I must have deleted DVD Player

Is there a way to install it, with out reinstalling Leopard?

If you do not want to use Pacifist, boot from your install disc. You may be able to "custom install" the DVD Player directly from the Applications or Bundled Software folder.

  • Accidently deleted dvd player, any way getting it back?

Hey, i have been deleting some of my applications to have more room for movies, tv shows..... and i deleted dvd player, i thought i would not need this for anything but i need it for dvds and i cant watch them. Any way i could get dvd player back?
    Thanks

If it's not on the 10.5 application disk, then reload the operating system. An alternative would be to use VLC. Download the 32 bit Intel version.

  • I ugraded to firefox 5 - and I deleted a few programs - I must have deleted the navagation tool bar. It shows up blank i.e. no place to type in a web address.

i was deleting a few programs in an effort to delete something that was attached to firefox - and extension.
I must have deleted the part of the navigation tool bar that show a blank space for one to type in a web address or copy and paste a web address.
When I right click at the top of the page I get the navagation tool bar - a space comes and goes with the clicking unclickin of that tool bar.
I have looked all over for that but can't find it.
    any help would be appreciated

    oops!
first, open up what you have left of the toolbar.
now, right click on it and choose 'customize'. You should see something called 'location' in the box that comes up. Click on it and drag it to where you want it on that tool bar. You can also click and drag around other items on that toolbar to replace them, or move them as needed. :)

  • I have a MacBook Pro OS X v.10.9.1 that doesn't seem to have a DVD player installed. Any thoughts on what app would be best?

I have a MacBook Pro that doesn't seem to have a DVD player installed. Any ideas on what would be best for viewing?

    Hi
I would try this - from Apple
To burn DVDs  - You know that they come in two versions ?
Data-DVDs - to store files (even movie files) onto - Can not be played on any Video-DVD-player.
Video-DVDs - as commersial movie DVDs
Data-DVDs - can be burned directly from DeskTop/Finder (but only one time/DVD - no incremental storage)
    Video-DVDs - needs a DVD-authoring program.
    • iDVD - is the best possibly for most of us (not avail. from Apple any more)
    • DVD Studio Pro - best ever made ? (not avail. from Apple any more)
    • Roxio Toast™ - I like (I got, I use - rather often)
    • Compressor - $50 from Apple
    • Free DVD Creator.app - free from Apple Store (very simple - Quality ?? not sure - looked problematic reg. Interlacing)
    • Burn - a free alternative from Internet. Very simple - Just for doing a plain Video-DVD
    Burn http://www.digital-digest.com/software/Burn.html
My old note on this - same same:
If there is no iDVD on Your Mac (and it's not on newer Macs as Apple discarded it) then You need a program that can do this.
Your Mac can burn CDs and DVDs - BUT DVD as Data-DVDs not as Video-DVDs - they need a program to be encoded and STRUCTURED as such.
iDVD is part of the boxed version of iLife'11 and can only be bought outside Apple as on Amazon and e-bay
DVD Studio pro - Part of FinalCut Studio Pro bundle - this to has expired and can only be bought second handed. (High price and tough learning Curve - but best ever done.)
Roxio Toast™ - Not as elegant as iDVD - but has many other positive additions (I like it as 10-Pro incl BD-component) (now version 11)
FinalCut Pro-X which also can burn to DVD but without any nice themes.
    AppleMan1958
You can also buy Compressor from Apple for $50 US. It will also create DVD and BluRay but without the nice themes.
    Free solutions:
Burn - a free alternative from Internet. Very simple - Just for doing a plain Video-DVD
    Burn http://www.digital-digest.com/software/Burn.html
Gives a fairly good resulting Video-DVD
Free DVD Creator.app - free from Apple Store
(very simple - Quality ?? not sure - looked problematic reg. Interlacing)

  • I have a Cisco/Linksys WRT-54G wireless router and 2 Airport Extremes (the small ones that plug directly into the wall). Is it possible to extend the network from the router using these two AEs? I have a DVD player and Ext HD plugged into the router too..

I have a Cisco/Linksys WRT-54G wireless router and 2 Airport Extremes (the small ones that plug directly into the wall). Is it possible to extend the network from the router using these two AEs? I have a DVD player and Ext HD plugged into the router too. Any ideas? I'm guessing the only way is to do what I've seen in these community pages which states that it can be done but it will drop the bandwidth by 50%. Thoughts?? Thanks!

The Cisco/Linksys WRT-54G was one of the very few routers said to be compatible with Apple's implementation of WDS (Wireless Distribution System) settings.
The info that I have on file indicates that only the WRT-54G versions 4 and under were compatible, so that would be one bridge to cross.
Even if you find that your Cisco/Linksys might be the right version, Apple never published instructions on how to configure the Express devices with other manufactures, so users were left to their own devices to try to figure out how to get things working. Apple's instructions to connect to other Apple devices are in the link below:
    WDS network
If you were hoping to use 2 Express devices in this type of configuration...even if it works...the bandwidth penalties will be extremely severe.
The first Express drops the bandwidth (and speed) on the entire network in half and the second halves everything again. So, the result, in effect would be a "g" wireless network running at 25% speed. Few users would consider installing this type of network.
At this point, it becomes one of those things where the fact that you might be able to do something does not mean that there would be much value in doing so. But, it is your decision to decide if you want to try to proceed.

  • Does my Mac have a DVD player?

Does my computer have a DVD player?

We just bought this 2 weeks ago and there is no opening for a DVD??
That is correct, in 2012 Apple ceased including a DVD drive in iMacs. There are external solutions, you can locate a USB external DVD drive that is compatible with OS X from multiple sources including Amazon and OWC (www.macsales.com). Apple also sells their own external DVD drive, in the USA online store the link is:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD564ZM/A/apple-usb-superdrive?fnode=5f
The price of Apple's is kind of expensive however it is designed to match the esthetics of Apple computers so it looks good.

  • Deleted DVD player

By accident i deleted my DVD Player from the application folder. Then i tried to reinstall it after downloading DVD Player 4.6 from the apple.com but it keeps on telling me that i have a newer version installed. I spotlighted everywhere and i couldnt find any files related to the DVD Player. Be grateful to figure out how to get it back.
    iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

As Niel points out you can either use Pacifist, and extract your Original DVD Player from the Original Install Disc's or you can download VLC.

Many users prefer VLC over the original player.

  • Anyone have a DVD player script for playing clips?

I'm new to Applescript and I'm trying to find or write a simple script for playing video clips in DVD Player in a row, so that I don't have to watch a clip, then minimize the play window, then select the next clip from the Go menu. I have four clips that I would like to play back to back. This doesn't seem like it would be too hard to do, but for the life of me, I can't figure it out.
Anyone have some advice (or a pre-written script) for a pathetic newbie?
    PowerBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

I think maybe I wasn't clear enough in my original question. These aren't clips that I have saved on my computer or clips that are on the DVD itself, they are just clips I set using DVD Player (using the New Video Clip command in the Control menu).
The problem is that the DVD has no chapter markings. The entire 82 minute film is one chapter. We have permission from the producer to show only segments of the film, so I created clips in DVD player of the parts I want to show. However, right now, I can only play them one at a time and then have to minimize the display area and go to the Go menu and select the next video clip. I have four named video clips set for the DVD. I would like to write a script that I could run that would play them all in a row.
I feel like I must just be missing something obvious.
It seems to be that the script should just be
    tell application "DVD player"
    activate
    play named video clip "background"
    play named video clip "Cizik"
    play named video clip "Durley"
    play named video clip "end"
    end tell
but that's not working. The clips show in the Video Clips window (if I go to the Go menu), so evidently the computer knows they're there, but basically nothing happens if I try to run that script except 1.852402768E+9 showing up in the Result window (I feel like I should know what that means, but of course I don't).
Is there some trick for directing it to the clips that I'm missing? Or some other command I need to put in first?

  • Deleting DVD Player Application?

    Hi
    I have a PowerMac 6.4 running OS X 10.4.11
The computer doesn't come with a DVD player, maybe it had an external one in the past. Anyhow when it boots now there is an error message about the DVD drive not initializing.
I'm guessing this comes from software, there are 2 DVD programs listed in Applications: DVD Player v4.6.5 and iDVD v6.0.4
Will deleting either application stop the error message popping up? Will it do this without affecting the CD_ROM drive that is fitted?
Is there another reason the initialization error could be generating (error code is -70020 iirc)?
It's not a huge problem but it's nicer to have clean operations.
    many thanks

DVD Player is listed in the Login Items window, but putting a tick in the Hide box doesn't get rid of the error message at startup, just hides it in the Dock
    CDs and DVDs :
insert a blank disc - ask what to do
              music CD - open iTunes
              picture CD - open iPhoto
video DVD - open DVD player
there is no disc in the CDROM drive when I startup.
If I put an audio disc in, iTunes starts - if I put a DVD disc in it just spits it back out.

Does the macbook pro have a built-in dvd player?

This is the only new MBP you can purchase with an integral DVD drive at this time:

A retina MBP will require an external DVD drive.
    Ciao.

  • My child must have deleted safari and the app store from my iPad 1. How do I restore them?

Safari and app store icons missing, child may have deleted them? How do I recover them?

You can't delete the preinstalled apps. Go to your Home screen and then swipe to the right to reveal the search screen Type in the app name and do a search.
Also, these apps may have been "Turned Off" by Restrictions. Go to Settings>General>Restrictions.
