect to a server when opening excel

i worked for a week at a production house and they had me log into their server to access files that we all used.  obviously i forgot to eject their server before i left and instead just closed my computer and left.  now, since Lion makes all documents that were left open restore automatically my mac keeps trying to load a spreadsheet that i was reading off the server but obviously i'm not connected to said server anymore.  and i won't ever again.
how can i stop my mac from trying to connect to this server?  also, is there a way to stop Lion from auto restoring?
    thanks, all!

Well, I was hoping that if you remove all traces of recently opened documents to resume and you disable the resume, then Excel would not try any longer to connect to the server.
One more question: is Excel trying to reach the server when you start your system or when you launch Excel?
If it happens at start up, then have a look, if Excel has been added to the start up items (System preferences -> accounts -> your account -> start up items) and remove it.
Quit Excel (with Option + Command + Q) if it is open and remove the loginwindow preferences: Navigate to Library > Preferences > ByHost > com.apple.loginwindow.[xxxxxxxxx].plist
The [xxxxxxxx] represent some interminable string of numbers and letters.
If it happens at launch time, move the Excel preference file to the Desktop before you launch Excel. The file is locate here:
    /Users/your user name/Library/Preferences/com.microsoft.Excel.plist.
If you keep your Library hidden, as it is by default, go to the System preference folder from the Finder menu: Finder -> Go -> Go to Folder (Or shift-cmd-G) and enter
    "/Users/your user name/Library/Preferences"
    Good luck

  • I'm trying to clone a internal hard drive from another mac using a usb connection.

I'm trying to clone a internal hard drive from another mac using a usb connection to an external drive so that I don't lose the file before reinstalling the software but I keep on getting a message:
    "Restore Failure
Source volume is read-write and cannot be unmounted, so it can't be block copied."
Any advice on how to make a copy of this internal drive?
    Thanks!
....also the internal hard drive i am trying to copying run on a mac os x 10.5 and i'm reinstalling the software because the computer is not starting and only shows a grey folder with a question marks inside.

I've had my Maxtor external OneTouch 250GB for about 18 months now and it hasn't skipped a beat. I have hear of people having their Maxtor drive just up and die but you will probably find that goes for all manufacturers.
By the way, Maxtor is, amongst others, an OEM supplier to Apple.

  • Do you know how to keep my mac pro air to connect automatically to wifi

I have problem keeping my Mac pro air to connect automatically to wifi .

It depends on what your settings are set at.
Are you talking about to your own Network, or are you talking about recognising and connecting to Hot Spots.
Go up to the left of the date and you will see the Airport Icon single click it and it should give you the Networks that you are in range of, You connect by choosing the network you want to join. If you need more info be more specific what you need.

Can you connect iPad to Mac mini, Can you connect iPad to Mac mini?

Every Mac Mini has a USB port. Every Mac Mini can run iTunes. The only catch is that you need to be running Mac OS X 10.5.8 (Leopard) or later. So in general, yes, an iPad can connect to a Mac Mini.

  • Mac Client that can connect to Terminal Server Gateway

Anyone know of a Mac app that can connect to a remote computer via a Terminal Server Gateway?  The Windows version of MS Remote Desktop will do this but of course that is Windoz only.

You could try CoRD.  I don't know if it has the TS gateway option either, but it is an RDC client.

  • MYSTERY: 3 Macs in network: Cant connect all 3 at once !??

I have an Intel-based iMac 20" and two 2005 models G5 (a dual 2.0 and a dual 2.3) sharing the same DSL internet connection via 2 Ethernet hubs.
Each Mac is able to connect to the Internet - but not at the same time.
I can only have a max of 2 macs connected at any given time.
I can only connect with the two G5s or one G5 and the iMac at the same time.
Right now I cannot connect to anything with the dual 2.0 G5.
Even with direct cabing to the DSL modem and all other connections off.
I still havent figured out why one Mac can connnect, and another cant.
Perhaps the ISP (Internet service provider) has a limit to how many computers you can connnect to a network?
Or perhaps I have a setting on my machine(s) that limits the no of Macs I can connect?
I have restarted and reset the hubs, the modem...****, I even rebooted my dog. Nothing helps!
I am going bonkers over this, so please save me from the asylum.

What IP address do your Macs get when they're online?
If they're real-world IP addresses then, yes, this is a limit of how many connections your ISP provides.
If they're private-class addresses (like 192.168.x.x or 10.x.x.x) then you should be able to get more than two machines online.
I'm guessing the former. If that is the case then you need to get a NAT router that can take one of the IP addresses handed out by your ISP and share it amongst multiple client systems.

  • Mac mini not keeping connection with Cisco wireless access point

I am trying to get my wife's Mac Mini to keep it's connection with the wireless network at her school. They are using a Cisco access point (not sure of the model) which works fine with my G4 Powerbook and the numerous Macbooks being used there, but for some reason her Mac Mini drops the connection after 4 or 5 minutes, at which point she needs to log right off for it to reconnect (as opposed to just turning the card off and on again). I have already gone through the deletion of the Networkinterfaces.plist file, and recreation of the Airport card profile process, but this only kept the interface active for about 36 hours, then it was back to the same old problem. At this point I am thinking "flakey card"...before I ship it off to Apple, can anyone offer any other possible solutions?

After spending time on the phone with a Apple support technician, he indicated that the Iphone has a compatibility problem with the wep key encryption that the Cisco appliance uses. I find this disturbing being that Cisco is the biggest in network gear. What's UP Apple? We need SP1 for the IPHONE!!!
