i  need change main email address in iCloud, make alias email main

I'm afraid you can't do this. Once you've chosen the main @icloud.com address when you set up the account you can't change it (other than by creating a completely new account); and you can't make an alias the main address in the account it's in or any other account.

I need to change my iCloud email address.  I changed it for my Apple id but I can't log out of iCloud to change it there.  Find my iPad is activated so I can't delete my iCloud account.  I don't have the email address the iCloud login has anymore so I can't have the password sent there.  To sum it up, iCloud has an old email for the account log-in.  I don't remember the password for the old email.  I have Find My iPad activated so the iCloud account cannot be deleted.  And I am already logged out of iTunes & App Store.

If you mean that Find My Phone is asking for a password to a different Apple ID to your current Apple IDand that ID is a previous version of your current ID, not an entirely different one.
This feature has been introduced to make stolen phones useless to those that have stolen them.
However it can also arise when the user has changed their Apple ID details with Apple and not made the same changes to their iCloud account/Find My Phone on their device before upgrading to iOS 7, or if you restore from a previous back up made before you changed your details and some other circumstances.
The only solution is to change your Apple ID back to its previous state with Apple at My Apple ID using your current password, you don’t need access to this address if it’s previously been used with your Apple ID, once you have saved these details enter the password as requested on your device and then turn off "find my phone" and delete the account from your device. It may take a short while to remove the account.
You should then change your Apple ID back to its current state, save it once again and then log back in using your current Apple ID. Finally, turn "find my phone" back on once again.

If that's the iCloud email address that you mean, it cannot be changed. You would need to create an alias instead.

Yes the Apple ID is the thing that ties your devices to you and shares your information and content between them.

  • I need to change my email address which iCloud is showing as its offenisive

    Can anyone help

If you mean you mean you need to change the iCloud ID, you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iDevice, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use.  When you do this you may find that the password for your old ID isn't accepted.  If this should happen, and if your old ID is an earlier version of your current ID, you need to temporarily recreate your old ID by going to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll.  When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

  • The email address for iCloud for me is no longer in use. I need to change my email and password on my iPad.

On my iPad it will not let me change my email address. The old one is no longer in use and I cannot get emails on it any longer. How do I change iCloud email address on the iPad?

To change the iCloud ID ("email address") you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iDevice, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use.  If you don't know the password for your old ID, or if it isn't accepted, and your old ID is an earlier version of your current ID, go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. How can I change my email address on icloud, I have already changed it on my apple id, but it still is asking for lmy old email and password and I can not back up or anything?

    Hello RousePryor
If the iCloud account ends with an @icloud.com, then that is something that you cannot change it. If that is not the case, then you will need to sign out and may need to change it back to the old Apple ID to do so.

  • TS3988 Change email address in iCloud

I have changed my email address on apple Id . How can I change my email address on ICloud account. It won't let me in. Please advice

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
Providing you are simply updating your existing details and not changing to another account, when you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.

  • HT1338 can't change email address in iCloud. changed and verified on all other devices.

i need to change my email address on icloud.  i have done that in all other accounts on macbook pro, iphone and ipad, all successfully.  cannot get icloud up to date on mac.

Okay. This IS THE SOLUTION. Read this. 1) YOU did use your Apple ID password ... even if, like me, you don't remember doing it and couldn't figure out why you did not log the "new iCloud password". 2) See link below. Apparently, Apple does not currently allow you to enter a different password for a new @me, iCloud e-mail account. I followed the instructions in this link below, using Snow Leopard, and set up my @me e-mail account on my iMac in Mail app. The icon is "mobileme", but I can live with that. Geeh! Did I actually solve an Apple problem for once? Boy, that's neat. Enjoy all.

How can I change my iCloud email address

  • I have changed my apple email address and icloud is asking me to sign in under my old email then saying my password is incorrect how can i change it pls

I have changed my apple id but when i try to log into icloud etc it lists my old id therefore my password is wrong as there is no such account now, how do i change this to show my new id and get into my account

To change the iCloud ID you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iDevice, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use.
Hey Sblan2,
According to the following document, you are unable to change the iCloud email address.
from: Apple ID: Changing your Apple ID

However, one option you have would be to create an email alias:

  • How to change an inactive email address in icloud?

I just bought a new iphone 6 plus however during start up, I entered an old/inactive email address in icloud and during creation of apple id. I manage to restore to factory settings and get started again using new email address and apple id. However, I cannot change the original email address in icloud and moreover, I cannot find Facetime icon (maybe restricted by service provider since I am currently in Saudi Arabia). Please help. Thanks in advance.

That's simply not possible. If you used an inactive address you wouldn't be able to continue and verify the address, which means that iCloud cannot yet be set up using that address.

  • Need to update email address for icloud

I cannot figure out how to update my email address for icloud

If your phone is signed into an old iCloud ID and you are trying to change it to a newer version of the ID, do the following:
If you are using iMessage and FaceTime, make sure you are signed into these services with your current ID.  If they are signed into the old ID, go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive and Settings>FaceTime, tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with your current ID.
Then temporarily recreate the old ID by going to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  (You should not have to verify the old email account so it doesn’t matter if you no longer have access to it.)  Now go to Settings>iCloud, turn off Find My iPhone and enter your current password when prompted (even though it prompts you for the password for your old ID).  Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll.  When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Sign Out (or Delete Account if you are not running iOS 8) and choose Delete from My iPhone when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign back in with your current iCloud ID and password (your data will download back to your device).
