I'm trying to update my 2gb Ipod nano with the updater. The program freezes when it trys to initialize it. I put it in Hard Disk mode and its the same thing. I need help.

All APPLICATIONS CRASH WHEN AN ALERT BOX POPS UP! FOR THE LOVE OF GOD HELP!

When any alert box pops up (e.g. Reseting Safari, Changing an extention in Finder) The application that sent the alert crashes within a few seconds. I do not know how this happened, but it is very annoying and harmful to what i am working on. I think this started a few days ago, and the only thing that i think might of caused it is Google earth, which i just installed. I tried disk utility (on and off the CD), to no avail. This is not restricted to any particular program, and crashes everthing. Please, For the Love Of God Help!!!!!!

Try this: go to the System Preferences and look at the "Speech" preference pane. Make sure everything is turned off in the "Spoken User Interface" tab. Especially the "Speak the Alert Text".
If that's not it, open up your Console application from the Utilities folder. Click on the "Logs" icon at the top left until you see a listing of folders on the left side. Click the triangle next to ~/Library/Logs to reveal some sub-folders. One should be called "CrashReporter". Open it and click on one of the crash logs. Each one should have a section like this:

Lets get down to business on this problem that my town is facing. One, the Verizon corporate store in Escanaba, Mi is closing? For the love of god why are you guys doing this? I have had a great experience in dealing with Verizon over the years from helping me with my phone problems to just being very helpful when I need a new product upgrade. The other affiliate store in my area (That will remain nameless) that are not knowledgeable as those folks at the corporate store. One time I went to an affiliate store to edge up and that was a complete nightmare and a half. I asked for a phone (HTC One M8 Windows) that I wanted and what did these guys do? They sold me the same exact model but it was the Androd version! The saleswoman (Which was the store manager) told me you can make this into a windows version (Which is a big NO-NO because that would void my warranty for Jail-breaking!) and messed up my contract to the point i couldn't (also breaking contract) edge up for 30 days! After fixing this at the Escanaba corporate store to the actual phone after that mess up when I didn't want the Android Phone! So, if you want to keep your loyal customers like myself that is a military veteran that owns and manage a Computer Company Also my other relatives that own trucking companies and insurance agencies. I would suggest that you please reconsider this disastrous move of closing the best Wireless Store in my area.

I have a SoundBlaster Li've! 5. soundcard installed in my pc. My pc crashed and a new hard disk was required. I do not have the CD that came with the card,?I have managed to ?download Li'veDrvPack.exe, all be it from DriverGuide.com as i cannot find the file anywhere on this site. Every time I run the .exe file I get the following error message;?Setup could not detect any SoundBlaster Audio card on your system. Please ensure the your SoundBlaster hardware is properly installed before running this Setup program. Setup will now exit. I have checked in my Device list and there is an item marked as driver not installed with the label 'Multimedia Audio Controller'. The card is being recognised by Bill Gates' wonderful OS. I am getting towards the end of my tether with this and ready to launch the whole f***ing thing out of the window.... :-s?PLEASE, SOMEBODY HELP ME..

You can download the CD for the Li've 5. from [url="http://badboy.hub.io/">here[/url]. Look in the Audigy & Li've section. Which download you want depends on your model number. If you get a similar error when you install from the CD, run ctzapxx.exe in the /audio/driver subdirectory on the CD and select "overwrite existing..." (or similar phrasing).

Just as the subject says. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the latest flash player update three times within the last three days and I've updated Firefox twice within that same timeframe. Each time I update the player, my videos and flash ads stop hanging my browser, but then a day later flash ads or videos start freezing Firefox again. I'm pretty sure I've isolated it as a Flash player problem, too, because today I tried going back to using IE and installed the latest Flash player and it started hanging IE, as well. Also, I logged on to this forum and others and have seen a few dozen people posting discussions on the exact same issue. I've had very good experiences with Flash up to this point, but this is really getting annoying. And since so many websites now incorporate flash into their ads, it means I don't even have to watch a video to cause a hang. Simply loading a site with a flash ad does it.
I am running Windows 7 on a 64-bit platform. Please fix this so that I can surf the internet for more than ten minutes without my browser freezing on me.

bigjt_2 Well, don't be too hard on yourself. With Windows coming out almost back to back with Vista (4 versions) and now Win7, plus IE7, IE8 and adding more restrictions for security, no one can keep up with it all. On top of that you have
the Uninstall process, Windows uninstalls the old before adding the new. Adobe and Java do not remove the old when installing the new. And on it goes. If you don't know, you don't know. Not to mention the browser wars:-), you know the
my browser is better than yours, etc.
Actually I think you did a great job. Also you probably used the Adobe uninstaller at one time and the installer, that would
have been the only way you would have gotten the DLM.
Just a tip on if you want to install FF now that you have FP installed and IE8 is taken care of. Use the following link

However, when you go to that install link above, uncheck the box if you don't want the Google Toolbar, then click on Different operating system or browser?, select your OS, continue, click on the circle "Flash Player 10 for Windows-other browsers,
uncheck the Google Toolbar if not wanted, agree and install now. Then Reboot.
Also, you might have less trouble Disabling all extensions, Add-ons, plug-ins in FF before installing. Then you can Enable
them afterwards. Some FF add ons are known to cause install problems.

Does it (the new Intel chipped iMac) or does it not support dual monitor extended desktop?!?! I know there have been numerous posts on this and many other forums, but that's exactly my problem. Some folks say it does, others say you need a hack written by some German guy called Klaus.
Being new to MacWorld, I cannot decipher all the acronyms used in those discussions and so I cannot figure out if this was an old problem which has gone away or a problem for some models but not the others.
I want to edit digital photos and need two screens (one for the photo display, the other for the gazillions of menus and dialogs of Photoshop). If iMac 24 can support a second extended monitor, I will go with that, if not I will have to get a Mac Pro (almost +1,500K extra). I don't want to make an expensive mistake.
Please help. And no guesses please. I need proof Thanks in advance.

Thanks, good to know, even about Vista. I'm running a G4 Quicksilver so I'm sure anything will seem like the wind to me, even Rosetta.
But the apps I need most are Adobe's Creative Suite so since they are Universal now I should have no problem, all Rosetta apps will be pretty small. My G4 is so slow now and people giving me bigger and bigger files because they all have newer Macs than me that I actually take my PDA put and play games while waiting for it to finish something. It's getting real frustrating.

Lyrics- for the love of GOD!

Why won't the lyrics display on my 3G when I've added them to itunes under the get info/lyrics tab, synced the phone- and YES, I have touched the screen during playback. Even though there are songs that DO display lyrics that I haven't even imported/added.
Look, please help me out- I know people hate when you're belting out a song and are wayyy off with the words you're using.

As far as assistance on this. Couple of general Qs
1. Have you updated to iTunes 8.0.2 ? If not please download it below

2. Updating to iPhone 2.2

Once this is done you may want to Un-sync your music, and Re-Sync the music back to the iPhone, and then check and see if Lyrics are copying over.
1. Have you confirmed if you go back and check the songs in iTunes and Get Info from them. That the lyrics are still attached?
2. By chance were you copying and pasting these lyrics from a website?
Might want to check the lyrics for any abnormal characters that may not be carrying over with the song when Synced.
You may also wish to reboot the PC/Mac and attempt to Sync again. Reboot iPhone as well and go back and check lyrics.

6. Install MediaSource (MediaSource requires that you have the Nomad connected to verify you are using it with Creative hardware).
7. Install the MediaSource plugin.
8. Disconnect and power down the Nomad, if you aren't intending on using it.
All the software should now be ready to use.

I click, run and run, and when it gets to the instalshieldwizard, i get this msg,

I need someone to help me out of this hole please for the love of God!

About a month ago water was spilled onto my MacBook Pro 2.4GHz Intel Core Duo. This caused several keys on my keyboard to stick and several other keys to not function and all. To add insult to injury the DVD optical drive now works about one out of every 100 times. To drive the final nail through my brain I have been unable to locate my install disk one.
The problems stems from this.....at some point my admin password was needing to be input which it was. However not noticing the key sticking problem right away the password was somehow reset to a random number of stuck key inputs and punctuation marks. I now no longer have Admin access to my own computer.
The situation is getting desperate. Luckily I do not have to input the password on boot up but I can not add any new programs or upgrade any existing programs as I can not modify the applications folder....not being the admin and all.
I solved the keyboard problem by way of the apple mini bluetooth keyboard and just yesterday I purchased a USB external optical drive. However I have had any luck booting to the install disk (I have since borrowed a friends)
Last night I got close to resetting the password using target mode and another mac but it was sounding like I wasn't quite getting booted into single user mode as when I imput the standard seried of fsck -y and rm /-uaw and the rm /var/db/.AppleSetupDone I ended up getting a promt that said something to the effect of override -rw-------uw/0 var/db/.applesetupdone? at which point I was being prompted for a yes or no which I input "Y" for yes and then it just returned and said permission denied.
Now I am back at the attempt again this morning and have another install disk. I can get to the Utilities meny and select any of the tools....."reset password" " or "system profiler" however pretty much every single utility tool I select "Quits unexpectedly" and I am asked to reset and relaunch but I can NOT get them to work.
I refer to Console and I see some error messages saying cryptic things such as....

Wow you guys are completely off base about how I am reacting, sorry....I mean now I'm a little upset because you have no idea how frustrating this is for me, I have said over and over how appreciative I am of everyone who has even replied. In reading and re-reading my last post I think it is pretty clear what my intent was with my comment, unless you practice at being a dick. All I was saying is that as the individual tidbits of information were streaming in, progress was being made but no resolution yet, which makes it appear like this is not going to be some easy fix, if all the advice coming in from people who have thousands and posts and obviously much more experience than I do and when that group is all out of ideas,,,,,,I am in deep doo doo. No I didn't mean it like I thought the entire forum was conspiring against me, just making an observation......sheesh lighten up. Just saying if guys were out of ideas I was probably out of luck, sorry to put quotations around the word "experts"....everyone on this board that has had any kind of an idea to try IS and EXPERT compared to me. I mean sorry pal but compared to how I actually feel and in reading my posts many times now, they are pretty complimentary. But again in re-reading these last two.....don't see a lot of advice in there. Anywhoooo..... I took it to the genius bar.....and VOILA they were able to reset my password.......my standard access password........standard as in now I can log in with a password but that is all I can do now I can't modify pretty much any folder. However I CAN now boot into single user mode as I was correct my thinking that the master password was preventing me from booting into single user mode....so I get the proper screen now when I boot to disk and I get the correct utility menu pulldown and run the reset password utility from there and now it doesn't keep quitting however when it should show the actual Hard Drive that I am wanting to apply the reset to....it never shows my hard drive OSX it only shows my Install DVD containing OSX. So anyway, sorry if the grinding of the teeth was beginning to leave dust in my posts I'll be careful not to recklessly "compliment" anymore

I currently have a MBP unibody 15" 2.53 I have all the cables etc etc, I am trying to hook this thing up to my Samsung 46" LCD. I have tried everything and I cannot get it to sync perfectly with my TV. What am I doing wrong? Can someone please tell me what setting my TV needs to be on and what setting my laptop needs to be on? I am dying over here spent close to $100 on cables and I cannot get this SOB to work.... I am using a Mini Display that plugs into the MBP and I am running an HDMI into that to the TV, I have a 24" LG monitor that I have had it hooked up to but I would like to have it hooked up to my TV. When I have it hooked up to the monitor in mirror mode and I close the laptop and hit the keyboard or mouse and it syncs with the monitor and adjusts to fit the screen perfectly. However, when I do that with my big screen it doesnt do that. It does show the Samsun in the Pref. Panel. and it is in Mirror Mode, I am not really sure what resolutions the Samsung preference shows.
Is there something that I need to set on my TV to make it realize that I am hooking up a laptop to it? Also what setting would I need to put in display preferences? I am reallly really confused here. When I go to hook up my laptop all I do is plug in the cables go to system settings and click the highest resolution close the laptop and then reset it and it adjust to the correct resolution on my monitor, For some reason it doesnt seem to wanna do that when I have it hooked up to the TV.
What would I want to do on the TV to make it so it adjusts?

I got a laptop for xmas, got all my songs on itunes, the newest one verzion 9 id guess. If i skip a song it will stay at the same point in the song when i go back to it, it has to be the MOST ANNOYING THING IN THE HISTORY OF TIME. Does anyone know how to fix this?????

Select all your songs in iTunes.
Right click - get info.
Click the Options tab and set *Remember playback position* to No.

Im tring to figure out why my itunes library has 2929 songs and my ipod has 2922.
1) I only have music files
2) No duplicates
3) All Boxes Checked
I need a way to identify the missing files in my itunes library, and figure out why they aren't being transfered can anyone help me???

iTunes can play files iPod cannot. Video has to be specially formatted for iPod. With plugins, iTunes can play music in formats not supported by iPod.
The ! in front of a track listing means that iTunes has lost track of the file. Sometimes it has been moved or deleted by user outside of iTunes. Sometimes iTunes just forgets where file is.

Does anyone have anything positive to say about the G5? I ordered it yesterday and with $2700 out of pocket and having read this forum I am about to vomit from fear and apprehension. Please tell me that someone out there has a happy and healthy computer.

Realize that these forums are a great place to research potential problems and issues and that nearly everyone here is having some sort of problem. I concur with other posts here that although you'll read a lot of negative stuff and have to live wtih the occasional rant, you'll find that what's represented here is from a small minority of users. I visited here extensivley prior to getting a new QUAD - with (2) 23" HD displays. I've had the system for 2 weeks. It's perfect and I couldn't be happier! I've had zero issues and that includes external drives, (including LaCie), burners, printers, audio, displays, networking, etc. Prior to this system, I used a MDD dulie which was also perfect. I've never had to call support for anything during the four years that I used the G4 and I would expect the same from my new system. You're going to love your new system and it's money well spent. Please keep us all updated on your experience so that others might benefit from you positive experience.
