I need a download or (cheap) installer disk

I got my mac second hand from a friend. About two months ago, it's already irritating problems got worse, and now firefox freezes constantly, I've lost access on it to multiple sites (including youtubes) and it's internet video playing is very much less then desirable when it attempt to play (and yes, my flash player is updated)
A technician told me most of my problems could be solved by re-installing the Operating System, and that I may be able to find a free download on apple.com (since I got it second hand, i don't have the installer disk). However, I've looked all over and haven't found it. I thought I had at one point, but it lead to a dead page.
The friend I got the mac from doesn't get along with me anymore, and has since then moved away, so I can't get it from her. Can anyone link me to a download or a place where I can buy a cheap installer disk for tiger (cheap being like, 15 bucks. seriously.)?
I've tried a few torrents too, but none of them worked right, and didn't install the OS either.
Please help.

Hi G4-Thoto, and a warm welcome to the forums!
Can anyone link me to a download or a place where I can buy a cheap installer disk for tiger (cheap being like, 15 bucks. seriously.)?
Highly unlikely, Tiger Install Disks are going for as much as $200 these days as they no longer make them.
At this point I think you should get Applejack...
http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/19596
After installing, Reboot holding down CMD+s, (+s), then when the DOS like prompt shows, type in...
applejack AUTO
Then let it do all 5 of it's things.
The 5 things it does are...
Correct any Disk problems.
Repair Permissions.
Clear out Cache Files.
Repair/check several plist files.
Dump the VM files for a fresh start.
At least if it doesn't fix it, it'll eliminate a few questions.
Then re-apply The combo update for PowerPC-based Macs...
http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/macosx10411comboupdateppc.html
The combo update for Intel-based Macs...
http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/macosx10411comboupdateintel.html
Repair Permissions before & after re-install, then reboot.

  • Need airport extreme card (and installation disk?) for OS X 10.2.4

So when I got my emac in 2003 it didn't come with an airport extreme card. but now I need to get online and am unable to hook up with a landline to our current, only wireless, router. I can't upgrade my OS X and spend tons of money for ram and the new card. So I'm looking for the card that would work with my version of OS X. Please give me any info or websites, I haven't had any luck myself!

LaurieP, Welcome to the discussion area!
The version of OS X installed has nothing to do with which card you need.
The original eMacs require the original AirPort card. That is the only card compatible with the internal slot.
Later eMacs require the AirPort Extreme card. That is the only card compatible with the internal slot.
You can determine which eMac you have by using KB 86325, eMac: How to locate the serial number and identify your model. The "eMac (ATI Graphics)", "eMac (USB 2.0)", and "eMac (2005)" all require the AirPort Extreme card.

  • CD installation disk download link not working

I'm trying to download the CD installation disk for the WRT400N.  The disk came with the router
but the glue on the label got on the disk and makes it almost unreadable.
Can someone check that link to see why the .iso file is only a couple of bits in size?  Should be @400mb.
    Thanks

Yes, it can be configured without the disk, I realize that.  This is my first experience with routers and wi-fi, so I would like a better copy of this disk I paid for.  But the link for that download does not work.  I was addressing that.
The disk I got had a dot of glue from the label on it and while it worked, it took almost half an hour to get it done.
Part of the disk is unreadable when I tried to copy it, so I want to download the .iso file to create a backup disk.
    That's it!

  • Need early 2006 iMac installation disks, which ones?

I need to know which SPECIFIC installation disks came with or are usable on a 2006 iMac. I wiped the computer before knowing my MacBook OS X Tiger disks wouldn't work on the iMac. So I either need to purchase new disks as the computer I inherited did not come with the disks or can anyone help me figure out how to get the OS back on the computer?

You can get replacement System Install & Restore CD/DVDs from Apple's Customer Support - in the US, (800) 767-2775 - for a nominal S&H fee. You'll need to have the model and/or serial number of your Mac available.
If you're not in the US, you may need to go through the regional Apple Store that serves your location to find the contact number. Here's a list of links to all of those - http://store.apple.com/Catalog/US/Images/intlstoreroutingpage.html Another resource:  International Support Phone #s.

  • Do not have installation disk...but recently got new hd...help

I have one of the first macbooks out in the US. It has 2g proc. 1gb ram and originally came with Mac OS X Tiger. 2 days ago I got the clunking sound from my hd when i started up, and then the ? and folder icon. I know my hd is pretty much done and have already bought a new hd. The problem is that I dont have my original installation disks (I am in australia and they are somewhere in storage back in the US).
My friend here has an installation disk but will not work. Wondering if i need to wait until someone can get to my storage and find the disks and send them to me, or I can some how work around this problem to a more immediate solution.
I also have a leopard installation disk back in the US which i would like to put back on also. Do I need to get the re-installation disk or can I use the leopard disk.
If anyone could help me out with some suggestions. Thanks

Thanks, for the info. Do you know if now with more software being downloaded, you think I could contact apple and they could give me some sort of code or let me download something onto a usb or external hd and boot from there. I mean my computer's serial number is registered to me. Thanks for the other help, anyone else know if this is possible?
Else, I will be waiting for my cds to be sent from the US.

  • Desperately need CS5 web premium installation disks (or download link)

Hi there, I need a little help.
My hard drive had to be reinstalled last week, and I don't have my disks for web premium cs5 and indesign 7.0
I don't have my installation disks, my brother got me the program, emailed me the serial numbers and I downloaded from the website. Now my brother is (seriously, no jokes) riding a pony across mongolia and the disks are nowhere to be found.
I just spent heaps of money to fix the computer, I'm definitely not going to spend heaps more to upgrade to a version I don't even want (have not heard good things about 5.5, going to wait until cs6). Do you know of any way to get my hands on a set of those installation disks? For windows for extra fun.
Thanks so much, looking forwarding to hearing from you!
    Jenn

I'm in a similar situation. In my case we had a sewer flood in the basement (where my office is) and the clean-up crew (running around in hazmat suits) were a bit overzealous tossing everything in the dumpster.
Adobe's scripted response: "We only keep copies of the current version." When I pointed out that several of Adobe's own License Agreements state that copies of DVDs are available for several years (i.e. of versions other than the current one) I was promised that they'd get back to me "within 2 or 3 business days". Several weeks later I finally received a reply; no replacement DVDs are available but I could upgrade to the latest version (at the regular upgrade cost)...
Given that some of the License Agreements state that replacement DVDs will be available for some time after the new version has been released contrary to Adobe's stock answer that such copies are never available, I wonder if it would help to contact the Attorney General in my state and/or whether there's ground for a class-action lawsuit?

  • I want to create an "up to date" installation disk from my own one. So after installing the system shouldn't need to download any update. Is that possible? If so, how? Thanks.

I know how to make an installation disk without things that I won't use and that can be burnt in a single layer DVD. But I want to make one that would be up to date with all the updates that have been released until now included.
Is that possible? How do I download the updates? How do y include them in the DVD? I would be great if I don't have to isntall them manually after installing the macosx.
I think there should be two ways of doing so:
1.- Include the updates in the DVD and execute them after the system installation.
2.- That the installation itself were up to date.
Can anyone help me? Thak you.

I don't believe it is. TimeCapsule restore would be limited to the same platform it was backed up from?
I think what the OP is after is the idea of slipstreamed DVD including Snow Leopard *&* the latest combo updates. In the Windows world this is referred to as a slipstreamed install.
For example you could have the latest build of SL plus the latest combo update slipstreamed in and this should work flexibly across a number of platforms.
Unfortunately though I don't know if it's possible with OSX. It's a real time-saver in the Windows world though if you have a number of machines to deploy or if you're constantly building/assembling VMs for example.

  • Lost installation disks - need download link

I had bought Adobe Photoshop and Premiere Elements 9 last year when I was living in Spain, and had registered it online. While relocating back to India, I lost the installation disks that I had. Since I did not buy it online from adobe website, I do not have a download link. Any idea if I can get a download link? Those products still appear registered.. Any help is appreciated!

If you bought those last year, it had to be recent versions, thus you should be able to find those in trial versions on Adobe's FTP ( somewhere below ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/ … ) , then enter your serial numbers so these trial versions become permanent, registered versions.

  • In my macbook pro retina 15 inch there is installed mavericks but ı want to create recovery disk and ı need to download mavericks from App Store but it doesn't download??

One way around tis is to borrow a Mac that can run Mavericks and then the download will work.  You can use these instructions:

Though they are for Mt. Lion, the same steps will work.

It would help if you would tell us which version. If it's PSE 12, just install the trial and enter your serial number into that.

  • Help - need Adobe Creative Suite 4 Web Premium Mac OS Installation Disk 2

    Hey there,
Hoping someone can help me out on here. I recently moved and purchased a new computer and went to reinstall CS4 only to find that I am missing installation disk 2. As Adobe no longer supports the media for this, they reccomended that I contact someon ont he Adobe Forums who might be able to assist.
Just need the Application Disk 2 for the Mac OS of CS4.
    Thanks!

Contact Adobe Technical Support. Installation problems for current versions of the suites and applications are resolved without charge. Despite the fact that 16MB of video memory is beneath stated requirements, it is unlikely that this particular shortcoming is what is causing your problems.
