I need a Windows XP Boot Disk CD

Hello,
I have a Satellite L35-S2151 Laptop and it will not load windows all the way as I get a blue screen "Unmountable Boot Volume".  I looked up the error message on Microsoft's website and I need to have a Windows XP CD to start up my machine.  My computer did not come with a Windows CD when I purchased it from Best Buy.  How can I order a Windows XP Reboot CD with Toshiba? I do not want to restore my computer to factory settings, I just want a reboot CD. Please help.
Thanks,
Noa

Unfortunately, you can't order a Win xp boot disk CD from Toshiba.  I had the same problem you have, unmountable boot volume, had no boot disc (thought the Toshiba recovery disc was a boot disc, but nooooo, it would reformat and erase all my files).  I was advised to burn a CD boot disc from various online download areas, but didn't have a working computer to do it on, nor could I borrow anybody's so I was stuck.  Microsoft only has floppies (6) that you can download for Win XP, but how many of us have floppy drives anymore? not me.  It sucks that Microsoft doesn't keep boot discs around for sale for WinXP users, it's not like WinXP is some ancient OS geez.  But unless you can burn your own boot CD (which isn't as easy as some people lead you to believe , I think sometimes it just doesn't work or is glitchy).  I tried everything to get my system to boot, including buying a Knoppix LIVE CD which I ordered online for $3.99 from a software place.  It didn't work either, but you could always try it for a cheap fix if it works for you.
I ended taking  out my old hard drive after trying various things with no success, buying a new hard drive , buying a hard drive enclosure to put the old drive in so I could transfer the files I want to save over to the new drive. I'm stuck at that point so far.   I hope you don't have to go all through that.  But I was basically told the best hope is to somehow burn or have someone burn for you a Win XP boot disc CD.  I presume by "disc" you mean CD and not floppy.  If you are looking for floppy boot discs as I said, you can download them onto 6 discs from Microsoft.  Good luck!

If the OS X 10.2 on the hard drive is/was bootable, try this -
Restart or boot, then immediately press the X key, keep it held down until you know the machine has started to boot using OS X. This is a hardware instruction to the Mac to boot using the first usable instance of OS X it finds.
Once booted to OS X, you should be able to move OS 9's System file into OS 9's System Folder.
Note - in general, unless you know for sure what you are doing and that the results are desired, do not relocate or rename files in OS 9's System Folder or in OS X's System or Library folders.

    Hi,
For normal computer, we only have Windows 85, 98, XP, Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8 and now Windows 8.1. Probably you need a recovery discs set for your machine. • Can't boot windows - select boot disk and computer goes to sleep

    I've got a Mac Pro 3,1
I've had windows 7 installed on an IDE hard drive in the CD bay.
Lately, I was getting BSODs, so I decided to reinstall - I reformatted the hard drive and I'm trying to move forward.
I haven't been able to boot any kind of windows installation disk!  USB, DVD, anything!
I select the boot disk on boot up (hold option, select the windows install) and the computer seems to boot (shows the bootcamp logo) then just goes black (like it's sleeping - monitors off, not an 'active black' screen)  There is no hard drive noise - this thing is basically off.
I've tried using rEFIt, using different USB drives, DVDs, everything.  I can get into rEFIt, select the boot disk - and it's the same problem.  Windows won't boot!
What gives?  I've had no luck looking online for this issue.  Some folks have a 'black screen' with an iMac - but this isn't a driver issue - the computer is not booting!

never mind, I changed the connection to a different usb port and problem solved. Thanks anyway.

  • Windows 7 boot disk isn't installing

I have a Pavilion Dv6t-7000 Quad entertainment notebook and recently it stopped working. When started up it would goto raid volume then goto no boot device found , press f2 for systems diagnostics. I ran the HDD extensive process one time and it said it would take 10 mins but when I took the hard drive out and reconnected it and did the test over the time changed to 2 hours and 44mins and it passed. So I bought a windows boot disk and tried to do the reboot but it wouldn't work and I keep getting random errors

Have you followed the troubleshooting procedures on the document at the following link?

Try the method described in the following web document. It may be just a corrupt BCD store.

What kind of random errors are you getting? Can you provide specific examples?

    Reinstalling Lion Without the Installer
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alterhatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You can also re-download the Lion installer by opening the App Store application. Hold down the OPTION key and click on the Purchases icon in the toolbar. You should now see an active Install button to the right of your Lion purchase entry. There are situations in which this will not work. For example, if you are already booted into the Lion you originally purchased with your Apple ID or if an instance of the Lion installer is located anywhere on your computer.

  • Move Windows 7 boot disk to a new mac

    Hi,
I am just in the middle of moving from a mac pro to a new iMac and need to move my windows 7 os as well.
On the mac pro I have windows 7 on it's own 500gb sata drive and was wondering if I can just move this out and boot from it using a Sata cradle such as the voyager q with fw800 from the new iMac?
I'm guessing there will be some driver issues to resolve, but can anyone else see a problem with what I want to do?
    Thanks max

Your "can't be cloned or moved" always caught me as not quite true though.
"Can't do that" may, or may not, even be true. And we all get tired of the same Q&A over and over but "Why can't I?" and playing "20 Questions"
Yes you can, but no you should not, as one possible answer.
And you can even with Boot Camp single partition change it to whatever letter you want.
Too simplistic with the "Can't" for my taste.
Newer kit of course isn't supported. Doesn't connect to a bootable controller or interface as far as Windows is concerned.  You have to use internal SATA, even if that means removing the optical SATA drive.

  • Need a BIOS flash boot disk for Satellite P100-240

I need to be able to flash my Satellite P100-240 from a bootable CD.
The only BIOS I can find on this site needs to be run from windows.
Ive seen BIOS 4.40 for P100 on other Toshiba sites, eg:
    http://askiris.toshiba.com/ToshibaSupportSite/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=2115 524xml&sliceId=&dialogID=56504155&stateId=0%200%20 56506013
But not sure whether that is appropriate for P100-240.
They seem to be completely differently named. Not sure if thats a country based thing.
Will the BIOS in the link mentioned be ok to run on my p100-240??

Your notebook is NOT US series but European series and you have to use the BIOS from the Toshiba European driver page!
The wrong BIOS can damage the notebooks BIOS ROM module!!! And this would lead to the point where you wouldnt be able to boot the machine!!!
Therefore you should ALWAYS use the BIOS designed for this notebook series!!!
Furthermore you will not find any traditional BIOS updates on the Toshiba page!
There are only windows-based BIOS updates and you could update it ONLY from running windows OS.
If the notebooks BIOS cannot be updated from the Windows OS then you have to contact the Toshiba technician and have to ask for the help!!!
This is everything what you can do

  • 790fx-gd70. windows 7. boot disk/flashing

Just got windows 7 and i'm about to flash my bios from 1.4 to 1.7.   I used to have a windows boot disc for XP, but i can't find info on how to make one for win7... is it because DOS is gone w/win 7?

Why do you want to flash the bios? What problems are you running into?
If you insist on flashing (which is not recommended if the ssytem is stable), >>Use the MSI HQ Forum USB flasher<<

  • How can I create an OSX boot-disk from my Windows PC? (or alternatives)

    Hi all,
I've got a Macbook Pro and I had recently upgraded OSX from 10.9 to 10.10 beta. Without thinking it all the way through, I decided to perform a complete reformat to remove any files left over from the previous version upgrades. So, I rebooted and held cmd button + R, and I erased the main partition. The option to install a copy of OSX 10.10 fails because I'm assuming it's not on Apple's servers, yet, since it's still beta. The problem is, I cannot choose to install 10.9 from that screen - it only offers 10.10. I can no longer boot into OSX, since I erased the partition.
So, I'm now on my Windows machine trying to find the proper way to recover this Macbook Pro. It sounds like I need to create a boot disk, but I can't find an official way to get a hold of the ISO to create that boot disk.
What can I do in this situation? I don't want to have to go into an Apple store, because I live a long way away from one. Is there a way I can obtain an ISO to create the boot disk? Or, is there maybe a way to simply choose a different OSX version at that reformat screen?
    Thanks!

I don't think you can do anything helpful with a Windows machine. Mac App store wants to read your Mac's model number and your Apple-ID.
Exactly which model MacBook Pro makes a big difference.
If yours has Internet Recovery, you should be able to hold down:
    Command-Option-R
at startup until a globe appears on your screen. From there, you should be able to re-Install Mac OS X, and it is supposed to be the version that came on your Mac.
Please post back with your results, because some Readers are saying it re-installs the Major version, but the latest 0.1 update to that version. Others are saying if your Mac can run Mavericks, it re-Installs Mavericks 10.9.3 regardless.

  • I need a ver.10.4 boot disk

I need to download a Boot Disk software and then burn it so I can use it to startup my Mac

No boot software before Lion 10.7 could be downloaded. They only way to get them was by purchasing a CD.
You might try calling Apple and see if they have a 10.4 CD.
I would not hold my breath on them having it.
Well your PowerMac run 10.5? Thise are still being sold on the web.

  • Create boot disk?

    Hi,
I am away from home, and I need to create a boot disk, and I do not have my system install DVD. Anybody know of a solution to create a boot disk, either on a removable media or an external HD? It seems like I should be able to create a partition or a disk image on my firewire drive and copy key system files to it and start from there, run my utility programs. Restart and life is good again.
    Any thoughts?

Clone your internal drive to the external using CarbonCopyCloner or SuperDuper!, then boot from the clone to run the utilities.
